GLO Hotel Art

Stayed here with my wife ahead of the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Lahti. Loved the architecture and the entire artsy feel of the hotel. Additionally, it is located right in the heart of the city and within walking distance of Helsinki Central station. Despite that, there is barely any disturbance or sound, which makes your stay calm and peaceful. Most of the key visiting sites in Helsinki are within a 15-25 minute walk from here, or you can always catch a tram or an electric scooter to get around. There are grocery stores and interesting restaurants nearby, and the hotel also arranges access to a fitness center at a nominal fee, if required. If you plan to take a ferry to Tallinn, then the West Terminal is merely 2.5 km from the hotel. The beach is around 1 mile from the hotel, and if you decide to go for a walk, jog, ride, or swim, it's a perfect place. Loved our time and stay at the hotel.

The room size that we opted for felt really small, more so because we had a bike bag. But otherwise decent space for two.

An interesting hotel in a very pleasant and central location with an unusual exterior and reception area. The room had cosy and interesting lighting features and the bathroom layout was well designed. The breakfast buffet was excellent and offered a great choice for all tastes and dietary needs including vegan. Considering the large amount of people frequenting the breakfast rooms in the morning everything was extremely well organised and staff were very attentive noting immediately if something was running low or missing.

There was nothing I actually disliked, just a few areas that we found a bit disappointing. Saying this, we were staying in the basic room category and had not opted for any of the available upgrades. The room was very compact and dominated by the bed. The storage and hanging space was just about sufficient for two or three days but not for a longer stay. There was just one bedside table that could double as a small desk. As this was a double-room it would have been difficult if two people needed to work. Considering the great lighting features of the room, the lighting in the bathroom was a bit disappointing as the overhead lighting was the only light source which makes styling and putting on make-up quite difficult.

Last time we stayed at the back annex of the hotel, which felt brand new/newly refurbished, and the facilities were excellent. This time we stayed in the main building - the door had a huge gap, so we could clearly see outside and hear everything. This was annoying, especially as we were staying at the hotel on a busy weekend and it got quite noisy at times in the corridors.

Room is spacious and comfortable! Comfy beds, very soft pillows :) I have to mention that the breakfast is really excellent! Features a lot of local food, e.g., Finnish squeaky cheese, cloudberry jam, Karelian pasty, freshly made pancakes, rye bread, crisp bread, soft boiled eggs with egg stand, a good selection of fruits all of which are quite fresh. I like no sugar yogurt and they do have it, in addition to a nice supply of mango quark. The staff were all very friendly and ready to help. There's also complimentary sauna every Monday evening, check it out! Also, walking distance to the Kamppi transition center, from where lots of trams/buses depart.

My stay in GLO Hotel Art should have been perfect except the breakfast. Hotel lobby is very beautiful, hotel room is comfortable and the young girl at the reception is extremely friendly and helpful. However, the breakfast is a big disappointment. Lack of choice, under-staffed so we need to clean the table ourselves and the scrambled eggs are literally un-eatable. Hotel management should check out what’s going on with the eggs.

The front of the building and lobby are very cute and castle-like. The beds were very comfortable and the room we stayed in was beautifully designed with a large walk-in glass shower and large windows with nice views.

The breakfast was very good but not enough coffee options (no cappuccinos, mochas, etc.). Drinks at the bar were a bit small for the price. Recommend going elsewhere for a nightcap if you have time.

I found this hotel really unique and charming. The reception and some of the hotel are located in a historically looking building, my room was located in the other wing. The room was quite spacious, set in a beautiful modern design, with a lot of lighting options throughout the room, and dimming light in the bathroom. Breakfast buffet was very rich, something to choose for really everyone. I was very happy with my stay in this hotel, would have gladly stayed a few more days. Reception was staffed with very nice people, check-in and check-out were fast and efficient. Getting to the hotel from the central station was very easy with the tram, only about 3 stops. Without a suitcase it was very easy to walk through the entire inner city from here.

The main area is a beautiful jugend-style building. Our room was at the back annex, it was new and the design was very pleasant. The room facilities were excellent. Slippers were included in the room, which is always appreciated. The staff were excellent and let us check in early, which was great. Very good breakfast

It would be useful to have a squeegee broom to wipe the bathroom floor after having a shower

Hotel Entrance and the Ceiling and decoration in the receptionist area is very chateau style, very beautiful. Receptionist were very kind, helpful and giving us lots of tip in term of what to see. Room is a good size and clean and we got it in the very back top level of the building. Really quite with roof view of the city, I like it. Breakfast was so delicious and made you full the whole day, plenty of choices. Location is walking distance - 20 minutes to the Harbor, Esplanade and the City Center.

The pillows were the best hotel pillows I have ever had. Down filled and not too big and solid. The personnel were fantastic, really helpful. The breakfast was very varied and delicious. Rooms were tiny but clean. The lobby building was intriguing and beautiful.

I would have liked to know that the rooms were quite so small and also that the beautiful old lobby depicted in the photos is only the lobby and part of the buildings. Most of the rooms are in a modern adjacent addition, and there is nothing distinctive about them whatsoever.
