In the Shade Hotel - Coworking - 300Mbit - Adults Only

Our stay was wonderful from the moment that we arrived. The staff went above and beyond for every question or request. The Cafe onsite was some of the best food in town and the pool (in the shade most of the times that we required a moment of respite) was always refreshing. Our room was small, which was perfect in its own way, because we were there to be outside and experience a different culture. They had a smart tv and we didn’t have to worry about outlet converters for out electronics. The shower had hot water (my husband was just being special and turned the knob the wrong way). The smoothies and coffee were a great way to start the day. Everything was great. We would have stayed longer, if I didn’t have to go home to my dogs!

There’s not really anything that I didn’t like about the property. If I have any complaints l, it is about creatures comforts that I realize are subject to personal opinions and expectations from not recently traveling extensively in other countries. I just need more practice. For example: Occasional ants (we were in Costa Rica…) Not being able to flush paper (we were in Costa Rica) See? Ridiculous and has nothing to do with the hotel. The hotel, was awesome.

The manager Maggie was extraordinarily helpful and solicitous, from the moment we arrived until we departed a week later. We can’t say enough about how she made us feel at home. Everyone who works there followed Maggie’s gracious example, resulting in an extremely pleasant daily atmosphere.

The problem came after dark… specifically around 21:00 every night. A local bar started playing music LOUDLY, despite the fact that there didn’t appear to be many customers there. The noise continued until midnight (and sometime 2:00 a.m.) every single night, including Sunday. For this reason alone, we would not return to “In the Shade.” In fact, we will not return to downtown Tamarindo, because of that nightly noise nuisance. During the day, the downtown cacophony is exacerbated by music BLARING from a food court, where it is almost impossible to have a conversation. Sad.

We liked everything about In The Shade. The location is in the heart of Tamarindo. The hotel is adult only and that benefit was fabulous! The pool is pristine. The staff is absolutely unbelievably great when it comes to service and assistance for setting up excursions and they are friendly. It seems to me that the entire staff wants their visitors to relax, enjoy and leave the work to them. I cannot say enough great things about the staff—10 out of 10!!!! The food they cook by the pool is amazing. The price per night is great too. Also the Dragonfly restaurant next door has fabulous food and live music.

I spent two weeks here and loved it! The wifi in my room was great for long days of televideo via Zoom. The room and entire facility is clean and inviting. The owner Patrick and manager Maggie are exceptional! all staff are warm and attentive, I love it here and I'll return for a longer stay. The Thursday night social with snacks and wine is a wonderful communal experience for solo travelers to meet people. I had the queen suite which includes an outdoor kitchen which was perfect for a longer stay. Close walk to the beach, restaurants and grocery store!

Breakfasts were creative and delicious. Deluxe size room was very comfortable and clean. Bed was great. Pool was exceptionally large, well-maintained and very refreshing. Filtered water was always available. Staff was helpful in arranging tours. Premises felt secure. Towels for both the room and the beach were readily available. Thursday night get-togethers were fun and a very good idea (delicious appetizers, good way to meet fellow guests).

Guests had to have their own accounts for Netflix, Prime and TV i.e. not provided. No coffee machine in the room. At times, noisy because of nearby restaurants or bars.

All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating! The pool was amazing, we spent time everyday lounging by it. The location is really good, only about a 6 minute walk to the beach and a lot of good restaurants are within close walking distance. The bed was comfy. Food at their restaurant was amazing.

The room was quite small and there were no side tables or plugs by the bed which was advertised in the photo. There were some red ants in the room. There were water issues across the town which lasted about half a day which didn’t allow us to flush the toilet or shower but the staff were very accommodating with making it up to us.

Right from the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a smile and felt so welcomed. The room was very cozy, comfortable bed and pillows, A/C, great internet, rain water shower, hot water (which is a big deal I’m CR), they provide you with beach towels and shower towels, mini fridge, outdoor kitchen (with everything you need to cook) and coffee maker. The pool is beautiful and lights up in the night. This place was a perfect location, close to all amenities and restaurants, the grocery store is very close as well. The beach is also a short walk. They have a great work space for those digital nomads. My girlfriend and I both agree that this is the nicest place we’ve stayed at here in CR and we’ve travelled quite a bit. The night was very quiet and slept very well. Book no further! You deserve to stay here and you won’t regret it.

Only complaint is that we had to go home.

Incredible staff, incredible location, incredible value. I enjoyed the private deck with a view of the pool. Quiet overall, was a nice escape from the busy downtown.

There were ants and a few mosquitoes in my room which I didn't appreciate. The doors don't completely seal off from the outside so plenty more could get in. I hung a bag of non-perishable groceries off the closet door handle, intentionally keeping things away from ants, yet when I woke up in the morning it was infested - I had to throw out the whole bag.

Super nice outside area with a great pool to relax. Stuff was super friendly and helpfull. Coworking area with good furniture and great WiFi. Parkinglot in front of the place. Location perfect for all activities in Tamarindo. Amazing Smoothies and great little deserts just because you are a guest :) great!

Furniture in the room could be improved. Table at the bed, bed itself.

Everything. The room was excellent, the staff was professional, friendly, courteous, and took care of everything. It was the best experience that we have had in a long time. The pool was fantastic, the food was excellent. The owner was there every day and was incredibly accommodating. The location is wonderful, and we will definitely go back again. We liked everything about it
