FERNZ Motel & Apartments Birkenhead

The staff were fantastic. Very kind and helpful, great communication and thoughtful people. Curly hair diffuser in the bathroom. Fluffy blanket on the bed was a homely, comfortable touch. Wonderful bathroom. Kitchen had a microwave, hob, oven, fridge,and freezer (and when we needed a kitchen item that wasn't there the staff found something for us) Good outdoor space with seating. Very spacious and comfortable. TV had Netflix and living room had a lamp which made it comfortable and homely too.

There was nothing I didn't like. We were meant to have a car so the location would have been okay but due to unforeseen circumstances we had to explore Auckland as pedestrians which made being the other side of the bridge a bit more challenging.

The location was great for restaurants and cafe shops and a new ice cream shop opening next door and easy bus service to the city or Albany shopping centre Views from the flat over the bay to the city excellent security and quietness of the area was excellent

They were two things. that I thought could improve the lounge/kitchen are. a three- seater settee so you can stretch out rather than use the bed, I think that LED strip lights should be fitted under the kitchen overhead cupboards. so that you don't have to put the overhead lights on when making coffee or using the kitchen. I am not sure how hot and humid the summer period is but I found it strange that there was no air-conditioning

The apartment had a spectacular view. The bedrooms were very roomy and having two bathrooms when there were three women was fantastic. The apartment was very clean and was serviced daily with new towels. It was only a ten minute drive to the motorway and over the harbour bridge to the city. The office staff were so helpful and kind and went out of their way to help out. I can not recommend Fernz Birkenhead highly enough! I will definitely be staying there on my next visit to NZ and will be recommending it to any friends or family heading to Auckland. Thank you for a wonderful 10 day stay.

My partner and I stayed here for 1 night. Excellent service from staff. Check in and check out easy. Able to pay by debit card before 5pm. Parking space included, safe and secure. Very spacious apartment. Exceptionally clean. It had all the amenities needed for our short stay incl. washing machine, dryer, fridge and freezer, oven and stove top, dining table. Wifi available. Balcony overlooking garden was nice although we didn’t really use it. Bed very large and comfortable. We ordered takeaway from Mulan down the road for dinner and it was only a 1-2minute walk to pick up our order. Shops and restaurants all nearby including supermarket and library. I will definitely be back here again!! Thank you.

The rooms were very nice - modern, clean, spacious and had everything our family of four needed! The balcony and outlook were great. It was quiet and in a beautiful location - the suburb of Birkenhead is really pretty - with views to the city and a great selection of shops and restaurants. The shops and everything you need is within walking distance, including a supermarket. It's about 20 mins drive and $20 via Uber to get into Auckland City which we found the most convenient way to get around - although we also caught the ferry home from Aukland one day which was a great trip on the harbour but a bit of an uphill walk to get to the apartment.

The apartment didn't have aircon and it was quite muggy while we were there. There was a good breeze through the apartment with the windows and doors open though.

Clean and tidy.

Not having visited Auckland before, I was a bit unsure about choosing a hotel in Birkenhead, a suburb across the harbor from the central business district. Birkenhead was a great base, with many restaurants and interesting stores. Buses into downtown were frequent and fast. The ferry to/from Birkenhead wharf was sort of infrequent, but we did take it one day and it was a nice ride. It is about a mile or a little more from the hotel - we walked, but there is a bus that goes back to the Highbury shopping area, near the hotel. I drove and the parking situation at the hotel was great (free and covered). The apartment was large, clean, with new appliances and a nice balcony. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked great. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, a great choice.

The wifi in our room was horrible. The connection constantly dropped and there was no signal at all on the balcony. They need to call in some professionals and upgrade their system.

Well appointed suite with kitchen, laundry room, and a balcony. We deliberately chose to stay away from the city center knowing we could take the ferry into Auckland which we did without much hassle, however I would likely stay in the city center for a future stay. The vicinity of the hotel features multiple shops - Big shoutout for Wild Wheat were I enjoyed the most delicious lamb pie I have ever savored!

There was no misrepresentation about the location of the hotel but reinstating that if your main destination is Auckland, consider staying closer to the city center.

We had a two bedroom apartment it was a good size for family of 3... Nice clean room... Good shower... Comfortable beds... Good having Dishwasher, washing machine and dryer... Nice wee out door area to have a wine or beer in the evening!! Just a nice comfortable room! Thanks :)

We had 11 nights stay, I did feel that the room service could of been a wee bit better. There was 2 days where we come back to our room not being locked again after room service done!! Had to ask for a few things eg toilet paper, washing power etc.... We feel that we done our bit with keeping room tidy and taking rubbish down to wheelie bin when walking past!

The location is excellent - very close to shops with many restaurants. Easy access to anywhere on the North Shore and close to the bridge for the city. Very quiet and good security, including locked parking under the building. All facilities are near new, and include the means to cook a simple meal if required. Plenty of tv channels. Reception is very friendly and helpful. A short distance to Birkenhead Point and other scenic parks on the edge of the harbour.

Might be time for some steam cleaning of the carpet and furniture. A bit of a sweaty body odor starting to build where people have been sitting. Not serious, and certainly not to discourage anyone given the many positive features.
