A glorious English country pub about an hour away from Heathrow, and very close to Jane Austen’s house. The whole place is thoroughly lovely. You expect Mr Darcy to ride into the pub yard any minute. it suited us completely. The nearby walks are really good. Also, I can’t remember a place where Lisa and I were so warmly welcomed by the locals.

I wouldn’t say that I didn’t like anything about this place but visitors should know that you need a car, and that travelling on narrow English country roads is not for the faint hearted. They don’t serve breakfast, which is easily enough obtained in nearby Alton, two miles away. The phone coverage is awful, and the internet is only accessible from the bar which is open for limited hours, and then inhabited by raucous and extremely friendly locals. Don’t let any of that keep you away. This place is a treasure.

The pub was very friendly with good service. The menu was extensive and the food great. The room was clean and comfortable.

We didn't see any staff except in the pub which was only open at certain times of the day. Luckily we didn't need any assistance. No breakfast was available either in the pub or nearby unless you pre-ordered. I don't think this was made clear when we booked. The pub is quite remote with nothing except fields nearby within walking distance.

I had a fish and chip supper in the pub. london pride on tap. was really super. staff very friendly and attentive and made myself and dog joey very welcome and at home.

although the pub was very characterful..my room was a little bland with a mish mash of furnishings. there was no wardrobe...no drawers...no hooks...infact nowhere to put clothes.

Everything. The place has a wonderful family feel and we felt so welcome. We brought our two miniature schnauzers and they were also welcomed with open arms. Communication was excellent prior and during the stay, and the food is an absolute hidden gem here, superb.

We liked the warm welcome and care and attention by our hosts. They have pride in their inn and pub, and it shows. The food and atmosphere were spot on. Highly recommended.

It is out of the way, ideal for travellers with a car. It is not easily accessible by foot, but there is bus service.

Room was exactly as expected, got a table for dinner without pre booking, very helpful staff. This is a lovely pub and good value for monry. Easy parking despite the pub being pretty busy on a Saturday night, tick that box !!

Nothing really

Good sized room with comfortable bed and good bathroom. Clean and quiet, easy access, free parking on site.

Check in wasn't smooth (someone else had taken our room initially) although issues were rectified. TV wasn't working and no WiFi, although the landlady was very accomodating

Really good room, the pub was excellent especially the food, staff really helpful, one of the best value stays I have had!
