Alpha Hotel Canberra

All as expected my only gripe is that essential power points needed for charging my sons iPad were either located behind the beds or under the desk in the centre of the room so consequently I put my back out whilst contorting my fat ass to reach said power points and as I can’t blame my love of chocolate for this I am placing the blame squarely on ummm, yeah whatever.

If the room charges were complementary and I’m possibly being pedantic and overly privileged but a jug of water stored in the fridge would be an excellent alternative to tap water from the bathroom seeing as the provided glasses needed unconditional love and attention without prejudice or discrimination.

Quiet location was lovely and meant we got a very restful sleep after a very early start to get there followed by an early set off the next day. The room had everything you needed and was secure, clean and tidy and well appointed.

Was a little further from city centre then I realised but not too far and worth the drive for the price point. I would recommend new plugs for the baths as the one is our room only just fit and meant for an interesting bath time of continually having to refill if the plug got bumped but that was my only recommendation and not a detriment to the room at all

It was clean it had great relaxing areas. The Rooms were a good size even for those that had three people in them. It was relatively quite once in the room you did not hear corridor noises, this was great it was a busy weekend that we were there. The staff were very helpful easy to approach very accomodating. The location was great for a big group as it had lots of food options within walking distance.

Comfortable bed, clean, quiet and handy on site parking were perfect for what we needed for our recent stay in Canberra for Floriade. Would recommend and would stay again next year. The noise from the room below turning on their shower at 5am. The high pitched squeal woke us as soon as they turned it on. Probably from the taps not being turned on fully. The glass shower door was missing a handle on the inside making it hard to close No breakfast available when we stayed due to Covid but we knew this when we booked.

We booked for three nights, but my husband became very I’ll and we needed to come home a day early. When I spoke to management I was advised to change my booking on the bookin.com website and because they approved my change I was refunded one nights accommodation. I found this was excep tional assistance and in future will book directly with Alpha. I thank all involved

The room was fine. Except for the bathroom, it was not up to standard for seniors. The shower over the bath is most dangerous, you cannot regulate the water temperature from outside the shower because of the screen. Also getting out of the bath there is no handle to hold onto as it is beside the shower. I slipped getting out of the shower and had to grab the screen to steady myself.

Shower was terrible either freezing cold or boiling hot, and if someone in the hotel turns their shower or tap on you get no water pressure, must be a Canberra thing as other places we’ve stayed all have the same issue. No undercover parking at all, come on guys it’s 2022, you should be able to provide some shelter, our motorbikes live in garages at home and have to sit out in an unlit easily accessible car park all night, not even a gate or fence, thought that was pretty poor

We are regular guests of the Alpha as the location and facilities generally are to our liking/convenience. You kept two suitcases for us for a week which saved our carrying and leaving them in a ski-country car park.

We didn"t get a room facing the parking lot which we prefer. The carpet in our room was rumpled with age; the bed seemed slightly less comfortable and we reported the shower head because the 'rose' sprayed water at all angles, most of which were useless!

loved having a back porch to sit out and stare into the bush behind the property. aircon was quiet and worked well, room spotless and well maintained. fridge was actually so quite I had to question if it worked. loved that there was a bistro next door to go for dinner very convenient.

you can’t get in the main door with your key you have to go to the back door. a little odd but my only complaint. could probably reopen their breakfast too. with full pubs and clubs around the place it doesn’t overly make sense to still keep it shut but I digress

Everything looked updated and clean. Staff were great and the place looks really classy.

My room smelled like cigarette from the moment I arrived until morning. The aircon couldn't get rid of the smell. It's freezing outside and the only thing that would work was opening a window in the morning. We arrived late evening after travelling so reception was closed soon after we checked in. Had our timing not been late I'm sure the lovely staff would've moved us. I'd definitely stay again.
