Spacious and comfortable country inn. Nicely appointed rooms, and a shower that just has to be experienced once in your life.

Incessant music, from early morning to inn close, played above a comfortable level. Not just a background din, but drive-you-out-of-the-room noise, penetrating the upstairs rooms…out of place for a country inn atmosphere.

This place is a must stay in my opinion. I can’t put into words how lovely the whole stay way from the room, the food, the staff and the atmosphere it was all excellent. The food is absolutely outstanding and a must try, we had two meals here and both were fantastic. We met and had a good chat with quite a few members of staff and all of them were so lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. The building it’s self is enough to make you want to stay there, it’s stunning, rustic but modern and makes you feel at home and at ease the second you walk in. The big couches around the fire are perfect for a glass of wine and a game of cards. The room was stunning, we stayed in the torsin suite and everything about it exceeded my expectations. Again, the decor was beautiful and the room was huge with everything you needed but the stand out was the bathroom … I’ve never seen a bigger bathroom and the roll too bath was big enough to swim in. As a whole this place is special and we will 100% be returning even if it’s just for the bangers and mash!

Isn’t a con but maybe think about putting a bell or something along those lines on reception. It didn’t bother us but we were waiting a bit to check in and check out because there isn’t someone constantly there. We weren’t bothered by it but we can imagine some people would be.

We spent 2 nights here with friends to celebrate a birthday and also the start of our Christmas festivities. The whole experience has been exceptional, fabulous bedrooms, gorgeous food and helpful, friendly staff providing excellent service. We have loved every minute... thank you to all the team at The Plough

We actually had a conversation with our friends at our last morning breakfast and said we couldn't fault anything at The Plough. The only thing I would recommend is book a taxi well in advance if you are venturing elsewhere as they are not readily available otherwise I would definitely recommend you to spend some quality time here relaxing & recharging

The Torsin Suite exceeded expectations in comfort, size, style and luxury. There were so many carefully curated interior design touches. The extra large double bed was extremely comfortable, as was the seating area. The bathroom alone was larger than some hotel bedrooms, furnished with dual washbasins, a freestanding bath and a large waterfall shower; and supplied with locally produced toiletries. Staff were friendly and The Plough provided a cosy and welcoming environment in which to dine and relax. Food at dinner was excellent. Breakfast was prepared fresh to order from an extensive menu which catered for traditional and contemporary tastes with vegetarian options.

Nothing. The Plough is situated about 3 miles from Kirkby Lonsdale so best suited to those prepared to drive to amenities.

All the staff went the “extra mile” to make our stay memorable. If a welcoming smile was the common currency at The Plough every staff member was cut from the same cloth. Our spacious, comfortable room/suite made for an exceptional stay. Coupled with an interesting menu, served in a cosy atmosphere there was much to enjoy. A hearty breakfast, freshly cooked to order put us on the road in great heart.

The wet weather, but as it was Cumbria, it was to be expected.

What a little gem of a find! We stopped off for 1 night here, travelling down from Scotland to Derbyshire. It was a perfect location being minutes from the M6. Super Dog friendly so helpful, warm & inviting. Beautiful comfortable cosy retreat with luxurious bathroom. Beautiful local toiletries all provided along with bathrobes! Lilly Coffee machine, teas hot chocolate, biscuits, water & more! Everything was super clean & beautifully presented praise to all staff who keep those standards of care. We even had a free upgrade, which was a lovely surprise! Meals - both evening & breakfast were great quality, really fresh & tasty. We will definitely return on our next journey couldnt fault a thing! We loved it, thank you 😊

Nothing! Couldn't fault anything!

Amazing rooms, wonderful food, friendly staff.

I stayed in the Torsin suite. 2 days running I had to ask for the music below to be turned down. Again it started at 7.30am on Sunday morning (third day). Why don’t the staff talk to each other about what should be the max level. I also add that it would be better without any. The boom boom in the room was awful. It was turned down when requested. Steak knives should automatically offered when a guest has a steak , not a request. Toilet brushes were not in the room. I hope my comments are taken on board because in general it is a lovely place to stay.

Full marks right from arrival: a warm welcome, a well-pulled pint in front of the fire, a lovely bedroom with a comfortable king size bed and an enormous bathroom with roll top bath and monsoon shower, toiletries, robes and huge towels. Great walks from the pub. Beautifully cooked, locally sourced food for dinner, again with friendly staff. Fantastic breakfast. We will come again!

Nothing at all.

The Plough is a pub with rooms...but what a pub with rooms! The place is lovely. Our room was large and very well appointed - the wifi was excellent. Our bathroom was huge with a large bath and a separate shower. I think that almost all of the people who design hotel bathrooms must be men with beards! Women who make up and men who shave need light on their faces in front of the mirror. Trendy downlighters really don't cut it. The restaurant has won awards for its cooking and our good-value meal justified them. The Plough is very conveniently situated about a mile off the M6, around half way between Edinburgh and London. Just what we wanted. An excellent, high quality breakfast set us up for the second half of our journey.

Our room at the back of the hotel was very peaceful but the building is right on a very busy road. I don't know whether there are any rooms at the front but I shouldn't want to try to sleep in one. On the morning of our stay, the hotel did send us an e-mail, buried at the end of which was a warning that, as it was a Sunday, the restaurant closed at 6pm. I didn't notice this and was surprised when I found out (it would have influenced my choice of hotel). But, although we did have to arrive in the restaurant by 6 o-clock, we were not hurried to order or finish our meal. The staff seem all very young and there didn't appear to be anyone in charge; that left just a tiny hint of disorder, although this in no way detracted from the pleasure of our short stay.

This was booked for a stop over on our way back from Scotland to West Lancashire. I'd booked the Torsin room, absolutely amazing and so spacious. A little bit of luxury was what we wanted. Even a record player and some vinyls in the room were a pleasant surprise. Could not fault the room at all, extremely comfy bed and I really enjoyed a hot soak in the beautiful bath tub. Although there was a little wait for food it was very good, we ate in the restaurant in the evening with a sufficient amount of choice on the menu. The breakfast didn't disappoint either. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Good customer service is extremely important to me.

Not so much what I didn't like but being on a main road and our room being at the front it was rather noisy with the passing traffic. It did die down later on and picked up again early morning however, it wasn't a huge issue.
