Hotel Krone Thun

Comfortable clean rooms and lovely staff. We had two rooms with a view of the square and one on the 3rd floor with a view over the river. Lift access.

The restaurant was not open on the two nights we stayed (Sunday and Monday) which we didn't know before we booked. There wasn't much open around the hotel and we had an elderly person with us who couldn't walk very far. On the second day we didn't get another bottle of water when the rooms were refreshed which was a shame and it was too late to buy any when we got back. The tea/coffee station (very good idea) on that floor had also run out of water. It may have been available on another floor. The vending machine was out of order. No shampoo or conditioner but had shower gel.

A friendly welcome from Larissa & Isobel with information about the local area too. Lovely area & hotel in great location by the square. Short walk to the Riverside & lots of restaurants although we found the red ox just along the road & had a lovely meal there. Room lovely & looked out over the street. Nice comfy bed & very nice breakfast! Liked that you could boil your own egg so have an egg exactly how you like it & hot too! 6 minutes gave you a perfectly cooked egg with a nice soft runny yolk! Wish we'd had longer than 1 night! Thank you Hotel Krone!

We liked everything!

i like the location, where there are lots of interesting creators' stores on the street, and along the riverside, there are good restaurants and the old bridge and the view... the breakfast is good, especially the egg they prepared is quite good. (i mean the raw egg for boiling). i happen to stay there during the Thunfest, and the hotel informed in advance there would be loud music the whole night. i love music and ...when i open the window it's like i am sitting in the VIP room in a concert. that was fantastic!

not yet think of something bad...

Located at a very nice place in Thun in between the views of the castle and river. However, not so close to the train station. However, you can use bus to reach the nearest stop which is 200 metres away from the hotel. so its perfectly fine.

Not value for money because you stay away from interlaken region to save the costs, but the costs here are the same. Breakfast was really bad. Nothing substantial to fill the stomach. I would have rather preferred to grab a quick sandwich and a coffee from coop than paying for this breakfast.

Amazing location within old town. Easy walk from the main train and bus station. Plenty of food options around and easy access to surrounding towns like Interlaken and Bern. We also loved the coffee and fruit station available on our floor. All amen does we’re excellent t and very clean, staff were friendly too!

We didn’t love the bed and the outside noise. The window opened up to a square full of restaurants and bars with was quite noisy at night and the garbage being collected in the morning was pretty loud.

Good location. Convenient in transportation. Located in city center. Staff are really helpful and friendly.

I met the festival. And my room was facing the stage of the festival. Until 2am, I kept hearing loudly music from outside of the window. So the window is not sound proof. But I think I am just unlucky And choose the wrong day. The staff helped in solving the issues. So at the end, it was a good stay. If there is no festival, I will feel appreciate to stay in this good location hotel.

The hotel is right in the middle of the old town so walking distance from the castle, restaurants and cafes. We have 2 small kids 5+8 so we booked a room with one double bed and two single beds which was great.

Getting there was tricky. The hotel is literally in the old part of town so the car does not reach the entrance to unload. We had to park the car at one of the car parks near by and then reach the hotel on foot. Not too much of a distance but we were 4 so there was a bit of logistics to tackle to get there. However the hotel does offer some car park chips to pay off part of the cost so that has been a nice surprise.

The room and toilet were spacious. We arrived for 3 night stay n on the 2nd day they controlled the room temperature due to winter. But it was mid Oct. We told the Recep that we felt warmed n they did their best n found us a fan to cool the room. Amazing service and super clean rooms.

Our window didn't hv much privacy as there was this particular roof awning tat was in between. Guess due to the level we were in. Felt a little 'exposed' although curtains can be drawn, but as mentioned above needed to open windows to cool the room .

Very convenient and lovely location on a main historic square in the centre of Thun, right by the river. Great café on the square as well. The covered parking garage was close by and easy to get to. Staff was kind. Free coffee and tea available on each floor and snacks/other drinks for purchase. Clean, nice, comfortable room.

This is being very picky, but as I stayed with my dog it would’ve been a nice touch if they had provided a water bowl for him (many restaurants do this).

Great location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was comfortable. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant. It was great. Wonderful service and the meal was wonderful. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Only challenge was getting there. There are a number of pedestrian only streets and if you're not familiar it can be confusing. Google maps was not very helpful. When we did arrive and received instructions from reception for where to park it was perfect. Parking garage is very convenient and built into this beautiful historic city.
