It was exceptionally clean. I usually know when I walk into lobby if it is a good choice, the room was even better than I thought it would be. Very roomy, everything we needed was provided, Very comfortable beds and bedding. Very quiet, slept all night with out waking. will definitely stay there again.

The only complaint would be the styrofoam dishes. would have preferred paper-there was paper bowls. Being gluten, dairy and egg intolerant there weren’t many choices. I was hoping for oatmeal which isn always gluten free but it’s better than nothing.

The location of the Thunderbird is exceptional, right off I90 and on the east side. The Corn Palace and the downtown area are all on the east side of the interstate so the location is very handy. We come through Mitchell frequently and the Thunderbird Lodge intrigued us for it’s “throwback” look reminiscent of the older style hotels; outside doors, only two levels, circle drive in front! There is a newer area with inside doors throughout a hallway but we had an outside room and loved it. The room was amazingly quiet even facing E Burr St and we slept well. We didn’t partake in their breakfast because we were up and out before 7:00 am. We will stay there again for it’s cleanliness and for it’s value.

The hand towels were a little tattered but certainly serviceable! Not enough to deter us from staying again.

Small and cozy, parking was available close to the room. Both rooms were very clan and taken care of. Friendly staff, easy to deal with. Will return again.

A/C in the wall just above one of the beds, we had to turn it off and just open windows during the night. It night temperatures are below 65 it is tolerable. Wooden table finish is a bit sticky, probably needs a final coat or so... but in general it is minor and tolerable. Proximity of the train tracks, you can hear the train signals during the night.

The Thunderbird is a standout motel in Mitchell. We were offered a room in the new wing with clean, nice, new room, AC, and relatively quiet for a comfortable stay. Breakfast is very basic We are not interested in pools or hot tubs so cannot comment on those. For the price, it is a great value considering we were traveling during the Sturgis rally.

I like it’s proximity to the Interstate, Fuel, and Restaurants. The personnel usually manage to give me a room to accommodate my mobility issues.

The beds are too high and it is difficult for short people to get into and out of. This time, the room was really a bit beyond my capabilities because of distance from entrance and the bed height.

We were very happy with the accommodations...the house exceeded our expectations. We loved the privacy it gave us and the space was so homey and comfortable. Having a working refrigerator was such a huge bonus for us as we decided to stay an extra day and we were able to keep our food and medicine cold and ice frozen!!

This is a very minor issue but the management might want to look into this. The only complaint is the picture over the single bed in the front room. It did freak my mother out that she slept on couch instead. It was a little eerie and dark and the whole family agreed. I had to take it down and put it away so she would be comfortable.

We love the open parking lot under very bright lights in front of the entrance way, feels very secure. The staff is friendly and professional, they take pride in providing a very clean, neat and tidy place. Breakfast room was clean and stocked with items sufficient for everyone. Microwave, coffee maker and fridge in the room, ice machine down the hall. Easy check in and check out. We'll stop on our way back if time allows.

Quintessential American motel - exceptionally quiet room, clean, fresh - everything worked. Convenient to food and gas. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Curtain hangs several inches from window and lets in lots of light even at night. Could use a bowed shower rod.

Modest accommodation that was comfortable provided everything we needed. (Not nearly as elegant as their picture on line though). Breakfast was lame, but good restaurants right near by. Could use some updating, but seriously, for a short stay, good value and no real complaints. When you arrive though, just don't expect to see what to what you see online.

Breakfast and coffee. Didn't match up to what I was expecting from their on-line photos.

8.2

Large room with everything I needed for the whole family. Staff seemed genuinely grateful to have my family as a guest.

Might be the times more than the hotel, but this room cost me the same for one night as I paid for three nights at the previous stop.
