The hotel is on the sea front, great location to go swimming or walk on the white sandy beach. Tiny my assistant dog and I arrived at 3:45pm, check in was smooth, we had a standard single room, due to hotel had a lot of bookings for double and sea view rooms, we had a room at the back, with tea and coffee, a shower/wc, tv basic channels, towels and soap. the room was clean, housekeeping everyday in the hotel who did a wonderful job. evening meals/breakfast was tasty though the staff worked very hard/ though short staffed, Jay especially attended to my enquiries, assistant dogs are allowed in the bar area, so a staff member will have to assist regarding this matter. Overall, I found the hotel warm and welcoming to visitors, who have a disability or not. the hotel does have a lift to all floors, if someone does have a seen or un seen disability, they must inform the hotel with that information, because the hotel has big steps in the front entrance, but has a wheelchair accessibility door around the back, but the individual will need to inform the hotel, when they need that access, because the member of staff will need to open the door, and close it behind the disabled person. HELPFUL STAFF, DOG FRIENDLY, GREAT PLACE TO STAY FOR THE BEACH, WE WILL COME AGAIN!

The hotel will need a ramp in the front entrance, due to big steps walking up and down, not easy with mobility issues. The hotel does not have enough staff to serve customers during meal times.

Check in was easy with outstanding manners from the reception staff, the first room did not have a bath, so I ask for a room with one and once again the reception staff, went out of their way to accommodate my request. The room was basic, with a TV, double bed, clean sheets, tea and coffee, cupboards to put your clothes in, two chairs, talk/desk and a wardrobe. The bathroom had hand soap in a bottle and the bath was a little small, though I was grateful to have a soak. Housekeeping was outstanding, the staff in that department work very hard to keep the rooms clean with high standards. Breakfast was self service, with a cook breakfast, toast, Danish pastries, tea or coffee and cereal. once again the restaurants team work very hard, just like all the other departments throughout the Hotel. Plus, the bar staff are they to serve guest from people staying in the hotel for a day or two to visit the beach, or a wedding party, to celebrate the lucky couple.

The hotel is a truly beautiful building. Reception staff were welcoming and informative.

Our room could do with an upgraded mattress. I found it to be lumpy and uncomfortable. There wasn't the possibility of opening a window for fresh air. The wait staff at breakfast seemed unfamiliar with items on the menu. And, given the masking requirements throughout the hotel during our stay, I found it peculiar to have all guests in one room for breakfast when there was ample space to give plenty of room in the other side of the dining space. On the whole, we enjoyed our stay and would return.

Lovely big room and reasonably comfortable bed. Breakfast was good although would have been good to have been offered a choice of eggs. Toast juice croissants and waitress served tea and coffee all good. Great views but the vehicles, buses and motorbikes on road by esplanade could do with traffic calming in evening. Also crossing from hotel to beach was tricky due to the large volume of traffic! Pleasant welcoming receptionists.

The towel rail was rusty on top. The room smelt stale as we entered as if it had not been used for a while but that aired out over the 4 days. The glass shower protector on the bath/shower was too short so we ended up with a large puddle on the floor after each shower. The toilet seat is no longer white but yellow with age. Carpet has stains could do with a revamp? The curtain was incredibly difficult to pull closed and open.

I love Weymouth town, the hotel is facing the sandy beach. My room had a balcony, I kept the French doors opened all night to listen to the sea. the room was clean and tidy, with tea, and a coffee maker. The staff always work hard to support the hotel guest for whatever they seek or need, just be your self to be relaxed and recharged. during my time the weather was 21c so I walked up and down the beach 3 times, thus, I loved every second of my time there. The front end staff, Breakfast and housekeeping all did a wonderful job. I did use the bar area to ask for a green tea, before I retired to bed. I have visited this hotel over 5 times and will come back again and again and again!

My time was too short, owning when the weather is hot and dry, the sea and sandy beach is the place I love, however, in the UK we are not always are blessed with good weather unlike Spain, I would love Spanish weather all year round!

Had a fabulous room (No. 316) - up on the 3rd floor in one of the hotel’s turrets. It was large, airy and, best of all, had large windows on three sides with a wonderful view of the beach and bay

Only one small lift, which at times there was a queue for. There was also an historic lift, but pretty cranky and unreliable. With the number of people staying at the hotel, another lift would be good. The dining room was also incredibly hot because of the sunny weather. I appreciate that, because of the hotel’s history, there is no air conditioning and there were some fans, but it was unbearably hot during breakfast

The location of the property was perfect, and considering it was on the main road you couldn’t hear any traffic at night even when we had the balcony door open. It was clean and bright and the staff were amazing. Sito on the front desk was very attentive and helpful, and upon checking out we forgot a phone charger in the room and the lovely woman who must have gone into clean found it and caught up with us just outside on the street to give it back! Very impressed with this hotel and its staff!

The only thing that could have been better was the breakfast, it was good and there was some choice but it was a bit simple. Great for filling up for the day, and the staff were very attentive to top up hot drinks and clear dirty plates.

Great location, lovely large sea view room, huge bathroom, very comfortable bed, dog friendly, they even put a bonio in the room for him which was a nice touch.

Parking is difficult in Weymouth and no permits at this hotel but the reception team gave us useful information on where to park, the royal yard car park behind the hotel, it's a very small car park though so we were lucky to get a space, it's an additional cost aswell but it didn't break the bank fortunately. On the morning we were checking out the housekeeper knocked on the door but instead of waiting for a response just came straight in, the dog was obviously upset by this intrusion so I called out and she shut the door, it was only 9.45am, check out is 11am, housekeeping should know who is in the room and if we had vacated or not.

Views from the window of the beach/sea from the larger room. The single room wasn't so great. Beds were comfy and as we were in the end bedrooms, we didn't experience any noise.

The single room was so snall and squashed. Also, I stayed at another place (The Bridge House, Bridport) the next night, and the difference between what the £10 extra charge for a dog provided was drastic. At the Royal you get a big dog biscuit, at the Bridge house we had a cushioned little carpet area with dog water and good bowls, a throw and treats for the dog waiting for us in the room and then, the following day, dog biscuits and a little rug for the dog were laid out waiting for us when we came down to breakfast. SUCH a big difference
