Hotel San Donato - Bologna centro

The hotel is in a fantastic central location - within easy walking distance to the Towers. On a small piazza with cafés and bars yet very quiet. Steps away from the trendy and lively 'ghetto' district - so a vast array of places to eat and drink. Lovely comfortable quiet room. Lovely terraces.

Breakfast at 15€ pp is a bit steep when there are so many local cafés to choose from - however, we did not go to look at the offerings so they could be good value for money if that is what you prefer. No bar service for the lovely terraces - so a strictly BYO!!!! No table and chairs on our balcony which would have been nice to relax on. Personally like tea and coffee in the room.....

Best location ever.....right in the center of Bologna's old town, close to restaurants, pharmacies, gelateria(s)(!), and tourist sites. Elevator was a blessing, bell service great, very friendly front desk (especially Martina). Good A/C. We didn't do breakfasts there, so can't comment. Beds very good, bathroom really good, good wi-fi. Met our expectations completely. Note: if you're driving to the hotel, be sure to ask for specific driving instructions as the city is so old, many streets are narrow and therefore one-way.

We liked it ALL!

The location was exceptional, right in the centre of the city and central to all the art galleries, museums and major churches. Plenty of food places nearby.

When I booked the room through Booking.com, the picture I was shown and the room I chose had a double bed. When I arrived at the venue, I was in a single/student room. Turns out when I checked the booking after, the picture was a single bed, but that wasn't what I clicked on in the website. Aside from that the room was modern and new and good quality for what it was. The single bed mattress had a bit of a slope to it. Even though I am a single travelling adult, I still prefer to have a double or queen sized bed.

it’s a very good hotel in the heart of Bologna which I booked accidentally because I was physically kicked out from other place I booked on Booking.com and they didn’t do nothing to help me. So I must to find a new place to stay and it was a pleasant surprise that I booked such a wonderful hotel and checked-in immediate. I highly recommend you to stay in the Hotel San Donato, the stuff is very nice and friendly, the room isn’t big but has it all, the AC works perfect, also the balcony is nice but could be better if you put there a table and chairs. the rooftop is wooow, amazing panoramic view!

Hotel San Donato is in an excellent central location 150 meters from the Due Torri and with easy access on foot to all the city centre highlights of Bologna. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and we could not fault the cleanliness and comfort of our room, despite it being in an older wing of the hotel. We would recommend that you dump your luggage and make lots of forays out and about, popping back to put your feet up from time to time, in your room or on either of the two roof terraces, one with panoramic rooftop views and the other a more charming balcony perched over the streetscene and lively cafe below.

There was no bar during our stay, but on the plus side, we were able to bring in our own wine and drinks and enjoy them in the public spaces of the hotel ( which obviously saved money).

Very friendly staff. Some of the most friendliest in Italy! Strategically located by the tower and main city center, as well as other attractions of the city. Super comfy and clean. Great to have the air conditioning rapidly and fully functioning on hot Summer days. Excellent pricing. I got it a slight discount and this was after searching through Airbnb also! I can't recommend to others enough of this accommodation!

Lack of a window to the main room. But that was clearly stated in my purchase. I could have paid more for the other rooms that had a window and/or terrace, but I had a budget in mind for a couple of nights in Bologna. No fault to them!

Great location in the university sector. Hotel is clean, staff were helpful and the room was nice and clean. We had a short stay of 1 night only as we were travelling to Florence and the hotel was ideal for our purposes. We arrived late and there was a nice pasta place open up the street where we got a nice dinner. We had a short walk the next day to the train station.

Beds could have been more comfortable and it would have been nice to get a drink at the bar but it was closed at 11 pm on a Friday night.

Room was big and clean. The bed... a dream! Uliana from desk was a very helpful person, very profesional. Thank you again We have been 4 person's and had 2 bedrooms with double beds. The heating system is very good. In 5 minutes is warm already. The room has a fridge, hair dryer, soap, shampoo . The table was very welcome. Breakfast is fine for 12 euro. The hygiene rules are everywhere in the kitchen and breakfast room. We will come back.

During the breakfast the cleaning lady come and do the cleaning. We jump in the situation, we take what we need and go out. Wifi is not good. Coming and disappear and again coming and disapear.

Location was prime for being in the city center. The hotel was great for our needs as a couple. We think one of the best things this place had to offer was the outside chill space on the roof, accessed by the 3rd floor. We had a great time hanging out up there on a beautiful day all alone with great views. Overall, I would recommend this place all day long

We enjoyed the stay. The cleaning people did a great job and were super friendly. But one of the days they must have thrown out my contact lens case lids because I do not have them but still had the other non-lid part which is weird. Luckily I have a backup but that was the only somewhat negative thing, but I didn’t bring that up to the lobby employees because it’s not a big deal.

Location in Bologna was wonderful, beautiful building. The room was comfortable, plenty of hot water. Staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and happy.

Below my room the builders were in and had a conveyor belt taking out the rubble which then went down a shute to ground level and was very noisy. This noise did stop but not until about 5.30pm.
