The Birdham At Bembridge

All the staff were a credit to the business and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. The food (both breakfast and evening meal) was cooked to order and I cannot fault the quality or quantity. The 2nd floor room was spacious with a separate bathroom area and access to the free WIFI was easy with a good reception in the bedroom. Whilst the room was at the front of the hotel there was no problems with traffic noise or people walking past. Parking was easy and the hotel is a good place to start to explore the island.

Preference would have been for a room with a shower rather than shower over the bath. I understand the owners are gradually updating the rooms but not sure whether changing over the baths would be something they would consider (not sure how many people prefer a bath rather than a shower bearing in mind the need to reduce the amount of water used).

Well, I can give a 9.5 out of 10. This says everything. :) The staff was kind and helpful. The room was clean and friendly. The bed was comfortable. Only the tv destroys the whole picture. It was tiny and not suited to the room. The dinner was delicious (you have to try the duck), but the portion is a bit small. However, the breakfast was perfect.

When we arrived we did not find the reception, and when we found the reception, nobody was there, and we needed to find somebody. (we arrived at dinner time and they were busy) The dinner was fantastic and delicious. Unfortunately was not enough. Some windows were single-glazed/old. I think a small oil radiator could have been in the room. (we had central heating during the night, but the evening was cold)

Staff were very helpful . I would not consider the room we had to be a 'superior' king-size room, (we had enough room to walk around the outside of our bed.) However, it is a beautiful old building and the hotel rooms seem to be in the process of refurbishment. Our room was above the bar area, but it did not affect our sleep. Good tea/coffee making facilities with added biscuits & sweets. Breakfast was very nice - with a good range of choice on the menu. The location was ideal for us. Bembridge is a pretty little village.

There was a very strong smell of paint in the upper floor room, where the room opposite was being upgraded. We were moved very quickly with no fuss made when we pointed this out. The room we were moved to was not of the same standard, and initially, we had a problem with the heating, which was quickly sorted. I have recently had a hip replacement, so climbing into a high bath to shower was not ideal. That said, the shower was lovely, the water hot, and the towels were a great size and comfort.

Everything about our stay was excellent from check in to check out. We enjoyed sitting and having a drink in the bar before going out for an evening meal. The little touches in the room were lovely. The staff were friendly and approachable. Breakfast was lovely before going out for the day. The location allowed for us to walk out for an evening meal into the center of the village and then for a morning walk before checking out.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike about the hotel and our stay.

Birdham was a great location, room was comfortable, a good size and had a lovely bath and shower. We had dinner downstairs which was booked for us. Staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast had a very varied menu a mixture of continental and cooked items.

When the place was busy service was slow due to amount of staff and staff having to cover bar as well as checking in's. Parking was a bit restricted on a busy Saturday night. Luckily we left our car there and walked to other restaurants or when you needed to go out.

Our room was very spacious 2 single beds and a double with plenty of room to move around, the ensuite had a separate shower and bath. The beds were very comfortable and the decor was nicely matched, the room was very clean on arrival and during our stay. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional at all times. The breakfast was excellent quality and choice, the dinner again was of excellent quality and choice. Having an iron & board was a god send, tea/coffee well stocked at all times along with toiletries.

We were not unhappy at all but a couple of suggestions are: some more literature regarding places to visit and the local community. There were books to borrow but maybe some boardgames for the wet weather (this is England).

The staff were so helpful and friendly. We were shown to our room which was well decorated, clean and larger than expected. The tea/coffee facilities were wide ranging and high quality. The bathroom was filled with lovely products and we had loads of towels. The room also had a fan which was fantastic for keeping us cool. The room was right at the top of the building and turned out to be a family suite. It was so quiet all night. The breakfast and food options throughout the day were great, the bar and restaurant are really lovely. The food itself was delicious, breakfast was customisable - so lovely! There was also plenty of parking.

Absolutely nothing, couldn’t point out a single flaw.

All the staff in both the hotel and restaurant were so friendly and helpful. We were there for my sisters 30th birthday so I emailed ahead mentioning it in case they could do something nice in the room and they put a bunch of flowers in the room with the towels made up into swans. It was a really lovely special touch. The hotel was clean and comfortable, the meal at the restaurant was lovely and breakfast great in the morning too. It really was a great stay. Thank you 😊

Nice sized room, clean and comfortable. Staff all tried to be helpful, nice evening meals.

Breakfast was hit and miss, First morning I commented how good the bacon tasted, second morning it was dry and tasteless. Wrong dishes were served to at least 3 tables.

The room wasn't large, which was fine, but it would have been good to have some shelving or another unit to put the tea/coffee etc. on, to free up the dressing table. The bedroom could also have done with a small chair rather than the stool The large bathroom could have easily had a storage unit there for toiletries etc - there was nowhere to put our things
