Scandic Grand Central Helsinki

the location was superb (3 min walk to Helsinki station); rooms were spacious, cosy and comfortable, after a long day you can enjoy a hot shower (rain shower) in a spacious and modern designed bathroom; bed was super comfy and we had a view to the square, which looked brilliant when lit at night. highlight was the mini breakfast available to us at 3 am!!! we had to leave for the airport at 4am, so we got a mini breakfast packed in a box for us with fruits, pastry, juice, yoghurt the whole lot; a mini continental! really appreciated this.

The location is amazing, super easy to get from the airport. There are a lot of restaurants and supermarkets around. The staff was incredibly friendly and I loved that it really showed how pet friendly the hotel was. The gym is worth it and opened 24/24. Would love to visit again.

Prices (e.g. Mini bar) are steep, but there are plenty of supermarkets around.

It has a good central location, and it is very quiet, despite being next to a train station. The room is larger than average, comfortable, well lit and clean. The shower has great pressure. The wifi is strong. With the exception of the really poor breakfast experience, it is well recommended.

Breakfast is an issue. Too many people for too small a space. The hotel is aware and puts little signs telling guests that last hour of breakfast is crowded (possibly because they stop serving it @ 9h30), which isn't a proper solution. Also, cleaning of tables is slow which makes guests wait by with plates in hand. To top it off the food is pretty tasteless and underwhelming. The hotel is pricey on its own, but mostly delivers good service. The exception is the breaksfast, which is absolutely not worth the price or the hassle.

Good location and hotel. Provided packed breakfast early morning and accommodated special diet. Very friendly staff.

The walk from the train station to hotel is partly in open air and over rough surfaces (layers of snow / slush, gravel) and no ramps, up a few small set of stairs. So don't choose this if carrying larger suitcases. Very tiring and uncomfortable.

The best location for train users. You can see the trains arriving and departing from the breakfast room(don't worry, it is soundproof). The breakfast spread was good and we got a quiet room facing the courtyard. The rooms are classy and feel big due to the high ceiling. The interiors make it stand out from other regular business hotels. The lobby is spacious with plush furniture. There is a cute rabbit in the courtyard!

The breakfast spread on day 1(Sunday) was pretty good but it closed earlier on day two(Monday) and we had fewer options. There was no kettle in the room on day one and we had to borrow it from the reception.

The hotel offers what you'd expect from a 4 star hotel. Rooms are clean, staff is friendly and helpful. Location is great, as it is located in the city center, right behind the central station and close to all main attractions. You don't hear any noise from the station. The hotel gym is fantastic, too. Breakfast was amazing, it has everything you may want!

The wifi in the hotel is rather slow and not within a secure network. Our "Family room" (we were travelling with our daughter) wasn't anything else than a simple double room with an added (rather uncomfortable) bed.

The restoration was excellent and the interior furnishings were of good quality and design. Breakfast was varied and of top quality.

Lack of access to a bar and restaurant for two of the three nights of our stay was a negative for us.

The interior of the room and hotel was very beautiful and thought through, very classy and luxurious feel, still it's not expensive compared to other luxury hotels. Breakfast was great, I liked the sauna and gym facilities as well. Great location, but still calm atmosphere in the hotel. Big thanks to the staff who put a water kettle, mugs and teabags in my room upon request when booking the room (usually not included in my room type) 👍

I liked everything. Only a bit noisy sometimes from outside (occasionally people yelling on the street and some sort of construction work starting in the morning), but nothing too annoying. Except from this it was very quiet.

Loved the location and the style of the hotel with the art deco touches. The room was clean and comfortable and much bigger than expected. The staff was super friendly and helpful 24/7. My room was quiet despite being located directly next to the train tracks at Central Station.

Accessible entrance not well signposted from the main entrance. The main entrance includes stairs without a railing, which can make it hard for those with mobility issues to enter. The breakfast area was sign-posted, but the buffet room wasn't, again, for those with walking problems it might be easier if the breakfast buffet was better signposted or directions provided upon entrance to the bar.

Amazing location, just at the main train station and walking distance to tons of restaurants, museums and the cite center! Breakfast provides a big choice of food; gym is relatively small but has modern machines on which it is easy to make a propoer workout.

The personnel at the reception were relatively unpleasant. My fiance arrived without me, they didn't want to give him the room keys - I tried calling them to reach them for 20 minutes but nobody was picking up... When I asked where I could buy some cotton pads (there were none in the room, which I was expecting at this price) they didn't know and were not interested in helping me. Additionally, brekfast was served only until 9.30am which is rather early for vacation, especially as if you came after 8.45 it was very difficult to find a sitting spot.
