Manor Inn Galmpton

Bright and spacious room, comfortable beds, clean crisp bedlinen. Pleased to be able to access the accommodation from the car park without going through the pub. Despite a party going on downstairs it did not disturb us. Breakfast was tasty and freshly prepared with a wide range of items on the "full English".

Some areas of the bar (carpet and access to upstairs) were worn and tatty, which wasn't a great first impression. The shower was not very powerful but it was clean and warm.

Great staff. Welcoming, friendly and helpful. Very dog friendly. Good food service. Huge breakfast. Very relaxing atmosphere. Overall, it's the staff that make this place. They more than outweigh any criticisms.

The split level room with steep steps down to the bathroom were a challenge for someone of my age but adequately provided with hand rails. The dining area is badly in need of renovation with a musty smell and visible damp mould. Less noticeable when crowded though.

Fantastic breakfast with a lovely lady serving who was very friendly. Huge breakfast very well cooked available but large amount of toast and cereal available if preferred. Very large bedroom and bathroom.

Part of my steak tasted mildly of disinfectant which may have been on the plate or the steak itself. I did tell the waitress although stressed this was not a complaint but needed to let her know in case others were affected and she did promise to let the kitchen know but the steak wasn't replaced so I only manage to eat half of it and quite a bit ended up in the napkin. Booking.com said the restaurant provided local seafood which was slightly misleading as there was none except fish and chips and I had taken it to mean that they majored on fish dishes when it was just hearty pub grub, A friend ate with me and her ribs and wings were lovely and the portion was huge so I just lucked out.

The breakfast was excellent we have met the lady who serves it on previous stays and she very pleasant and good at her job. The food in the restaurant was very good and the staff very efficient. We have stayed there before and the location is ideal for our reason to visit the area.

We were a little concerned about some loose decking outside the access to the car park which is the fire exit, I expect it maybe work in progress but needs looking at.

Decking was a bit slippery out the back - access for the dog was good at the rear to the rooms but in the morning we had to get someone to let us in down below, but not a problem, more choice on the deserts but otherwise good.

Staff were really helpful and the room was light and airy. Our visit coincided with a pub quiz which was good fun. The food was good with some vegan/vegetarian choices.

Not a criticism but the lights in the bathroom were on a sensor (we think) as there was no light switch which meant we couldn’t switch them off.

We had an excellent, very spacious room. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was great. The breakfast was delicious and the staff very friendly. Highly recommended for this area.

There were some loose decking planks by the rear entrance which were a little unsafe for my pregnant fiancée but otherwise superb.

Manor Inn ,I don’t normally give reviews but I feel on this occasion I’d like to share how my visit went and from day one to leaving it was exceptionally high standard service and attentiveness ,nothing was too much Trouble and the safety standards and social distance was very well enforced ,I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the manor inn when again looking to stay in Devon ,oh and the breakfast cannot be faulted whatsoever,excellent start to the day ,but many thanks again to the staff of Manor Inn

Extremely friendly staff. Very accommodating in having a residents dining room for their sole use. Comfortable bed. Excellent location for places we wanted to visit. Off road parking. Nice wine from the bar, and decent coffee too. Compliant with Covid safety regulations.

Although our bedroom and bathroom appeared to be freshly decorated and clean , the remainder of the pub/hotel let itself down, in that it looked very tired and shabby. The glass shower screen over the bath didn’t have a seal so after a shower the bathroom floor was awash with water.

Very friendly staff, great location and breakfast was great. They accommodate dogs which is what we needed. He even had is own sausage for breakfast! Lovely walks in all directions to either the country side or to the beach/harbour. Lots of places to eat once you make it down there.

Room was a little dated but that's okay I guess. Bit strange that there was no soap in the room considering the constant need to keep hands clean these days. Can't blame Covid for everything as I get soap in the loo at a restaurant. Unfortunately it was far too expensive for our liking. We have had a lot more for a lot less in the past. Begrudged paying that amount on leaving.
