Melissi Beach Hotel & Spa

We’ve stayed here several times on a B & B basis. Breakfast is the usual average fair you find in a holiday hotel. However the pool side snack bar Kyma produces an excellent choice of food on its menu that is exceptional value for money & of an exceptional quality too! The Spa /gym is very good too & the massages are the best my wife & I have ever had!

This is a predominantly Russian clientele type hotel, which in itself has never been a problem for us as English, however it seems that because of this the staff are used to dealing with them & not other nationalities so can now & again be a bit serious / rude.

+ Location. Perfect for beach lovers. Convenient in terms of shops, restaurants and exploring South East Cyprus. Room. We had the one with jacuzzi - large enough and relatively modern. Cleaning. Good overall. Could do better with under bed cleaning. Food. Well, I read all the reviews re food and decided to book breakfasts only. Breakfasts are good. You should not compare them, of course, with any five star hotels (it is not ritz carlton etc), but it is very decent for its level; English breakfast was excellent; enough variety for a week stay, not sure re a longer stay though. Lunch at the Pool bar was also good: fresh, tasty and large. Staff. Polite and helpful overall. There was a confusion re early breakfast. Make sure they really understand what you ask. +\- SPA. It is clean, but very basic.

-Pool, beach, etc. as per other reviews, some guests put their towels, etc on the sun-beds around the pool around 7am and come back later, if at all. Larger sunbeds/sofas are always reserved that way. Inconvenient Beach. There are also sunbeds outside the pool on the way to the beach, what is convenient for those who want to be closer to the sea; calmer compared to the pool area. The beach is crowded Other Guests. families with kids mostly. Majority are Russian speakers. We also heard Greek, English, Ukrainian, Polish and Dutch.

The staff at the restaurant is friendly and welcoming, making for a pleasant breakfast experience. The breakfast served is of high quality, and the rooms are spacious and cleaned daily. The swimming pool is well-maintained and provides a relaxing atmosphere. Additionally, the yoga classes offered are enjoyable and well-run. The location is good nearby statues Park, grocery stores and restaurants Overall was an enjoyable experience!

Access to the spa facilities, such as the sauna and jacuzzi, requires an additional fee, as do the sun chairs located on the beach. Furthermore, it was observed that even the adaptors, which are typically provided on loan in most high-quality hotels, in Melissi were being sold to the guest. The cot was a good brand Chicco but unfortunately, apparently, a hard board located below the mattress was missing. The ladies that settle the room gently put on two mattresses but we could still feel the crib structure.

The moment we arrived, hotel staff impressed us with the attitude. Everyone was very polite and helpful: receptionist, cleaning ladies, restaurant hosts and waitresses, animation team. I'd rate staff 11 out of 10. Rooms were nice and clean, beautiful view on the pool/sea side. Cleaning happened every day, consistent and at the same time (after breakfast and before the lunch). Beds were quite comfortable. Air-conditioning actually responded to the control panel and we were able to set proper temperature. Food was good and diverse, there were typical continental breakfast dishes as well as local specialties. Animation team was very entertaining, a lot of people including myself were engaging in different activities like water polo and volleyball. Mini disco for kids in the evening and games and drawing during the day. Hotel has direct access to a beautiful beach with sunbeds and stuff, so we were always able to choose if we want the pool or the sea. All in all, great experience. I am not sure if we return to Cyprus, but if we do, this hotel will be the first option to consider.

The only thing we did not like is people "reserving" sunbeds with towels. I guess that's the way with most of the hotels. But if I am to pick one thing to improve, that would be the sunbed reservation issue.

The hotel has a lovely pool area and is right on the beach. The location is great, on a quieter road but only 10-15 minutes walk from all the restaurants and bars. Spa (for extra cost) and small fitness room were also nice. Rooms were very basic but comfortable. Overall we found the staff very friendly and helpful.

This isn’t necessarily something the hotel can control, but during our stay, the public areas of the hotel were very overwhelmed with unsupervised children running around (including in the adults-only section of the pool, a rule that seemed difficult/impossible to enforce). This made for a very loud atmosphere (and this wasn’t even high season). Because of this, I think this property is maybe better suited to families or groups, rather than couples looking to chill/relax.

The hotel is new, with elegant common spaces, and clean and comfortable. It is located in a very quiet part of the resort, but not far by main attractions. In addition there is a bus station right in front. The pool garden is more beautiful than the pictures .The service on the pool bar is very good with very acceptable prices.The beach in front of the hotel is pretty pleasant - sandy and without stones on the sea entrance. In comparison with other hotels toward the port this is the best part of the beach. The resort center and the port is very close and reachable by feet for about 10 min. The service is very effective and friendly, we felt really welcomed. They organize some entertainment, but the main athmosphe is relaxed and calm. The rooms are basically furnished but they have the facilities you might need like coffee and tea maker. Minibars are not stocked. The breakfast is good, not lots of choices and lack of fresh fruit, but you won’t stay hungry.Overall very good hotel for relax in a very good value.

Melissi Beach Hotel & Spa has a number of great qualities including really friendly and helpful staff. We were a party of three so requested an extra bed which they were able to provide. When booking, we were even given details on a taxi service we could use which was equally affordable and easy to arrange. The hotel also provides towels which you can take to the nearby pools or the beach which was only a short walk away. Nice breakfast that ends at 10am and is really close to a lot of restaurants. The main strip is also about a 10 minute walk away. We also treated ourselves to some treatments at the spa which was an incredible experience!

Whilst it can't really be avoided, there was a small damp smell in the lifts, probably due to the close proximity to the pools so people will walk in wet. The second bed was uncomfortable to sleep on - however, the hotel was happy to accomodate extra pillows etc when requested.

Pool & sauna access not included into the price, which is maybe normal. In our country we have different rules.

Breakfast was excellent. Their was a great choice of food but staff was too busy to give you the necessary attention. There is also a lack of smiling and politeness amongst the staff e.g. I asked for an extra cup and although it was given to me I have the impression that I disturbed some of the members of the staff.

The staff should find ways communicating more and be more courteous. Some should also improve their skills in foreign languages like basic English.

Hotel is right on the beach, with less than a 10 minute walk to the Harbour. Room had a small fridge and Nespresso machine. Hotel was not noisy regardless of it being busy. Rooms were clean and practical. It really is a nice place to stay. and the views to the Sea are spectacular.

This is a tourist Hotel, so why the breakfast closes at 10 am I don't understand. Lack of signage (in areas other than reception). Some things were difficult to find (also when coming from the beach). Our room had a big balcony. It would have been nice to have 2 sun loungers on the balcony as there was a shortage of them around the pool.
