Location is the best deal you could have in Leiden. Calm, yet lively area. Next to the city market on Saturdays. In front of the canal and a green park. Cleanliness is top notch, both in the room and in other shared areas of the facility Personnel was kind and informative The kitchen and bathroom in the spatious room were amazing.

The only thing that we found missing and that could really elevate the expericence is a little bit more care when it comes to the courtesy set: An additional towel would be ideal, next to the one for the body and the the small one for the face. Slippers would also be very nice to have, and expectable from a stay in a suite. Other thing is that, probably due to the age of the building, it was not uncommon to hear noises from above rooms or from the corridor during the evening/night. To be fair, ear plugs are provided by the Hotel as part of the courtesy set.

The room was absolutely fantastic. I felt like a princess having a room at the top of a canal house like that with my own set of stairs. The room was huge and cozy at the same time, and had all the modern amenities, even a double vanity. Except an elevator!

The one thing that would have been helpful was 24 hr reception and an earlier breakfast time. I had to be at work from 9am-6pm every day and the breakfast started at 8:45 so I wasn’t able to partake any of the days I was there. And the staff was gone every day at 6, so really I never saw them except the day I left work early. Because of my early flight no one was there when I checked out either.

The room was beautifully appointed, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful and the location perfect.

I realize that this is a very old building but we have had the experience of being in other's where there was a small but efficient elevator. Lugging the suitcases up and down the stairs was very awkward. On our arrival there was someone to help us but not so when we left. Also for those with mobility issues... our room would have been inaccessible.

Room was marvelous: large, lots of storage space, very comfortable bed, nice bathroom and amenities. The hotel is perfectly located to visit the historical center of Leiden. Although largely self-service, we were able through emails and in person communication to deal with any issues prior to arrival and during our stay. The hotel is highly rated on Booking. It deserves its high ratings and more. Could not have been happier with our choice.

Footsteps can be heard from the upper level. Some street noise evident. No elevator and steep steps,difficult when carrying luggage to the upper levels.

The level of hospitality here is extremely high! Greeted with a warm welcome we continued to enter our lovely room with all the necessary amenities inside. Having a small coffee machine is great for all coffee lovers and but the bathroom layout and design is my favorite! The breakfast is super cute and quite fulfilling. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and they don’t shy from making a personal connection. I totally recommend this place and I’ll definitely visit again as it’s location is just perfect.

It’s hard to find what they can improve on!

We spend 3 nights in Steenhof Suites. Hotel is located in very center of the city, close to everything one want to see and explore. It is historic building with a lot of charm. Very friendly stuff. Large and very comfortable room. Wonderful breakfast.

Because this is historic building there is no elevator and spiral staircase was rather challenging. But this is a small price to pay to sleep in such a historic atmosphere.

Rooms are spacious and very clean. Loved the high ceilings. Bathroom and shower is superb. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone wanting to spend a few days in the beautiful little town of Leiden. The hotel, well it felt more like home away from home, is located only a few meters from the main street, bus stop and many stores. Restaurants and Cafés are only minutes away. We loved walking through the quite streets. Thank you to the host family, you've got a gem!

We didn't stay there long enough, but at least there will be a next time

The staff is very friendly and the facility is well maintained. The room is spacious and very comfortable. It is located in the center of the city. Very easy walk to nearby attractions, market, restaurants, etc. There is a public paid parking like 2 minutes walk away and the price is reasonable (much less than in Amsterdam). Very convenient.

There is no elevator and the stairs are a bit steep and narrow. It is managable, just a little inconvenient with luggage.

We had a very large room, on the first floor, overlooking the canal. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. Breakfast was good. The location of the hotel is excellent for walking around Leiden, to museums, shops, restaurants etc. If you come by car, the best place to park is the Garenmarkt parking garage, it is underground and very safe, and it was just a few minutes' walk. We stayed here for our visit to Keukenhof gardens but Leiden is a destination in its own right

It wasn't a problem for us but being a historic building there are some steep stairs and no lift. Some of the floorboards were a little uneven but again I think that is due to historic nature of the house,
