Holiday Inn Express & Suites - Rapid City - Rushmore South, an IHG Hotel

We selected this location for our one night stay due to its proximity to Mt. Rushmore. It was only 25-30 minutes to the Park. The facility was "new" and clean, comfortable, and accessible.

Our only challenge after going to Rushmore that evening was finding somewhere to eat at 10:00 p.m. in the pouring rain. Fortunately, the new convenience store adjacent to the hotel was wonderful, had fresh sandwiches and other items, so we were able to fill up our gas and our stomachs in one stop.

Absolutely everything. Driving from one job in Carolina to another in Seattle and back, I have stayed in many hotels. This is my favorite stay. At check in, Steve got us taken care of. He really did a fabulous job. He directed us to the local food delivery services. I really liked the luggage racks. Grub hub delivers to that address. The beds were soft, the right height off the floor, and clean. The bathroom was clean. I liked the Dove products. The TV was easy to operate. There were enough outlets for all our devices. The room had no odor. The hotel had many guests, but it was quiet. It was even quiet all night and into the morning. I could not hear slamming doors or the distant conversations of other guests. At some places, the maids will make noise in the morning such as leaving a running vacuume outside your door, or slam doors loudly next door in order to wake you and get you up and on your way, so they can clean your room and go home, but not here. hated to leave. Parking lot is trailor friendly. Gas right across the street.

The hot tub was only lukewarm around 89 degrees. And probably only a that warm because a kid peed in it. The shower water pressure was mediocre. Not much a facility can do about that.

The hotel was quiet and clean. Grrar location relative to area attractions and easy to get in and out of the area. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was always warm and kept fully stocked. The room was spacious and comfortable for three adults.

Wish there were closer restaurants. All dining options required driving several miles. Parking seemed limited and was quite full at night.

The property is fairly new and clean and easy access points. Breakfast in the morning was very good with many different items to choose from. Property is located very close to Mt Rushmore and surrounding Black Hills attractions.

Since its a new property the surrounding area hasn’t been developed, its a few minutes drive to find restaurants. We were out all day so we dined before returning to hotel , no big deal !

The breakfast was quite good, way better than Best Western. I ran out of toothpaste, it was nice that I could get some at the front desk.

My only complaint was room service. I do expect clean towels and the bed made daily. Did not happen the first day, had to ask the second day. I don't expect clean sheets daily, like in the olden days, but for the price I do want the bed made and dry towels.

Breakfast choices were many. Food was fresh. Like having fresh fruit. Employee was very helpful. Plenty of room to find a table to eat. Clean eating area that was kept clean by staff.

Calls to the hotel to change reservation was not real warm. May have been a busy time, but person on the phone seemed to be in a hurry to get me off the phone. When I checked in, I had to wait somewhere between 5 - 10 minutes for someone to come to the front desk to check me in.

the cleanliness and because its newer building

that i got a call from the desk saying they got a complain from another room because of too much stomping on the floor. we were just walking and its not our issue if the building is made of lighter materials. the first night we heard a lot of noise from the room across us from kids and adults, we can hear even the vibration of cellphone alarming from the room beside us. the second night, there were real stomping from the ones above our room.

The room was very comfortable. The AC fan kept any road noise down to a minimum.

No housekeeping without requesting.

Breakfast was outstanding. The staff was also outstanding. I liked the location easy to get to. The lobby is beautiful and clean.

The whirlpool was down. And perhaps the rooms could use a little bit more detail for cleaning. The corners are hard to clean but I think if you would do this in each room once or twice a year would help. Also these areas would not breakdown as quickly. It is a very nice place and would love it a little more detail would be applied. The staff behind the deck could use a little bit more training on the computer. But they were friendly.

The hotel was very clean. We had a room with two Queen beds plus a pull out sofa bed which we needed as we were traveling with our three grand children. They did not clean during our three night stay but we were able to get clean towels and extra supplies from the front desk. The breakfast was quite good especially for the kids. There was a coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave in the room which was great. Unfortunately there was no outside seating and the pool was indoors. The hotel worked out perfectly for our trip to Mount Rushmore and all the other local attractions.

No outdoor space to sit and relax.
