The staff was very helpful. The breakfasts satisfying. The gallery was full of beautiful art. The facility seemed very secure. We were able to walk to most of the places we came to see in Vancouver.

Unfortunately, the lodge is located in a part of the City that is inundated with homeless individuals. They roam the street where the lodge is both day and night. We paid a good amount of money for our room for four days and, although no one bothered us, it was very depressing to attempt to leave or come back to the lodge and have to pass by drugged out individuals. The City should do something to help that Lodge.

We stayed 4 nights and got to know the day and night staff, who were so welcoming and friendly. The ambiance and décor of the hotel and rooms was artistic and reflected the indigenous art and traditions the are the foundations of this boutique hotel and art gallery. The rooms were impeccably clean. The breakfast was included and was light, with homemade yogurts, bannock and a couple of sweet loaves. Overall, this was the casual and meaningful experience we were hoping for.

The hotel was conveniently located on the edge of Gastown and only a 10-15 min walking distance from Canada Place. Be mindful that the hotel is close to an non-touristic part of town that you would not want to explore in the evenings. That said, we will stay there again when we go back to Vancouver.

The hotel is beautiful. It even has rooftop access and it was a lovely place to sit and work on my computer. There is security on site most of the night and they are very kind. Breakfast was lovely and it was in a nice community space. The shop had gifts that were unique and support local artists. China town, a mall, the touristy street, Canada place (cruise ships), and great restaurants all in walking distance.

The area the hotel is in has a lot of transitional housing, so anytime I walked outside, and I mean right next store, in front of the parking lot, I witnessed a lot of drug use and some nudity. The hotel has security and they keep right in front of the entrance/shop clear, but it will be a challenging conversation with children if you stay there.

Very comfortable hotel . My room was really large with a little balcony. The decor was beautiful. The hotel is conveniently situated within easy access to public transport, Canada Place, Gas Town and China Town. Facilities are good and there are plenty of places to either buy your own food or visit restaurants. Staff were great and I really enjoyed the breakfast which is included in the price - not your standard hotel buffet but delicious home-made yoghurts and cakes.

There was nothing I disliked about the property. Some people make negative comments about the area but as a solo female traveller I never once felt unsafe.

We loved staying at Skwachàys Lodge. To start, the ethos of the hotel fully aligned with our personal values. We are artists and creatives, and deeply admire, respect and support Indigenous culture. It was so refreshing to be in a space amongst like minded people, surrounded by art and a mission to empower and inspire others. The room was just the right size for a couple - we stayed in the Tlingit Hat suite, which was well-appointed and clean. The robes were cozy and the bed super comfy. The breakfast was quality, tasty, and enough to get the day going - would appreciate more GF/non-dairy options. Coffee machine in main dining area was a bonus for that afternoon pick-me-up. Staff are super kind, helpful and attentive. We had an issue with our front door one day and Nobu assisted us to resolve this quickly (thanks, Nobu!). We thoroughly enjoyed the balcony and 6th floor patio overlooking the neighbourhood. We purchased some art from the gallery and look forward to displaying it at home with pride. Location is solid if you're taking public transportation (10 minutes to subway station, accessible via multiple bus routes, and walkable to all main attractions).

Fantastic Hotel/Lodge - we couldn't have been happier here. The mission of the Hotel appealed to our values and we weren't let down. Other travellers might talk of the 'quality' of the neighbourhood or the 'dubious' nature of people rough sleeping on the streets near the hotel. I think it's important that those of us privileged to travel and stay in hotels see more than just the shiny side of a city. Skwachàys Lodge held a beautiful balance of being authentic, kind, caring and safe. We can't rate the place or the team enough. The breakfast and breakfast lounge was great, too - so much nicer than a generic hotel restaurant. Stay here, take in the art, support the artists. Let your $ do some good rather than go to a corporate chain.

Leaving! We'd have loved to have stayed longer. Thanks for the bag storage.

Bright colourful, so filled with energy. Our room was a good size with renovated bathroom Shower only - but clean, well appointed. We discovered comfy robes, a sauna and rooftop deck which was a pleasant surprise! Breakfast was the basics but included bannock, jams, juices, coffee and tea with yogurt, fruit and granola. The geographical location of the hotel is excellent right at the entrance to Chinatown and blocks away from Gas Town. Easy access by bus. We walked to many tourist sites easily.

The sink tap in the bathroom needs a new washer. As with many locations in big cities the homelessness and drug addiction is pronounced and while we felt perfectly comfortable walking to the hotel in the day time hours, late night would be less so. Nothing a taxi ride or an Uber couldn't remedy.

The rooms and hotel has a cozy feel to it. The location is right near some sites with access to the Sky Train. The Sky Train is about 5 minutes away. At a quick glance I was a little disappointed because the breakfast wasn’t what I expected. However it ended up being quite satisfying with homemade bake goods and fresh orange juice. We had a late departure flight, the staff let us keep our luggage safely locked up. They also let us hang out in their lounge to recharge our phones and bodies before we headed to the airport.

If you are a little large (I’m 6 foot and - little hefty) you may have a hard time with how the bathroom is arranged. Second as most other post tell you there is a few homeless camped out at the end of the street. This is typical of large cities. They won’t bother you as you pass through.

It was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was conveniently located near to a station, buses and Gastown's bars and restaurants. Only a 20 minute walk to central Vancouver. Loved the gallery on the ground floor! Breakfast was great.

The breakfast room was a little cramped and it would have been better if the breakfast bar was located against a wall rather than in the middle of the room, making it hard to navigate when busy and with cups and plates in your hands (not ideal for the older traveller). The area it is located in is ideal for travelling around Vancouver but is spoiled by the presence of lots of homeless people, drunks and drug users. Hastings St nearby is truly awful and I would not feel safe in this area if I was on my own. Hopefully the area will get cleaned up more as Gas Town's improvements continue.

Property is exceptionally clean and comfortable. Arrived early after a 23 hour train trip and hostel stays for a month in Canada to drop my bags off so I could roam about the city and the kind gentleman who greeted me offered to change my room for me as the house keeping was done in that room so I could go up and check in early. I could have cried it made my entire day. The breakfast was insanely good, ate absolutely everything that was served and the waitress kept refreshing anything that was running low so guests were never waiting on food / coffee. Read some reviews before booking stating that the hotel is great but the location was a bit rough and was mildly concerned as a female solo traveller. However, I got back to the hotel at 12am and saw that the hotel had a security guard who was consistently checking the parameters so didn’t feel unsafe. I think honestly if you’re booking a hotel in the major part of the city just be prepared to see the not so great aspects of the city up close.

Nothing property was brilliant and so were the staff. Very calming place.
