Homewood Suites by Hilton Hamilton

We loved the suite we were assigned. It was spacious and the view of Hamilton city was really nice - finally, no parking lot view, but an actual view of something pleasant without the constant noise of highway traffic. It was such a pleasant stay. The staff was very helpful coming and going. Great parking facility. Lovely decor in the lobby. Safe and attractive location.

The room card was quite confusing and we found it difficult to use at first. A little more explanation at the beginning would have been helpful. Difficulty with figuring out how to get into the hotel from the parking area. Just a little more information at the beginning would have prevented the frustration. Not everything is obvious to everyone.

The room was perfect. Little kitchenette with stove top, dishwasher, full size fridge. Complimentary snacks and pop. Bathroom was excellent with big shower. Comfortable bed with big sitting room. Underground parking was $12 for the night and had a 6'6" height which fit my truck. Breakfast was included which had sausages, eggs, French toast, muffins, bagels, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea, juice. Definitely worth the price.

The only negative thing I can think of is, they give us a room with a kitchenette with no cutlery, bowls, plates, cups. However it did have pots for cooking, but no frying pan.

The location was great and the full breakfast was wonderful.

After booking this hotel, they announced a scheduled power outage that occurred over night for 5-6 hours. I would not have booked this hotel should I have know about the power outage. It was uncomfortable to know that the building had no power overnight while we slept. Should there of been an emergency, I feel that it would have been difficult to get so many people out of the building. They did provide flashlights but we paid full price for the accommodation to have no power.

Great location, staff was helpful, decor was nice, I was glad to be able to check in early, nice that I could adjust the thermostat, the fridge was spacious, the building felt safe/secure, there were plenty of outlets and the lighting was good. It was essentially what I expected.

Kitchenettes were lacking supplies (plates, cutlery, etc.) Toilet and shower/bath were separate from the sink and that was awkward (and unsanitary?). Staff was helpful but not that friendly. The blankets were small and thin. The TV had cable only and I couldn’t connect my Chrome Cast.

The beds were so comfortable. I often have difficulty sleeping, but not here. The suite was huge - one could easily stay for a lengthy period of time comfortably. Even though they were short-staffed, the service at the hotel when we reached was terrific. The included breakfast was acceptable, although limited for those with gluten sensitivities.

There was a lot of confusion about our room before we arrived. Before our arrival, the hotel tried to move us to a different hotel a bit further away and a cheaper less rated hotel (but wanted us to pay the same price). We eventually agreed to a different room in the hotel we booked to keep the location, only to find that we were given the room we booked once we arrived. The television also kept losing its signal. The restaurant/bar did not open until 5:00. It would have been nice for people checking in at 2:00-3:00 to have access to snacks as there were no restaurants next door. While not too far away, it was necessary to walk a few blocks to find places to grab a bite.

Big room this time I had a clear view of city hall, Bar with food. Laundry, pool, gym free big breakfast of good foods. It was egg McMuffin style sandwich and waffles fruit salad, whole apples, oranges, banana, 2 types of juice, coffee, tea, buns jams, boiled eggs. Good stuff! Bar good for drinking and rest nice view. Ok for clean, not perfected. Store at front desk. One stop shop. Change for washer, free ice. The cost was ok it was on sale. The bar food is good the flat bread and dip she gave me a block worth of cream chesses and 2 flatbreads worth for $5.99 but it was clearly made a head of time and microwaved over cooked a bit at the bottom but forgiven with great taste. $9 salad good but small but loaded with nuts and cheese so I guess worth it. $11.99 bottle wine for about $22.99 but that's normal at a motel I don't know if they pay full price like us so they need to make some money on it but not to bad.

Pool was a bit scummy around edges but mostly clean. Room was clean but table legs always have drips. The bar chairs are a bit ruff condition. Downtown Hamilton is full of sick people and it's hard to look at but it's not the motels fault. The pulled pork tacos were chicken but forgiven because they were good taco shell a bit stale but microwaved for a few sec fixed it. McMuffin style sandwich bun a bit old but 5 sec in microwave fixed it and it was very good flavor. Broken washers and dryers put money in a not working one needed to switch as it was not clearly marked only lost $2 so I'm not sad.

Our suite was clean and comfortable, breakfast was simple on the first day with more variety on the weekend. We enjoyed the selection, there was something for everyone.

I would have appreciated if parking was free as it was not indicated during the booking that it would be paid parking.

The suite was clean and comfortable. Overall the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The food for breakfast was good and fresh. Would stay again. Please see what we did not like note.

the older lady serving the grab and go breakfast was very rude and short with several guests including me. She said she was raised that way and something about its her “culture”. (Her words) I spoke to her with another guest explaining that this was no way to speak to people. She further explained to us that she was short staffed/ busy and since we came in at the last minute she had reasons to be like that. Breakfast was being served as a grab and go I was standing in live at 9:20. There was hockey tournament guests staying on the floor we booked with most of the kids unsupervised. A suggestion moving forward - be mindful no other guests be booked on the same floor if there are tournaments bookings.

Their suites are spacey and comfortable with the best views of Downtown. Loved their compassion towards pets. Fast and easy service. Felt safe with access controlled doors and elevators.

Breakfast could be more elaborate. Please add Nutella. Not impressed with the TV, couldn’t cast from personal devices onto it. Suggestion: try to provide litter boxes and/or litter for common pets as it may be difficult to carry those around all the time.

There were no USB ports anywhere in the room. I asked in the lobby if they had one to borrow and they said no. We joked together how crazy it was that a modern hotel doesn’t have a single USB. I went to the nearby Dollar Store and they didn’t have any. The cashier joked that I must be staying at the Hilton because everyone comes and buys a charger when they stay there. This obviously an issue management must be aware of and is not acting in.
