Abbots Mead Hotel

Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, even helped me book a taxi to take me to my friend's wedding. Breakfast was great and the timings were very civilized - not too early! Location was brilliant for getting into the town - only a 5-10 minute walk to most places - and it felt very safe for a solo traveller. Room was comfortable and well stocked with tea and coffee. It was a rather warm day on arrival so I very much appreciated the fan that was in the room!

Room was slightly on the small side, which was perfect for me on my own but might be a bit of a tight squeeze for two! Not a problem, just thought I would mention it :)

As it is a family run business the owners were very welcoming and pleasant. The location of the hotel is right in the middle of the Town centre and you can walk everywhere from there. We had booked the basement room which had one double and one single bed and as we went on a hot day the room was lovely and cool. Nice clean bathroom with a bath which also included a shower and also iron with board provided. Breakfast is cooked fresh and exactly how you like it not like the main big hotels that have breakfast already cooked and can be dry. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate sachets included in you rooms.

The only downside is that there was no fridge in the room.

I have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions over the years and have never encountered any problems at all. Check in is always quick and efficient and the rooms are always clean and welcoming. The hotel is conveniently located for walking into town and there are a number of good restaurants and bars within easy distance. Despite the town being so close, as well as a couple of pubs just along the street, it's usually very quiet with little or no disturbance. Breakfast is always good with a range of cooked options available in addition to cereals, fruit and yoghurt if you want something lighter and the waiting staff are always attentive. I usually reach the bus or railway station in around 15 minutes despite some of it being an uphill trek. Highly recommended.

Great location with complimentary parking which is a big plus in Shrewsbury. Spotless rooms, comfortable beds, ticks alot of boxes

This isn't meant to be a negative as the quality of breakfast was very good, efficient, a little too efficient unfortunately for me. My partner had finished but we still had toast left in the rack and I still had food left on my plate and was still eating toast when she attempted taking my plate. I did express at the time I felt this was very rude while I was still eating...I feel personally no plates should be took until the table have completely finished. At that point we just left and went back to the room. Please don't make people feel rushed that's all

Although i had booked a basement room they asked on arrival if i would prefer a different room for no extra cost -it was nice to see something out of the window :) Plenty of storage space. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious and staff were very friendly and helpful. They allowed me to store my luggage there until later in the afternoon when i got a taxi to the train station, which was really helpful to me. They also provided a number for a taxi firm.

I don't think there were any hooks in the room which would have been helpful to hang a coat or dressing gown on.

The bed was very comfortable. Clean and staff were lovely. Breakfast was very nice. We had a very pleasant stay.

The parking but due to the location in town, is not much you can do, at least is free. I think it is a bit overpriced in terms of our bedroom was in the basement and just underneath reception, so noises during the day was +++ of everyone walking, noises of the water system were loud and often. You could hear conversations clear from outside and people talking in reception. I will probably repeat but another bedroom.

The location is excellent with easy access to the town and river. Breakfast was served with a smile and was cooked to perfection. The room was small but had everything we needed and was very warm. We had a problem with noisy plumbing but the duty manager was quick to assist us, very supportive and the issue was sorted out in a very short time so did not effect our enjoyment of our stay.

There was a slight draft from the sash window but as they are original it's to be expected, good quality curtains helped mitigate the problem. A lower shelf in the cupboard would be useful.

The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and the breakfast was excellent. The location really convenient. The hotel was excellent value for money. Within 30 minutes of checking out I received a phone call telling me I'd left my phone charger behind, so was able to retrieve it before going home.

I was in the basement room which suffered somewhat from being directly underneath the reception area. The ceiling creaked and I could hear conversations and a quiet television above until around 11pm. However it did stop and I had a good night's sleep.

As soon as I walked in it was greeted by a polite friendly gentleman and there dog he was so cheerful and helpful he carried my case up to my room and nothing was too much, it was utterly spotless clean every where. the room was spotlessly clean, bed was super cosy and comfortable and i slept like a logg and fab shower and the breakfast was so so tasty, loved the cosy bar they have. nothing was too much the staff was super friendly tand attentive even too my dog. I WILL 100% stay again. and there is a great bus service that is cheap to use and bus stop 2 min walk away! and there is a wonderful river to walk along 2 second walk away from the hotel and some lovely pubs that are all dog friendly to have a. ice bar meal. The hotel was super quiet and peaceful too !

Quiet location and very good breakfast.The staff were very Friendly and helpful.. Located near river, park and places of interest. Easy to come and go at hotel.

We had the basement room which was a bit dark and could have done with either more lamps or brighter light especially near dressing table. Also no bedside light by single bed as no power point so may benefit from one being put there.
