Omena Hotel Helsinki City Centre

The location is good. It is near to the Kamppi area and it is very easy to find restaurants and supermarkets. The staff are helpful. We met some trouble during our stay and the staff gave us assistance.

Since there is no lobby and no reception desk, we could store our luggage in the hotel after we arrived. We needed to store the luggage at the train station, which is not a short distance for people who have heavy luggage. Another thing is we don't know why the TV suddenly turned on when we were sleeping at the mid-night. We were frightened and we asked to change the room. Since there is no reception in the hotel, the problem could be solved immediately and we had to stay in that room for two nights. Fortunately, the staff were very helpful after they realized our problem and we could move to another room at the third night.

Clean, quiet, great location, easy to access the building and the room. Really great value for money. We stayed for only one night. We had 2 adults, 2 kids and 3 suitcases in a room and managed alright. I mean if you like space and views and five star comfort, this place is not for you, but for us it was just to sleep, shower, repack and travel on, so it was great. There were two folded chair beds in addition to a twin size bed. Beds were comfortable. Sheets and towels were clean, good soap/body wash in the bathroom. The staff responed within an hour to my messages. If you are flying from N America, you will probably be up and hungry at night :) There are several McDonalds close by and a 24h grocery store (S market) where we got all we needed for a very early breakfast. The hotel is about a 10 min walk from the central railway station, but be aware there are cobble stone roads in many places which makes dragging your suitcases and a stroller a bit of an ordeal! Overall, definitely recommend if you need a place to crash for a night in Helsinki.

Just two small issues of note, One of our folded chair beds was acting up a bit, I messaged the staff but then we sorted it out. The staff replied soon and were ready to help, but we resolved the issue already. Second, on top of the mattresses, there are these thin pads that kept sliding off, that was a bit weird, but that was probably because our kids were moving a lot, as kids do. No big deal.

Great location and good price performance. The access code was sent to the e-mail a day before and to the phone in the morning of check-in and everything worked perfectly. Refrigerator, possibility to make tea (tea and sugar in the room)

The room window could not be opened and the ventilation seemed poor. Also the TV picture quality was really bad and only some channels could be watched. Of course, did not go to the hotel to watch the TV but still would be nice if all the equipment works.

Decent sized room, tea coffee fridge. Comfy bed, lacking headboard though. Strange plastic toilet shower unit that creaked when you entered - quirky rather than problematic. The Kamppi location could not be better for Helsinki city centre. The price could not be bettered.

Lack of attached headboard on bed made you feel less cosy - sitting up in bed to watch the tv awkward. The creaky bathroom unit looking a bit old and tired. Did not mind the fact there was no reception - instead entry, lift and room are all entered using a code efficiently delivered to my phone. Not good though if you leave your glasses in your room as the code buttons are not large enough for my eyesight or my stubby fingers.

Usually when a place is described as "functional and good value" it is a little basic and scruffy but this place is a great example of how good a budget no frills city centre hotel can be. Tea/coffee facilities, fridge and microwave in the room, good little bathroom, comfy beds and a seating area with big window which can convert to extra sofa beds. My room was directly opposite the lift, but there was no problem with noise at all. Short walk to train station. Really good stay, exactly what I needed and great for the price.

Very good location, close to Kamppi bus terminal and metro, many shops and restaurants around. The room very clean and tidy and well-equipped, I especially appreciated the mini-fridge and the kettle. It is an unmanned hotel, you have to send your ID on their booking page and then they send you a code that you use for the door and the lift. They don't have breakfast, but they co-operate with a cafe nearby (you can see on Omena home page) that has a breakfast offer for a good price for Omena's guests, latte was just excellent :)

Very conveniently located with short access to both Kamppi bus station and central train station, all the big shopping centres and lots of small shops and cafes . There is a nice playground for kids within 5 minutes walk. Easy to reach the main central sights in Helsinki on foot or by using public transport. The hotel itself is easily accessible, you receive door code in a text message on the day of your arrival, there is no reception there. The room has a microwave oven, a few coffee/tea/sugar bags, a kettle, etc.

The room was not particularly clean, quite basic, as expected, and also I wish you could turn off the lights in the area where the bed is and still have some lights on elsewhere, as this was a bit of a challenge for me since I was travelling alone with a toddler who went to sleep while I still had to fix some stuff in the evening.

Great location, the staff was very friendly, great customer service. The breakfast was a great spread and very fulfilling. Room had a mini fridge and private bathroom in the room. Also a fan was available in the room which is great since I am always hot.

WiFi was spotty and didn't work one night. If you are tall like me (6 feet or 1.83 cm) the ceilings are a bit low but that is not the hostels fault, just a FYI. Overall not much to say that was an issue. Would use this hostel again.

The hotel is good value for money for anyone looking for an inexpensive stay in the centre of Helsinki. It was within walking distance of most of the places we wanted to see, or public transport links. There were also good dining options nearby.

It was a tight squeeze for four adults in what was essentially a double room, but manageable. It actually wasn't possible to pull out one of the extra beds where it had been placed due to a pillar, so we had to rearrange the furniture to make it work — but we got there in the end!

Clean and nice. The youtube option in the tv was nice. Good there was a kettle and hair drying machine. The location is nice, i like the pub downstairs.

The wifi was really bad. And there were no cups, only paper ones, and I prefer to be eco-friendly. Unofrunately there was no handle for soap in the bath. Should be more clear there are two locations of the hotel.
