Helnan Marselis Hotel

The room was sparkling clean and offered a spectacular view. The beds were comfortable and it was nice to have a tub available. Proximity to swimming and the deer park was a bonus. The recommendation from the hotel staff to order food to have it delivered was spot on and worked really well for us since we arrived on a night when the restaurant was closed. Breakfast offered a few nice gluten-free options.

There was some construction happening in the section of the hotel near us. If we had wanted to sleep late, it would have been annoying. The dinner buffet was over-priced for the choice and quality of the food. Breakfast buffet was sufficient but not excellent.

The staff was lovely, very helpful and they did their best to accomodate our needs. The breakfast was okish, nothing special. The view was lovely and the location is quiet and beautiful. There is as well a gym, pool, sauna and steam bath which are pretty good and not overcrowded. Beds are comfy and overall, a decent price for the whole stay.

The hotel looks like it have seen better days, they really have to sort out the "cleaning" problem. The bathroom seems superficial cleaned, there is lime scale everywhere, spider nets and pretty dusty. The showers at the spa facilities were not better cleaned that the room's bathroom.

Breakfast mediocre, but ok. Late arrival at breakfast found the hot buffet rather uncared for. scrambled eggs funny texture - maybe a powder product? The hotel is a late sixties early seventies design icon and would gain a lot if furnished with stylish furniture of the time. Most furniture is rather neutral with some irritating elements of fake stylish “English Club Style” pieces. mirrors in bathroom look ridiculous. Bathtubs have been removed, so shower space good, but instead of a glass wall they have fitted cheap and flimsy shower curtains that attack you and cling on to you when showering. Annoying having to pay almost 200 DKK to park the car when the room already costs 1300 DKK.

The hotel is in a wonderful location, the sea view was absolutely amazing. The room was clean, big enough, beds comfortable. The breakfast was absolutely great, a choice of everything you want. It wasn't quite warm during our stay, so we also used the indoor pool.

We didn't like paying the parking fee separately in front of the hotel via the website, it would be better for us to include this in the price of the accommodation. We would have liked a teapot in the room, but we could walk down to reception for both tea and coffee.

We had an amazing room, sea view and could walk out on the patio area and could look out over the beach and bay. The hotel is right next to the Infinity Bridge if you fancy taking a walk around that (it is removed in winter though) The pool, sauna and steam room were quiet and lovely to use. Beds were comfy and the shower was very powerful, nice and hot too! There were no tea and coffee facilities in the room which was the only thing that we missed. There were toiletries and spare blankets and pillows. We had to print out our boarding passes to travel home and the reception staff kindly did this for us. Overall we had a wonderful one night stay here. The room was clean and the buffet breakfast was quite extensive include bacon and scrambled eggs, pastries, cereals, cooked meats and vegetables. We parked in the hotel car park for 150 krone but there was on street parking too. The centre of Aarhus is not far but probably best to cycle or drive it unless you fancy a walk along the sea road. The restaurant wasn't open except for breakfast but they explained this to us at check in - we were already aware and ate before arriving but otherwise you'd have to go back into Aarhus to get a meal. Overall we had a fantastic relaxing stay and would definitely stay again.

Tea and coffee in the rooms. Maybe parking could be free for guests? They could give a parking permit to put in your car perhaps to stop non-guests using it.

The morning sun and sea view is what makes this hotel. The rest is at best 3 star, but you forget about the boring restaurant, at best mediocre breakfast and never quite clean rooms because of the location. There is no reason to book without the view. Be warned parking has gone up.

There is always something not quite perfect with the cleaning. Bead clothes etc are fine, but the bath has marks, the table is dusty or the window is not quite clean. Not enough to be a deal breaker but just enough to notice. The breakfast is at best mediocre and really quite boring, but it has everything that you expect. I have been coming here for years and will continue to do so for the view. 😊

The view was stunning and the employees where polite. The room was decent and I had a good night's rest. Everything for showering was present and the pool and fitness where good.

The rooms are not fully isolated which might result in hearing your neighbours. Between the balconies at the ground level, it might be good to have a divider. And the chef was sick so we couldn't eat at the restaurant. The staff did offer to order food and set up a table which was highly appreciated. The TV could use an upgrade but with the stunning view of the sea, you might not even need a tv :-)

Fantastic location. Easy access to and from the city centre with either the 100 or 31 bus routes. Marselisborg Deer Park is a pleasant 10 minute walk away, and breakfast at the hotel was very nice with plenty of choice. The hotel was clean and well presented and all rooms have a sea view. The staff were very friendly and more than happy to help. Would recommend and will be staying there again.

Restaurant and bar closed on Sundays and Mondays, but thats no big deal when you have an array of choices in Aarhus city centre.

Amazing sea view (sunrise in the morning) and direct access to the beach Pool, sauna, and steambad were perfect after a day of work, free, easily accessible and not crowded. Swimwear mandatory (also in sauna). There are long chairs and the pool has a sea view as well. Open from 7am to 11pm! Personnel was very nice and could fix any issue swiftly We didn't had a boiler in the room for tea, but we asked the reception and they provided one within 10 min. Bed and bedroom super comfortable, quiet room Bus stop a few hundreds meters from the hotel, with very regular buses to the city (in 10-15 min). You can buy the tickets on the app or in the bus (with cash only, 22DKK) Variety and quality of food at breakfast, including vegan options

Only minor details, mentioned for information (our stay was overall absolutely excellent!!): The cinnamon rolls are a bit dry at breakfast The pillows on the bed were a bit too high for my personal preference, but that is a detail No iron board in the room (but surely available at the reception) No free coffee in the room / hotel A bathrobe could have been convenient to go to the swimming pool

A classic, showing a bit of it's age. This hotel's best feature is it's location on the shores of the bay of Aarhus with miles of walkable shoreline. Just outside of the city so you could walk in along the sidewalk or shore trails in 20-30 minutes to shopping, the harbor and sections of the old town. So you get beautiful views, quiet and closeness to a big city. Will be listed in our upcoming travel guides. We enjoyed talking walks along the shore, which is very interesting. Sheltered, rocky in places, with trees and lingonberry bushes. Good swimming also. Our room was a deluxe sea view. A good size with a tiled bathroom, comfortable bed and a sitting area with two large french arm chairs. Great to sit in the chairs and watch the waves roll in. Floor to ceiling windows in front and a big sliding glass door. Also a balcony. Staff was friendly and helpful. Both at the front desk and in the breakfast area. Breakfast was good, a small selection. Better on Saturday and Sunday than on Friday. On our last day we watched the sunrise over the bay.

Needs a little TLC to shine again (hard though we know with the pandemic over the previous two years).
