Hotel Arde Köln Zentrum

Location was great, breakfast was varied - a good start to the day. Room was tired but we expected this after reading some of the reviews, but was clean with a very comfortable bed, although pillows could be better. Tomas who met us in reception on Friday night when we arrived was very helpful and informative, lovely member of staff, as were all the breakfast staff.

I'm sorry to have to say, but we encountered 2 or 3 other reception staff who were rude and dismissive and really made us feel like they couldn't be bothered with us. On another note, it would be nice to have the facility to get a hot drink downstairs in the breakfast room during the day after coming in from the cold.

It is in an excellent location. Approximately 10 minutes from the central station and literally 1-2 minutes from the city center. I did not have to use public transportation to travel around the city and enjoyed every moment! Also, the staff was very friendly and helpful and made me feel safe and welcome. It is a great deal for the price and the location!

It may seem a little bit older, however, it really did not affect the quality of my stay. Also it would be nice to change the mattress as it felt a bit uncomfortable.

Very central location, walking distance from the Cathedral and old town. Loads of shops nearby for every need. Good breakfast with lots of choices

Room was a bit small with bed placed by the window (needed to climb on bed to open/close it). The tables and seats for breakfast seem a bit too low in the area by the back entrance.

Excellent service provided by all staff! Very friendly and dedicated staff that look after your basic needs during the stay. Hotel is small but clean & well maintained. Rooms are spilt into 2 sides I.e one side with lift & the other side without lift. Room has TV. Hotel is about 1 min walk from the shopping streets & located on a quiet street. It’s about 20 mins away from Koln Hbf when you walk with your luggage. Excellent location as you can get any shopping u need within easy reach e.g. supermarket, malls, pharmacies, cafes, C&A, H&M, Espirit, boutiques, Xmas markets etc Breakfast selection is awesome and well replenished as staff keeps a constant check on quantity available.

The hotel front desk is not 24h, so the lift couldn’t be use when the front desk has no one. Good to check in early in case you need help from staff, e.g hair dryer is upon request, no electric kettle but you can request a thermos flask & no cup provided Housekeeping is about 10am so you need to leave the room early otherwise room will not be cleaned as housekeeping staff goes off when his work hours is over.

We were only staying 1 night and the room fitted our needs. Comfy bed, reasonable shower, plenty of towels/shampoo. A reasonable range of continental items for breakfast and plenty of drink choices. Helpful staff both at reception and during breakfast. Five minfutes walk to city centre, 2 minutes to plenty o shops.

The furniture in the rooms was quite dated but this may be a hotel styling choice. A few more hangers in the wardobe would have allowed more than just essential clothes to be hung up.

Excellent location. You can reach out the main spots without in 5-10 min walking. There are lots of shops, gym , restaurants, cafes only 2 min from the hotel. Reception is not 24h but I had no issue to check in almost 3am with self checkin. Staff very friendly and lovely breakfast!

Booked for the location near the train station and the price for a single bed room. The room was clean and the hostel was calm during my stay.

Only minor dislikes: - The shower is a bit small and the shower curtain doesn't help. - The building is a bit old, so acoustic isolation (especially for water use) is not great, but with earplugs, I slept well.

The staff were really very helpful, and went the extra mile to provide local information. Much appreciated! The hotel is right in the middle of downtown Cologne; walking distance from the cathedral and the pedestrian area. Breakfast was very good; pretty much anything you'd want in a most pleasant room. They also provided secure bicycle storage, which in downtown Cologne is very important.

The hotel is, well, not new. The sink was cracked, the carpet was stained, the lighting was poor. But none of this really negatively affected my stay. I was looking for an inexpensive place to stay in the middle of Cologne, and that's what I got.

great central location, clean and comfortable

I was called at 8pm saying I need to hurry up and check in even though I had already confirmed a check in between 9/10pm because of flight times. I was then woken up and asked if I was ready to check out at 9am when they have an 11am check out. Can’t decide if it’s efficient or rude

Good location, closed to restaurants, shops, metro,...in the walking distance 10 to 20 mn

For a short stay, the closet is useless, it makes the room becomes smaller. Tourists just need the shelf to put the suitcase, hang some clothes instead of the closet. I don't have place to put the carry on, have to put inside the closet.
