New Memnon Hotel

Out of our six nights in Luxor, we spent two nights here. Sadly, this hotel cannot compete with Iberotel's substantial discount at that time in terms of value. Nonetheless, still highly recommended! The main draws for staying here are (1) the landmarks' close proximity—four of them are only a short stroll away(if you like walking like us). When we stepped outside at 5:30 a.m., we saw the balloons being inflated between the fields across the street. We then strolled to the Monuments of Memnon and discovered ourselves alone admiring the statue with the balloons—it was breathtaking. Walking on the West Bank is more pleasurable and hustle-free, in our experience. (2) The owner of this locally owned business is a fantastic host. When you need help, he's there. The nicest aspect is that you don't waste time haggling—the quoted price for the taxi is almost the same as what we were able to negotiate while we were staying on the east bank. We’ve been the other hotels and their tour price are inflated. We had trouble arranging the train to Aswan online on our final night. He tried hard to helped us obtain a ticket but was unsuccessful. He then advised us to simply arrive early enough so that we can perhaps find a seat. The following day, a packed breakfast was provided and surprised us by driving us to the boat dock himself. You can walk between Luxor temple and Karnak temple via avenue of the sphinx and there’s ticket counter and check on the way closer to Karnak.

Breakfast and dinner at the hotel are basic but filling enough. That we only stayed for 2 nights.

The breakfast was excellent. Breakfast starts at 7 and staff were already there and waiting to serve you. The coffee was very good as was the omelette. They also make their own cheese which was delicious and available every morning. The amount of breakfast food was more than enough. They also serve lunch and dinner which I ordered and which was very good. I ate outside in the garden on a few occasions. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the linens were very nice. The shower had very hot water and the water pressure was fantastic. I arranged a taxi with the host at a reasonable rate for the day in order to see as many sights as possible. He also provided recommendations of things to see as it is not possible to see all the sights in the West Bank on one day. The garden area is lovely and I would suggest requesting a room with a garden view as the views on the other side of the building are not nearly as nice. Overall, while people seem to suggest staying on the East Bank, I much preferred the West Bank. If I return to Luxor I will be staying at New Memnon again.

This hotel is set right next to the Collosi of Memnon and a short taxi ride away from the Valley of the Kings. Similarly, it's a 5 minute tuk tuk ride to the west bank riverside cafés, restaurants, and the ferries and boats to the east bank. It's an absolute gem, providing comfortable, quiet accommodation, great food, attentive service, and non-pushy and reasonably priced excursions. Manager (owner?) Saed runs a tight ship, and the staff reflect that. The breakfast was fantastic, with freshly squeezed orange juice, cheeses, flat bread, eggs, how you want them, and fresh fruit. Similarly, dinner was excellent value for money- mezze starters, soup, meat and veggie mains, fruit, and delicious cakes. There's a swimming pool and I took two chilly dips. I'm sure it's an absolute boon in the summer after a hot day's sightseeing.

Excellent! I would give10 stars if possible. Mr Sayed (the owner) is a kind and generous host. He arranged everything for us (car, driver, falluca ride, balloon ride,etc. ) and treated us like family. The restaurant was excellent and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and dinner every day. The room was comfortable with a good bed, refrigerator and air conditioning. We also had a balcony. The swimming pool was almost finished as of Nov 6, 2023. The location is very good with easy access to the West Bank sights. We totally enjoyed our 8 day visit and there were no problems.

We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean. The ambience of the hotel is very friendly. The views from the main deck are stunning. The best thing about the hotel is its food at affordable price with five star hospitality. Indeed the hotel owner himself and his lovely staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. The tour guide arranged through the hotel (including a comfortable ride to and from the locations) was very informative and friendly. Highly recommend for families as well as solo travellers. There are supermarkets at walking distance and the valley of kings is very close by. We throughly enjoyed our stay.

There is nothing to dislike about this place.

This is probably one of the best options you can get in Luxor. The hotel offers comfortable rooms and a restaurant with very much delicious local food. The owner is a good host and the hotel staff is polite and helpful. You can and probably even should use an opportunity to order excursions to numerous local attractions: they are not really cheap (by Eastern European measures, not applicable if you are from US/UK/Western Europe) but you totally get what you pay for. You will get a local driver with a decent car who will drive you to the attractions and wait for you while you explore them. They have a pool, but I did not use it because had just 3 days in Luxor and no time to chill. The location is perfect if you want (and you do if you came to Luxor) to explore Kings Valley, Queens Valley and Hatshepsut Temple - the hotel is located just by Memnon Colossi and it will take you almost no time to reach those sites. To sum up, if you plan to visit Luxor, I advise to consider this hotel. You won't be disappointed.

Breakfast was served any time we wanted, even quite early - before six o´clock! Location was excellent for visiting the monuments, temples and the valleys and tombs. Just a stone´s throw away from the most places. Walking distance to Medinet Habu, Ramesseum and, of course, the Memnon Colossi because they were across the street. The building was new and A/C worked well. Restaurant was always open. There´s a beautiful garden between theh hotel and the restaurant buildings. The new swimming pool was near completion in late October 2023. The surroundings were fields where the hot air balloons operated early in the morning. The sight was impressive. The owner personally took very good care of us and helped a lot in finding transportation and other matters. We felt that as guests we were treated like family members.

Pity the swimming pool wasn´t ready yet. The food was international - it could have more local Egyptian flavor and spices.

Staying at the New Memnon far exceeded our expectations. The owner Mr. Sayed is incredibly hospitable and made sure that our stay in Luxor was a truly enjoyable and memorable one. During our 3-day stay in Luxor, we booked several sightseeing trips through him, including a hot air balloon ride (highly recommended). Everything went very smoothly and exactly as planned and at very reasonable prices, which unfortunately had not been our experience in Egypt until we got to New Memnon. Mr. Sayed only works with very reliable guides and drivers, which makes the entire sightseeing experience so much better. Save yourself aggravation and money and let Mr. Sayed take care of booking your sightseeing tours in Luxor. Our room was clean and comfortable, very quiet at night. Staff members were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a very nice spread, don't miss it :) During our stay we ended up having dinner at the hotel restaurant every night -- tasty, fresh food. Our flight back was early morning and Mr. Sayed made sure we left with a take-away breakfast. All in all, staying at the New Memnon and the thoughtfulness and hospitality of Mr. Sayed made our time in Luxor truly memorable.

Location is perfect, it's well placed for many wonderful places to visit on the west bank. Turn right out the gate and there is much to see just by walking just 100m down the road. Easy to get the ferry to the East bank too, just a short trip to the ferry by tuktuk or taxi, turn right out the gate start walking and one will come along. The Hotel breakfasts are 1st class, and the evening meal we had at the onsite restaurant - very good food! Rooms are nice and good hot water. Staff very friendly and the owner will do everything he can to make your stay enjoyable. We would Definitely stay there again.

This hotel is spectacular, impeccably clean and decorated. It is located in the West Bank of Luxor and it is close to some of the main tourist attractions like Colossi of Memnon (in front of the hotel), Valley of the Kings, and Temple of Hatshepsut. Every space is very pleasant and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. The room was very clean and spacious, with clean bed clothes and towels. We had a room with a balcony, and the view was beautiful, you can see the air balloons flying around with the sunrise, the best sunsets and a view of the pool and the rural area. The owner, Sayeb treated us like family, he was very welcoming and always open to help. The staff was very polite and respectful people, always with good energy. The included breakfast was amazing, very generous and varied, different fruits, eggs, fresh juices, yogurt, and cheese. They also offer lunch and dinner for a more than fair price, the real Egyptian food and using premium ingredients. I have to say that the food here was best food we had in Egypt, very balanced and delicious. Sayeb also helped us planning the tours, including the air balloon, and we always felt safe and please with all the services.
