The Hotel Britomart

The photos make the rooms seem darker than they really are, particularly those facing the outside. If you prefer more natural light, select the outside (versus lane) facing rooms. The rooms are a bit small, but very well designed, appointed, easy to use, and luxurious for the price. Location is excellent. The seafood restaurant downstairs, kingi, has a great vibe, food, and drinks, as does cafe hanoi, which is next door, but not affiliated with the hotel. We requested adjoining rooms, and got two at the end of the hall with a central door, so felt like a suite (could put our luggage and other items in the shared vestibule). The staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and polite, including reception, concierge, and housekeeping. Service is excellent.

Location is perfect. View was lovely. Staff were excellent. Rooms were very comfortable. Feels fresh and new. You really feel like you're at the centre of an energetic part of town.

Some of the design and technology features are a bit too tricky: eg complicated lighting, a fridge behind 3 doors, noise between bathroom & bedroom, heels on timer timber floors in room above.

This is a beautiful place. Very modern, well-staffed, clean. The location is convenient for walking to the harbor and many restaurants in the area. The room was comfortable, especially the bed, and tea/coffee was provided. The room was cleaned daily, which is much appreciated.

One tiny complaint is that the bathroom set up is a little strange. The shower only has a small partition from the rest of the bathroom. Meaning that when you shower, the entire bathroom floor gets wet. There’s one large, rather heavy, sliding door that divides the shower/toilet/sink area from the rest of the room, meaning when someone is using the toilet, no one can use the sink area (not good for privacy).

Rating the hotel. Well. Some things about the room are fabulous. The shower and the bed get 10/10. The black out blinds work almost too well. However in pursuit of minimalism some annoyances creep in. Namely the absence of a bathroom/toilet door. Fine by yourself. But as a couple you would have no option but to listen to the others ablutions. The shower does not drain well. Causes water around the toilet. The controls for lights/ac/blinds are on a touchpad by the door and no where else. Meaning you have to get up/go back if you wish to adjust. Overall 8.5/10.

Couldn’t find the mini bar fridge. No door on the bathroom

Staff were amazing, they took care of us with a late check in and accommodated our requests. The lady at the front desk on the night was very helpful with our questions. Room was spacious and the control panel for the room was very easy to use. The sun blinds for the room work very well.

The slippers were nice but had no grip and the floor was very smooth and felt great on the feet, however that combination does make it a slip hazard if you aren't careful. The minimalistic design was very nice to look at but also meant you had to take some time to figure out where everything is and what all the buttons do.

I would like to give special mention to Baaj, the concierge. He was very welcoming and gave us appropriate advice on what to see and where to go. We did not get the breakfast but ate a la carte at the restaurant Kingi located in the Hotel. The Vietnamese restaurant was also great and had excellent service, even better than we had expected based on our earlier experiences in New Zealand. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.

The entrance is a little hard to find and parking is an issue. We used the valet so it was not much of an issue.

My husband and I loved the hotel, from the architecture of the building to the design of the lobby and rooms. Every detail was thoughtfully chosen. The location was exceptional. It was easy to walk to most attractions.

The staff members we interacted with were pleasant, but could have been warmer and more welcoming. I was surprised that we were charged to check in early, especially since it was our honeymoon and other hotels were more generous with amenities to celebrate.

What a lovely place to land for a first night after loooong intercontinental flights from Europe. Shower fantastic, bed super comfortable. The staff at reception was friendly and welcoming. Location was perfect for us as a base to explore Auckland for a day. The Britomart area is modern and has some interesting shops and restaurants. For breakfast I recommend Ortolana just across the street. The design of the room was nice with some unique touches in the form of ceramics, books etc. I also loved the cinnamon scented soaps and hair products!

Our room (the Laneway) had only a tiny window situated at an angle that made it impossible to see outside. Could feel a little claustrophobic or very cozy depending on how you’re inclined. The lighting plan in the room was nice though. I don’t think there is something like a gym in the hotel, which would have been nice.

- Location in the center of the city near to shopping center and bus station. Also, it is a quiet neighborhood. - the receptionist are very friendly and helpful. They helped us to book bus for our trip to Rotoura. Moreover, they gave us recommendations what to do in the city. - the room was interconnected and convenient for 3 people to stay in. - fitness center is really great. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel

- if they offered breakfast within the room booking.

Chic, clean, smart, close to every thing including eateries. The place to be seen!

The overly complicated lighting, heating and blind control system! The room seemed forever dark as we couldn't get the lights in the bathroom to come on and we never did find out how to switch on the coffee machine. The instruction given when arriving was too quick and incomplete. Staff uniforms need to change - can see what the aim was - hip - but staff actually all look scruffy as the uniforms are not tailored.
