Hilton Colon Quito Hotel

we arrived on 8th Dec and the lobby is lovely but even nicer with the christmas tree and a small service to switch on the lights

this may seem petty but we were part of a tour but booked to stay the night before as it was easier to fit in with other travel plans. The tour allowed for access to the VIP lounge. the check in told us all about the VIP lounge but was quite insistent we could only access it the following day. overall we have 3 nights with the hotel (2 part of the tour) it just felt mean to not provide the vip acess the day early (which frankly we wouldnt really use as we were out on tours all day. ) also the lobby and bar is too cold to sit in, we didnt bother having a drink as was freezing. Hotel is a little dated but clean.

The staff of hotel is very helpful, arranged the Covid test for us , the lab personnel came to hotel sampling at lobby for us , and result to us email within 4hrs . Also hotel staff arranged a taxi for us , told the driver our plan for the day . Took us to the Middle of the World, Virgin of Quito , Basilica and also wait for us for a short lunch . The charge was very reasonable, the service was excellent. Hotel also arranged extended time for us to stay for middle night flight departures. That is very important us so we still have time to relax at the hotel for several hours before get on the plane . We are really pleased with their service. The restaurant also offers continental breakfast for 8$ , also have a good menu for lunch and dinner.

There was a terrible problen that caused real inconvenience - the magnetic card for the elevator and room door very often did not work. I had to cahnge cards many times, and even more often ad to ask the conceirge to follow me to the elevator and the room. This is absolutely unfitted to a good hotel like yours.

The staff were very nice and the Hilton had a convenient location. The hotel restaurant was reasonably prices and there were many other restaurants located near by.

The room was a little hot. We kept setting the temperature to 67 and it was always turned off when we came back to the room.

Food was okay. Covid protocols have limited appearance of the food presentation. Location great. Front desk service was very helpful.

Rooms were cold. Front desk helped out with a space heater. We talked with some of the locals who said this was considered winter in Quito. Seems, like many places in South America, buildings have no heating.

Checkout should have been midday, but Reception let us stay on until 14.00 when we were due to depart to the airport. This was important as my husband was suffering with altitude sickness and it gave him somewhere quiet to lie down.

Big, safe, and next to a park and nearby restaurants. The concierge was helpful in getting taxis to and from old town.

A little far from walkable areas, needing to take a taxi. The coffee maker wasn’t working very well and when it did, it was pretty rough

Staff was very helpful, especially since I don't speak Spanish. Near a park with an art market.

I was going to Galapagos Islands and had to have another COVID test. They arranged for a cab driver to take me to the test site, explain that I needed a rapid PCR, wait for me, and bring me back to the hotel.

The Hilton Don Colon was a great stay for us. Our room was great and we had a great view of Quito. The hotel also had good bio security measures in place which was also reassuring. The hotel is also well located to get to attractions in Quito. We were supposed to stay one night but had to add a night because there was an issue with the tour that we were supposed to go on. The staff was great adding a night for us and even sent a plate of chocolate covered strawberries to our room because they knew how frustrated we were about our tour cancellation.

No meals included. From menu, all ok. No complimentary 24 hour coffe.
