Danubia Gate

Clean and nice hotel. Breakfast was good and satisfactory with plenty choices. Room (deluxe double) and bathroom size was large. Facilities in the room were satisfactory. The hotel is about 250 meters away from Old Town and 250 meters from bus station Nivy. We arrived to Bratislava by bus and walked to the hotel. On departure, the hotel called a taxi for us (4.5 euro). I would consider the location of the hotel as very good (though it is not in the Old City).

AC was not working in our room. We complained to the reception and the person on duty said he resolved the issue (by specifying a new set point using the control program on PC). But AC did not work that night (during hot days in July). There was a small fan in the room and that made us suspect that AC system had some problems known by the management.

The hospitality at Danubia Gate was excellent. At the time of checking-in, once the receptionist realised that it was my birthday, he offered me a free room upgrade along with a bottle of great Slovakian wine! What an awesome birthday gift :-) The hotel is neat and clean, and the rooms are spacious. Places of interest in historic old Bratislava can be easily reached on foot. The AS Mlynske Nivy bus station, with the Nivy Mall, is a five minute walk away. There are several dining options within walking distance from the hotel.

The breakfast was somewhat basic. It would help to bring in some more variety and options.

- Very good location, 5 - 10 min walking distance from the old city center - The staff is very nice and helpful - Good breakfast - Car parking (15 eur/ day) at the hotel parking lot (keep in mind that if making reservations directly (not via booking.com) the parking is free) - Comfortable rooms (and beds)

- Sound insulation could be better: you can hear people going to elevator, closing their room doors. Also the room is connected to other room (there are doors between two rooms), of course they are locked, but you can hear your neighbors talking, watching TV, etc. The street is noisy, but if your room is on the higher floor, the noise is not so bad - They ask you to write your credit card info on some paper in case you use mini bar, this is just strange... - Hotel is a bit outdated

Staff were superb, check in easy. Always willing to help and offer advice. We decided to go to Vienna for the day and the travel tips and advice they gave were first rate. Hotel is fairly small in a quiet area but literally a minutes walk into the Old town.Mainly occupied by businessmen and couples,though size of room we had (deluxe with hydrotherapy Bath) was huge and could take a family easily. If you can get a decent price for an early booking,excellent value for money.

Avoid the airport taxis trying to rip you off. Prebook, much cheaper.Or alternatively bus into town from airport takes 30 min.

We really enjoyed our stay at Danubia Gate. Although hotel isn't big, it has very cozy atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant where breakfasts take place is small as well, but the food choice was broad and meal was delicious. The room (located on the 6th floor) was clean and warm. The bed was soft, we've even got an orthopedic pillows (that's the thing that becomes extremely important when your neck doesn't want to be young and fun anymore). Hotel is located near both to the central bus station (Mlynske nivy) and to the old town. There are several good restaurants nearby. I would definitely recommend Danubia Gate and will certainly stay there during next Bratislava visit.

The location was perfect - just 2 mins walk to the old town. 10 mins in other direction to bus station. Hotel was fantastic - and our Executive room was amazing - especially as it had the balcony which got the sun in the afternoon. The hotel was smaller than i expected. The buffet breakfast had a great selection of hot & cold food which was regularly replenished. Staff offered you tea/coffee as soon as you arrived at breakfast - and nothing was too much trouble. Lidl was only 1 min walk so was really handy to buy drinks & snacks for room.

The toiletries did not include hair conditioner - only shampoo and shower gel - so i had to go and buy conditioner but that's my only gripe.

Rooms were very clean, there was air conditioning which was very convenient as the days were pretty hot. Rooms are cleaned every day and staff is friendly and helpful (we needed to iron our clothes quickly and receptionist provided clothing iron and ironing board very efficiently). Hotel is in a very good place in the city and all of the city attractions and bars are nearby, only a few minutes walking. Overall we had very good experience and Slovak wine that they offer is very good, do not hesitate to try it!

Car parking is small and could be a little bit cramped, also prepare to spend a little money if you want to travel by car (one night in a hotel car parking costs 15 euros, so it could be a bit costly to leave your car there for a few days).

Breakfast was very good, wild range of choices. Hotel is close to the city center.

When we were leaving left our stuff at the hotel and went back to pickt them up before our train departured. The staff at the reception was really rude not. He was supposed to be kind but was not at all. We left our luggages there hoping they are safe. When we got back he did not know which key is the right one for the cabinet. Instead of calm us down (we wanted to catch our train) he was so mean. Was so disappointing because when we checked in and later on whoever was at the reception was nice and kind.

Breakfast, which was included in the price, was great as there was plenty of selection and the two guys were asking if you wanted tea or coffee immediately and it was served promptly. The reception staff were equally helpful in explaining the costing and location of the room, and recommending things to do nearby and places to go eat. Also, the cleaning staff were so efficient that when I went for breakfast, towels, bins, bedsheets were magically replaced 20 mins later. The location is fantastic, only a 5-10 minutes walk to the main attractions within the city centre. As a foreigner to the country, the staff speak good English too.

Not much could have been better. It was an excellent stay. The size of the room was not huge, but it was value for money and it was a single person room.

We loved the whole stay in Bratislava. The hotel was really nice - room with everything we needed, warm enough, comfy beds, hot shower, tick, tick, tick. I hope the next time I come back they have the same shower gel as I really liked the smell , I don't remember the last time we had dedicated speakers for the music in the room :) We always found something new in the breakfast selection - nice change during 4 night stay. Staff was very helpful.

Pity that the bar (next to the reception) was not open in the evening hours - I guess that was just a consequence from the pandemic times..
