Hotel Dorado La 70

I spent spent six nights at Hotel Dorado La 70 and can’t recommend it enough. Great location in the Laureles-Estadio district which is west of the busy city centre so much quieter - and less expensive than trendy Poblado - and only a four minute walk to the Estadio metro station. The hotel is located on Calle 70 and is surrounded by well priced bars and restaurants so can be a little noisy at night, particularly if there’s a soccer game at the nearby Atanasio Girardot Stadium, but having a few drinks and mingling with the mass of excited and boisterous Atletico fans drinking, singing and dancing in the street before they headed off to watch the match on a Saturday night was one of the highlights of my holiday. I had a room with a balcony on the 11th floor which had stunning views over the west of the city and the Andes. The views from the roof bar on the 12th floor were just as good, and it’s a great place to relax and watch the sunset over the mountains after a long day of tourism. The bed was big and comfortable, there was a well-stocked mini bar, flat screen TV, a desk with power points, and the bathroom was modern, clean and well appointed. Breakfast in the lobby restaurant was included in my room rate. Some of the staff speak English but even the ones that didn’t we’re extremely friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Gustavo at the front desk who was amazing. I was trying to book my outward flight with Avianca but their website kept crashing. Gustavo sat with me at one of the hotel’s computers and basically booked a flight with another airline for me, which as their website was only in Spanish I would have struggled to do myself. On top of that, it was at a more convenient time than the Avianca flight I was planning to take and significantly cheaper. Great service, great hotel.

Breakfast was not great, but otherwise perfect.

This is my fourth vacation in Medellin, and I always choose this place. The location and the balcony rooms are what i like best. The gym is a plus, as well. There's a beautiful young woman that worked the front desk at night (didn't get her name), and she was wonderful. Gustavo was cool, and Jose was the best. All three spoke English. They were GREAT... and that's surprising because the front desk there is usually unhappy, unfriendly people.

They have a Turkish bath (aka steam room). They won't allow the courtesy of turning it on late at night, but worse, it was broken for a few days.

It was in good location.

Noisy very much! I couldn’t sleep early morning because kids screaming and running down the hallway! I can’t comment on the breakfast because I didn’t go down and have some but the hotel staff was professional. My room was good but had no view, my window was looking down to the hallway. Shower didn’t have a ventilation whatsoever. Sink was clogged when I tried to use it too. But over all was okay for my few days of stay. I probably won’t stay there again

The hotel is in a good and safe location. Lot’s of restaurants and supermarket walking distance. It’s clean,the staff is friendly and very helpful.

The hotel is more for the people who goes for the night life. The street is very busy and at night very noisy. (Ps I went with a group for competicion so they choose the hotel because of the walking distance to the property). Other then that the hotel is very good.

The hotel is very clean and conveniently located around supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, bars, cafe and metro station.

Breakfast buffet was not that great, however breakfast menu is great. In the lobby is Tostao and you can buy a good coffee and tast pastries till late at night.

The room was nice and clean. The majority of the staff was friendly and professional. The breakfast was good.

One or two of the ladies of the staff at the breakfast buffet were rude. My spouse wanted 4 hardboiled eggs and they were almost reluctant to serve them to him until I got upset and told her, "This is a buffet breakfast, correct? Then you should be serving my husband what he wants." Furthermore, it happened more than one time. The room's view from the balcony is spectacular, however, the nightlife noise is unbearable. The noise continues till about 3-4 AM. We had to put noise plugs in our ears to be able to sleep.

The property is located on LA 70 which has many good clubs and restaurants in the vicinity as well as the Medellin Stadium and a metro station. This is an excellent location for nightlife and is centrally located in the city.

The breakfast was just average. The downside of being centrally located in an area with great night life is street noise. I had a room with a balcony, if you are interested in quiet, I suggest selecting an interior room as the street noise can be a distraction.

Breakfast was almost the same every day, not so much variety. May be better. Location was perfect, everything you can think of was close by. Even the exchange house was close by. The room was big enough.

It was sometimes very noisy in the lobby. I think it has something to do with it being a large hotel.

This is a very great location, right on the Main Street of a lot of bars and clubs. The room was huge, the balcony was great, and it was always clean.

It was about a 10 minute walk from the really cute restaurants and cafes. La 70 is a little noisy, but right if it are tree lined Avenidas with delicious restaurants.

Breakfast was good with eggs, fruit, rice, coffee, and juice.

We arrived early, about noon. We could not check in till 3:00 and they would not let us park our car in the garage till we checked in. We therefore had to pay to park in the street which we did for 2 hours, which gave us a 1/2 hour grace time to to check in. However, at 3:00 there was a long line to check in. It took 45 minutes before we were checked in When we returned to our car we had a ticket. We then proceeded to look for the parking which required a complicated route to find though it was actually below the hotel. We could not find it and had to return to the lobby for better directions. They assigned an employee to ride with us and we eventually parked in the garage. All of this irritated us greatly and spoiled our impression of what otherwise is a fine hotel.
