Stayed in the hotel with my four sisters (in separate rooms) visiting Hook to surprise my father on his 80th Birthday. My father & mother were eating in the restaurant when we arrived and surprised him. The staff who we told about the surprise could not have done anymore to help us with this event. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely stay again.

My mother came to collect us because we had children on one occasion and she got a parking ticket even though she didn't leave the car but was sitting in the carpark for about 10min waiting for us to come out and load the children into the car. She wasn't aware that she had to put her details on to the computer when she was only picking us up to help with the children. She called the hotel afterward & they agreed to cancel the ticket when she gets it, but it would be good it there was a minimum stay were you didn't get charged, for example 10-15mins.

Everything was very comfortable and well organisation. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and a good selection for breakfast. The staff were more than helpful and very kind. Staff were friendly bed was a good size breakfast was good value for money

Only 3 pillows in a double room, when asked for another one they said they didn't have any spare ones!! Didn't make for a great night's sleep. Shower was stuck on really hot and it was scolding hot. No one free to fix so couldn't have a shower. Breakfast had to wait over half hour for breakfast to be served. People who came in after us were served before us. When questioned about this was told its coming but the chef had 15 orders all at the same time.?! Still had to wait. Staff eating their breakfast behind the bar in front of us!! Shame really as theses things are easily fixed but spoilt the very rare night away for me.

Room was a very good size and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub has a vibrant atmosphere and clearly popular with the locals. Good selection of draft beer and a couple of guest Ails on tap.

The breakfast finished a little earlier than expected on Sunday at 9.45am sharp so we just missed it. Slightly odd time to finish but we were probably told. The on suit was in need of a revamp as a little tired, with no hooks anywhere to hang damp towels. That said the shower was nice and hot with plenty of pressure.

The cleanliness of the room, the surroundings (the village), the facilities in the room and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would definatly stay here again if I was in the area.

The food I ordered, on two occasions, was not that good unfortunately. The chilli con carne I ordered seemed to be a child's portion. They also put the tortilla chips into the chilli which made them soggy! It advertised the rice had corriandar in it, but there was no sign of Corriander at all. The mushroom bap I ordered for breakfast hadn't been toasted or buttered and it was served in a brioche bun, which was sickly sweet.

Was looking for a place to stay to break up our return journey from London to Cornwall a lnd found this place. Superb from check-in to check-out. Nice big room, comfy bed with tea/coffee facilities, TV etc. Went in the pub, great big beer garden. We also ate and was really nice, especially the wife's curry platter! Staff were fantastic, immediate service at the bar and food came out in less than 15 mins. Has BT Sport/Sky and loads of TVs in different areas of the bar. It's less than a couple of miles off the M3 which is ideal. If we are in the area again we will definitely stay here.

Shower height on the small side but then again I'm 6ft 2. That said it was like a power shower so all good.

The staff were welcoming and helpful, the room was clean, very quiet location and convenient to Hook railway station by a 5 minute walk and overall good value for money and we would stay again.

I would have given 10/10 but the lack of choice at breakfast particularly with only fried eggs being available let it down slightly, hence my 9/10…….scrambled, boiled, poached eggs are not difficult to do but sadly they are not available when we asked for scrambled eggs.

Great location great pub lovely staff

TV didnt work so was moved room but waited a while sat in room after problem waiting to unpack as didnt know if was going to be moved or not and was not communicated to so did not know what was happening until I went to check. I asked the guy why TVs are not checked as part of the prep he told me they are all checked. Just couldnt get my head around that as mine was completely broken. Next day I put do not disturb sign on door but cleaner still knocked to see if I wanted towels changed so the sign a bit pointless. Apart from that was OK although this was my 3rd time here and my last now as I just felt like I had to argue my point all the time. However the man was very professional and lovely bloke just felt wierd that every valid point I had was argued.

All the staff deserve top marks, especially the breakfast lady, (and the chef!) Room was clean quiet and comfortable, the bathroom spotless. Don't bother with the breakfast included rate, you can pay on the day for no more, and maybe less if you only want a small breakfast. Free WiFi worked well Big plus for us checking at 15:00 allowed a rest before going to a function in the evening, return after midnight no problem and noon check out meant there was no rush to get up, except for breakfast (until 9:30).

We were in the old part (room 5), part of The White Hart, which is great for the "Character" of an old beamed room in an old inn, I think the pictures may reflect the newer building behind the pub, and the rooms may be bigger. Not a complaint but emails from the hotel seemed to have about 6 repeats of the message in them, sticky keys?

very friendly manager who couldn’t do enough to make our stay pleasurable. Pub itself is quaint with a good local trade and the rooms easily accessed from the pub. large car park at the rear means there are no problems with parking. Breakfast was excellent with local produce used. The hotel will be glossed early 2023 for a complete refurb which will then make it exceptional. Will definitely use this pub/hotel again as our base for Basingstoke.

Nothing that the refurb won’t put right.
