the breakfasts were exceptional - they know how to poach an egg properly! all the breakfast staff were good, friendly. slight problem with room - should have had a room with a shower (not a shower over the bath) - as I am disabled. Understand this hotel has limited stock of such rooms - however the receptionist did her best to find a room suitable, which I could access with a wheelchair, but still only a shower over the bath - which was a bit of a problem. Perhaps the hotel needs to update this situation. Location was the best, All the other staff were exceptional and friendly.

evening meals were a bit bland, not a great choice - ok if you like burgers! Strawberry cheesecake - did not have any strawberries. quality OK, but presentation poor.

The location was excellent and gave easy access to the whole of Ely's attractions. The receptionists were friendly and efficient. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Although, the room was very warm for us, a fan was provided, which resolved the issue. Tea and coffee making facilities were excellent with biscuits. Parking was available on site even though we arrived early in the evening. There was a restaurant facility and pub on site. Options for breakfast were extensive and good value for the all-inclusive rate. Dinner was lovely too. The rooms were quiet.

My breakfast and cup of tea were a little on the cool side a couple of times, but other than that, the food was excellent.

Got the same room as during my visit last August, but it had since been done up and improved - all without losing its cozy feeling. Staff have all been wonderful and even remembered my preferences when it came to breakfast, tea etc., making the whole experience feel just that much nicer. Room service was thorough and lovely and provided refills of not just tea but also shortbread snacks. Breakfast portions are large and very tasty, to the point where I overestimated just how much food would be coming in for me - but everyone was totally fine with me simply taking the extra things I'd taken from the continental buffet with me as snacks for the day, so that all turned out well. Paying a little extra to have breakfast included in your stay is absolutely worth it in my opinion, not just for those days when you fancy a Full English Breakfast. Just be aware that this is a historic building and consequently there's certain things like windows etc. that just work a bit differently to what you're probably used to. For me it didn't impact my comfort at all, temperature drops outside (even with some snow, in March of all times) did not make the room feel cold, nor did the heating make the room feel overly stuffy or too warm. The room was also quite large, especially by comparison to hotel rooms in cities like London, making it a good place to stay and relax on a rainy day or when you just feel like staying in for a bit. The bed also easily fits two people with a good amount of space for each, and I appreciated the pleasant firmness of the mattress. All told, this is and probably will remain my go-to place to stay in Ely. Rooms looking out over the main street through town are probably hit or miss for some people, but I enjoyed the view from mine, especially when it was snowing. The Cathedral and inner city are easily reachable on foot in about 2-3 minutes tops from the property, making it an excellent location to stay if you want to be in the heart of Ely.

Location in the centre was excellent for ELY, stayed in the courtyard on ground floor, which had recently been refurbished (which had been done lovely)which also had a massive shower!!! Very, very dog friendly and great staff!

Carpark is too small unfortunately, we were lucky and managed to get a space. Room was way too hot with very little ventilation, had to wedge the door open with a chair to try and get it to cool down. Not ideal as we were on the ground floor opening up onto the car park. Free standing fan is provided but made little difference. (Obviously in the winter this won’t be such a big issue!)

Loved the warm welcome. Chose one of the rear, newly refurbished, rooms to the rear, with easy access to the car parking area. Much nicer and easier to get to than the rooms in the main building. Decent sized bath and shower and a hood room. Enjoyed a delicious steak for dinner and then tumbled into bed.

Can be quite noisy as people sit and drink/chat outside the rear ground floor bedrooms until quite late. Parking is on a first-come-first-served basis. Curtains don't fully cover windows and there are no blinds, so very bright in the morning. One member of staff wasn't very polite (most were wonderful). The jug of milk at breakfast was dirty inside, so had to be replaced - dishwasher failure.

We liked that the staff made us feel welcome and took the time to ensure we had all we needed. They explained clearly about meal times and car parking on arrival and offered to help with our bags. Breakfast was good offering a wide range of choices including vegan options. We also had an evening meal which was very good. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel itself is ideally situated centrally and within easy reach on foot to numerous places of interest. Would definitely recommend the Lamb Hotel for a warm and comfortable stay.

It would have been good to be able to access wifi more easily, but, apart from that, all was good for us. Thank you.

Lovely staff - nothing too much trouble. Ace breakfast. Comfortable room. What more could a man ask for !

I have a real fear of heights. When confronted with the stairs up to the second floor my heart sank and each time I came down them, I had to come down on my bottom, using my hands as well as my feet . The staff very kindly went upstairs to get my luggage when I was leaving, as I would have been afraid of it pulling me down the stairs if I had tried carrying it. I realise I am probably being feeble, but I thought I would mention it. I do of course realise that there is not much that you can do about this in what is probably a listed building. And I am very grateful to the staff for taking my fears seriously.

We booked a room here in January 2023, we must have had an upgrade as the room was more of a suit with a wonderfully large and comfortable bed. My partner is over 6 foot and always has trouble with small beds so we would definitely book this room or an equal size again, we had I think a superior double and it was wonderful, I would highly recommend it for the bed alone. Yes the hotel has a rather dated look room and corridor wise and yes the rooms a little chilly although there was a fan heater for our use in the room but that's upstairs, the bar and restaurant areas are modern bright and charming. We ate in the restaurant both evenings of our stay, the food is very reasonably priced well presented and good quality. We booked bed and breakfast that also was well presented with plenty of choice. The staff are attentive and welcoming so we have booked to go back in april for my partners birthday and looking forward to going back.

The coffee served at breakfast as it was filtered coffee served at the table, maybe a coffee machine could be installed on the breakfast counter ?

The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the ambience was much enhanced by a convention of Father Christmasses (in disguise). Location is great, right next to the cathedral. Room very comfortable. I got into a real tangle over my Wifi (my inexperience) but they sorted me out.

This is very much an upmarket pub-turned-hotel. Nothing wrong with that, but I would have appreciated somewhere quiet to sit that wasn't my room or the bar. But there isn't really the room, and the pluses far outweighed this!

The property had a very premium, comfortable, traditional atmosphere. The restaurant and bar area had a nice ambiance, which the staff complemented with their happy faces and their very good level of service.

Our room was always hot, despite the heating being off and window wide open… As a heating engineer I couldn’t understand how, with no solar heat gain, no heat sources that the room would be very warm all the time, despite leaving the window fully open all day. This was a minor thing, I don’t knock them down, it was perhaps to most people’s liking.
