This beautiful old inn is very near to the rail station and harbour with lots of shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Overall, it is exceptional value with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We slept in room 5 which overlooks a big, completely enclosed patio and garden. It was very quiet but could be noisier in the summer when people are outside. The room was very warm - much needed during a cold snap. I noticed that there was a fan in the cupboard and that the window could be open fairly wide for warmer weather. There a double bed: a standard double, not king which was fine for us, and a single bed too; it was still quite spacious around the beds. There was good tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits and a wide screen TV too. Everything worked fine. In the bathroom there was some bath/shower gel, mini soap and shampoo - it has both a bath and the sort of shower that you use, standing, in the bath. At just over £50 per night I felt it was exceptional value. The free parking from 4pm to 9am at the nearby harbour car park was good (rates reasonable for the day - think to a max. of £6-£7, but we didn't use)

Very good location, literally over the road from the Rail Station and close to the Town Centre. Excellent breakfasts cooked to order. Decent-sized room, well-presented.

The main thing was the booking system for meals. I arrived around 19:30, checked in, showered, changed and went back downstairs planning to have dinner in the pub. They would not serve me, saying that they already had two orders and the meal service finished at 20:30. I was on my own and a resident and they could not manage one extra meal when they only had two orders to get out in half an hour! Also, time slots had to be booked for breakfast, which is not ideal when you are on holiday. It just seemed a bit bureaucratic. The housekeepers could be more attentive. No shower gel was left after the first and second nights of my stay.

Staff were amazing throughout our stay. Helpful and kind they were more than happy to help us. The location is also AMAZING, literally a stone's throw away from the station. Breakfast is a choice of several things but the delicious Cornish Fry up was an excellent portion for a hearty eater as well.

We were in room 14 and the double glazing wasn't there which meant that there was some black mould on the corner of the ceiling of our room near the window. The rest of our family had room 2 which was amazing and had nothing to comment poorly on. The shower pressure isn't strong, but it's warm and you get soap suds out.

Comfortable bed in a spacious room, shower worked very well even though I couldn't read the dial because I had forgotten to check with my glasses on first, and the TV was very good. Staff were very helpful in explaining everything. Evening meal was very enjoyable and breakfast was excellent. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

Traffic noise in the evening was noticeable, but with a main road outside my window there isn't much you can do about that. I walk with a stick and did find being on the second floor a bit difficult taking my case up and down but that was my fault as I didn't think to mention it when I booked.

+ The location couldn't be better; it's literally right behind the Penzance train station and bus terminal, in the heart of the city centre. + I appreciated having a side entrance to come and go, so I didn't have to tromp through the pub lobby every time I went in and out of my room. + Fantastic tea service, with local Cornish tea *and* instant coffee, *and* hot chocolate! This was a treat to come back to in the evenings. + Outlets conveniently located by the nightstands and the desk. + Comfy bed.

- I couldn't seem to get the room warm (though I think it would've helped if I'd closed both sets of double glazing earlier), so my allergies, which get triggered by changes in temperature, wound up raging out of control 😂 - I had the hardest time figuring out how to activate the hot water in the shower; in the end, I figured it out accidentally (by pulling what I thought was the cord for the bathroom fan). - No lift, so I had to lug my suitcase up a rather winding corridor with two sets of stairs.

The location is perfect just outside the railway station for arriving and touring by train, plus for the main shops and pubs. The people working there were exceptionally friendly, jovial, and attentive particularly for check-in and breakfast. The bedroom was comfortable.

There was little not to like. Although not serious enough to be a complaint, the shower water flow was a little weak and the curtain a little short so hard to stop the floor getting wet so that could be something to improve. It was disappointing that the bar was shutting early at night but we found that was typical of the whole town at this time and seems to reflect the times we're in.

They were very proactive in making contact (and actively staying in contact after GWR delays meant an after-hours arrival which was well managed). Comfortable and very well maintained single room. Excellent breakfasts and close to walks, circuit and local buses and trains. Perfectly located for seeing Lands End to St Ives if you don’t have a car. Busy bar and restaurant, friendly staff, and very quiet rooms upstairs. Would be very happy to stay again,

It was a really good stay, offering everything I needed, including a laundromat across the road. What,s not to like?

what’s not to like.. great position & fabulous value for money

Our room could have been made up after we put the the sign up on our door in the morning. We were only a two night stay though & the barman gave us all we needed to replenish our comp tea/coffee tray - thanks. A polite suggestion to management - if you are a true professional, perhaps the private doorway to the street & upstairs rooms is not the ideal place to hold a very lengthy and frankly extremely humiliating disciplinary meeting with a member of your staff….the young lady was very distressed & may have been in the wrong, but she is entitled to a private space and an advocate!!

The Longboat Inn was an excellent base from which we launched our LEJOG cycling adventure. The staff were very welcoming and permitted us to keep our touring bikes in our room - which was large enough to easily accommodate them. The bed was comfy, the room had views of the bay, and the hotel is centrally located and close to the rail station. The Full Cornish Breakfast was excellent. We dined in the restaurant too and the food was great and our waiter (Dietmar?) really looked after us. We will certainly stay here again.

Fabulous staff, everyone was so friendly! Lovely shower Nice breakfast menu available. No fruit though Homely atmosphere

Small rooms + quite cramped corridors - We had a buggy and cot for our baby and it was quite difficult to get up the stairs (no lift) and in through the tight corridors. A little closterphobic but we managed!!?! Cleaning staff didn't change / refresh my parents towels even though they left them in the bathtub. They did mine when asked, so maybe ask for that on check in! Breakfast finishes quite early - 9.30 latest.
