Hôtel La Pérouse

A lovely small modern hotel, well located in relation to major landmarks and an easy level walk from the train station. Good sized continental breakfast with omelettes on demand. Good coffee & tea complimentary 24/7 in the lounge next to the lobby (not in the room). Staff friendly and volunteered sights to see.

The doors to the rooms I suggest need a rubber strip on the bottom, as the person next to us was evidently a very heavy smoker as the smoke drifted in during the night and woke us up. I know it’s France and a lot of people smoke but this was pretty strong and I’m an ex 40 day person. Any way it was only 1 night.

The room was very clean and the shower was fantastic. The shower products (shampoo etc) were also of premium quality. The bed was very comfortable and I had 3 nights of very good sleep there. The staff was super kind and friendly. The location of the hotel could be described as at least superb.

Upon my check-out I asked if I could leave my suitcase in the hotel until I was back after 6-7 hours. The person in the reception agreed and I was told to leave my suitcase in the window next to the reception desk and that another member of the staff would take care of it. I was surprised to find my suitcase at the very same spot that I left it and completely exposed to anyone near the reception.

Great location. Lovely historical building. Walking distance to everywhere you might want to visit as well as being close to many bus lines and tram lines either in front of the hotel or a few hundred feet around the corner. Truly fabulous if you want to visit not only tourist attractions but get a sense of the city and its lovely amenities and architecture. Île de Nantes is a must see for its amazing revival. The giant elephant is a delight for adults and children alike. A less than 10 minute tram ride away.

For this quality hotel the reception staff during the day was one person or at least the only one we saw. I must say after traveling almost around the word and staying in many hotels, I have never encountered such rudeness or lack of desire to interact with clients. A simple thing seemed to be a mountain. I must say the night staff was the friendliest as well as the person who did our check out. I would have rated this hotel a 10 were it not for this unusual disregard for service by one particular reception employee.

The bedroom was well designed in general and the bedroom facilities e.g. mirrors, lighting etc, in particular.

The breakfast room was very small for the number of guests. The buffet area was also too small with e.g. the cereals being piled on top of each other. It was awkward for the guests, who had to queue up for each item they wanted.

Wifi was not working great (if you work for travel one likes to check emails). so had to link computer to mobile. Also had feeling if you book through booking.com for example the mini bar is empty and no coffee or thee But nevertheless rest was good. not really to complain. I understand they rather not lose revenues to a booking platform but then dont punish the customer for it.

The staff were prettly helpful and attended to my needs. I left my airpods in the property and they were very much willing to have it delivered to me.

The walls may be thin because I can hear my neighbors.

All the rest. Books and "salon de the" available for free. Warm and cosy. Rare pieces of contemporary art from local artist in the entry hall. Very kind and helpful waitresses. In

Great location. Lovely room. Good size. Lovely staff who moved us to a quieter room when we expressed concern about initial room given on first floor facing street.

Liked it all but can’t drive up to hotel . That said car park not too far

Great location, very central. Nice staff.

Photos made it look a lot more glossy and stylish and so we were a bit disappointed that it was really quite basic. But it was comfortable and clean, good location and nice staff. Would have been nice to have a mini bar.

Location is not the best if you want to get some sleep. There was a lot of noise from the street. Hotel could perhaps invest in a better window isolation
