I want to thank Julie on a personal basis. My reason for visit was to see UB40 at the Telford Arena. Julie took me to the arena and picked me after the concert finished. Great time at the bar when we returned . I would highly recommend the Ugly Duckling to anyone visiting the beautiful county of Shropshire. Bed at 02.30 but what the hell - we had a great night. Thx too to the couple from Peckham I met at the bar (Del boy land). Young lady at reception in the morning so helpful - booked my taxi to Wellington. Hope Julie can make it to Cardiff one day? We going for lunch at Ty Madeira. A sincere thank you to everyone at The Ugly Duckling . Please take care good care and enjoy your life. Love Wayne 🌹🌹

Absolutely nothing

Stayed one night with my daughter,our room was clean with comfortable bed and pillows. Was a twin but beds were pushed together, you could move them but would have had to moved bedside tables, wasn't an issue for us to leave beds as they were. Decor was nice. We ate dinner in the restaurant and both enjoyed our meals, it wasn't too busy in the restaurant and we were served by a very nice young waitress. Breakfast - both had pancakes which were really nice and very filling! There were plenty of choices for breakfast. There is a nice large outside seating area, nice comfortable, garden furniture. Our room was above the seating area but we didn't have any noise issues later in the evening. Staff overall were friendly.

Would have liked more vegetarian options on the main dinner menu.

Clean and excellently appointed. Location was ideal for the purpose of our trip. Small light on the bathroom mirror was excellent for those of us who frequent the bathroom during the night. Excellent cooked breakfast.

No shelf or rack in the shower to hold toiletries, soap, shampoo etc. Would have liked to have known the policy for booking a breakfast time, in advance, as we thought it was always available during the stated opening times. Green safety light was a necessary evil.

Clean, comfortable, good value for money. Warm welcome on arrival. Breakfast and dinner waitress helpful and charming.

Brusque and inconsistent treatment at the evening. Nowhere for hotel guests to not be treated like pub guests. Jostled out at end of meal and told to take drinks with us to our room! Food in the restaurant was a bit hit and miss, and took a long time coming. One disappointing meal, one enjoyable one.

Excellent breakfast and morning staff

Bathroom a tad small but service in restaurant in the evening was pretty poor. it’s a busy restaurant and they were not coping very well Sunday lunch booked at 4:15 for 6 plus two children table not ready until 4:45 first cause arrived 5:40. mains 6:15 half of the party had to leave at 6;45 because had work ordered desert at 6:52 arrived 7.25 even the bill took almost 10 mins to arrive finally had it and paid at 7:45.

Breakfast was fabulous. You could have had a full English , a vegetarian full English and a variety of others. I asked for gluten free and they were happy to do that. The room was very clean and tidy, and had everything we needed including a fan, which was perfect as it was a very hot night. I loved the theme of ducks that carried through from the restaurant, to the bar and to the rooms. We even had duck themed complimentary shampoo and conditioner. Jack on the bar, was an absoloute gem and he had an excellent choice in music - even the music was fabulous. I would highly recommend this place, everything was just right.

Very friendly, beautiful rooms, great staff food amazing

Was told to use the back stairs if we came back after midnight. Came home at 1130 with my 5 year old. Went to use back stairs but it was pitch black and all I could see is the lit up outside toilet. I really started to panic luckily I saw a member of staff as she was leaving and took us to the dark metal stairs, definitely need lighting around there. Spoke to another couple at breakfast and they struggled too

Nice pub environment, restaurant area was light and airy, food choice was good as was the quality, prices were ok. Bedroom was well finished with comfortable bed and decent shower. Breakfast was freshly cooked and excellent quality, with many options on the menu. All staff were helpful, cheerful and attentive.

Facilities were good but several items in the bedroom needed attention such as, the window blind was broken, bathroom mirror back light was not working, main bathroom light was either broken or needed bulb replacing. Some update work was going on but did not really cause any problems.

What can i say the staff were so lovely and the manager julie went above and beyond to and really made us feel so welcome shes just so lovely. The pubs decor was stunning and they are building a firepit and seating area outside and it's going to look stunning. The rooms were modern and nicely decorated the beds were so comfy too and the little attention to detail was just perfect. The breakfast food was 10/10 and the choice on the menu was amazing i was so impressed. Compliments to the chef I would 100% go back to the ugly duckling.

There was nothing too not like it was PERFECT !!!!

Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. The staff in there were super friendly. While enjoying an evening drink we watched one member of staff go the extra mile to assist an elderly customer. It was so nice to watch a very busy member of the team take time to make sure the customer was ok. The rooms were lovely and although it is a busy pub we were not disturbed at all. The garden are has recently been renovated and provides a lovely area to relax after a long journey.
