Location - very well placed for exploring Derwent Valley, Chatsworth, Bakewell, Matlock , etc. Good local bus service, train station~1mile. Walking distance to Matlock Bath/Cromford Views from room balcony over outdoor pool/Derwent Valley. Free use of outdoor pool Friendly, knowledgeable staff Excellent sized room

Building a little 'tired' - flaking paint Improved cleaning/maintenance regime - tile grout in bathroom going blank, dirt between bath and panel All easily solved!!!

Lovely location and amazing Continental breakfast.

Young girl told me I couldn't check in even though I had prearranged an early check-in to my room so I could swim. However Jean the receptionist I spoke to on the phone came to the rescue and sorted my key out. Lovely lady both on the phone and in person 😊

Heating in room could have been better for the time of year radiator only on first thing in the morning and during evening till 10pm so we were cold at night and during early hours Would have liked to be able to get food in the evening without having to book before hand

Having stayed here a few times there was a noticeable improvement in the standard of the breakfast and when items ran out they were quickly replenished. Not previously stayed in the annexe before and it was nice having the balcony. Plenty of parking and just a short walk into Matlock Bath. The main attraction for me however is the wonderful pool and it’s welcoming life guards. Generous check out time.

After a long drive I arrived at 7pm tired and hungry and it was very disappointing that there were no bar meals available that evening or tables available in the dinning room even though it didn’t look particularly busy. I should have remembered from a previous visit that it’s prudent to book a table in advance if you’re wanting to eat in the restaurant. Fortunately it is just a short walk to a number of food venues down the road.

Having a room suitable to our needs. Ground floor where we could park our car outside the room. We are disabled mobility etc problems. The large window in the room was inspiring where the gardens & the swimming pool were shimmering in the sunshine. very peaceful .

Very dusty in room , needed polishing the dust was embedded I think. The T.V. Control was filthy really needed a sanitizing clean. Especially with the New Strain of Covid starting up again. We weren't served at the breakfast table for breakfast, i.e. pot of tea & coffee. as a member of staff hadn't turned up. Though the Continental breakfast. was lovely.

The geothermal lido (outdoor pool) was amazing. A bit cold when you first get in, but you quickly adjust and then you're swimming lengths in fresh mineral water. I just wish we lived nearer! The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. The suite we booked was a good size and the hotel felt very peaceful. Like many, we checked previous reviews before booking and in particular the less great ones. Can't understand any of the criticisms made, except perhaps the hotel being "a bit tired" - there was the odd scuff here and there, which looked to be from guest luggage and not exactly complaint worthy. Although we obviously didn't see all the rooms. In any case, we were very happy and thought it excellent value for money.

The employee at reception on arrival was not the friendliest. Very to the point. Seemed in a rush though no one was waiting behind us. Dinner service starts and ends too early. Advertising suggests the pool is warm, it is not. The water was 19.8 degrees, fresh and actually quite nice to feel energised but they should be clearer about this in advertising. No toilet brush in the room Empty shower gel bottle left in the shower from the previous guest No room service No robes/slippers etc Would expect at this price point (got slippers at a hotel which was 1/2 the price of this for the night earlier in the week)

Location fantastic as were the hotel staff. The outdoor pool was an added bonus very much the main attraction. Spa treatments were very good and very thorough. Receptionist Jamilee was lovely and very helpful as were the ladies at breakfast and afternoon tea.

Spa facilities didn't open on time. No one to greet us on arrival to explain where everything is or what you could do. Sauna was out of order. Hot tub wasn't ready. All needs updating. No real relaxation area. Needs direct access to outdoor swim pool from spa. Wasn't allowed to use dressing gowns to access the pool as a hotel guest unless booked into the spa. Would have brought our own if we were made aware when booking.

A great bedroom with a balcony overlooking the pool, huge, extremely comfortable bed and a large bathroom. All spotless. The thermal, spring-water pool is a treasure.

The food was disappointing. My wife's Caesar Salad was made to a bizarre recipe, bearing little resemblance to this classic standard. My fish finger sandwich was bland, dull, and meanly filled. To be fair, though, the chips were excellent. Breakfast was very limited, with self-service in a cramped and gloomy little side room. The coffee was nasty. This is a great hotel, let down by its poor catering.
