Mövenpick Hotel Basel

Its location right beside the Basel central tram station (which is right beside the Basel SBB train station) was very convenient. There were some inexpensive restaurants in the neighborhood as well as grocery stores. The breakfast buffet was superb, with a great selection of breads including the brioche / butter zopfbrot. The staff were very helpful, and were able to help us with our luggage when we arrived too early to check in. The rooms and bathrooms were nice and modern, with great use of wood details and stone textures. Great views from being one of the few tall buildings in the area.

Very near the main train station and close to several trams stops too which meant getting around was effortless.

My room included a free Basel card to get complimentary pubic transport in the city and half price admission to galleries etc. I arrived at 11am for a 3pm check-in so didn't go to my room straight away. I wasn't given the Basel card until I checked in... by which time I'd spent hours going around the city etc so could have saved some money. Even if you can't check in immediately to your room it would be helpful if reception could give you your Basel card when you arrive.

great design and high quality of finishings, modern solutions, lovely staff, spacious rooms, very good breakfast, perfect location, smooth checkin and checkout, quite spacious parking, everything that you would expect of this kind of a hotel was in place

too hard bed for me, didn’t sleep well AC for heating or cooling solution - I am not well with AC and I was afraid to switch it off as it was the only source of heating (in December). extra charge for fresh juice at breakfast empty fridge in the room (no snacks nor drinks)

Clean modern hotel.

Generic design that could be anywhere and does not age well even though the hotel is only 2 years old. Very impersonal ambiance with only an absolute minimum of staff. Many inconveniences, for example the room service menu is only available by scanning a QR code on the TV screen, why not put the menu directly on the TV screen. Numerous other bad details like this everywhere. This hotel is not good for the Mövenpick brand.

Huge international hotel, lavish breakfast. Nearly the only hotel in downtown where you can find its own parking possibility in the street in front of the hotel, and it has its own garage ! Miraculous view from the full-glass window at upper floor rooms. Very good sound-proofing.

Poor selection of dinner, the fully automated and computer aided elevator was very annoying. The minibar was empty.

I had booked a room excluding breakfast. When I arrived at the breakfast room, I ordered orange juice, toast and tea. First the waiter took my order, then a few minutes later, a second waiter appeared, probably more senior than the first one and asked what I would like for breakfast. I told this person that I have ordered and repeated my order. A few minutes later, the first waiter came back to the table to say they do not offer toast, it was either the buffet or a la carte!?! So I said no problem I will just have orange juice and tea. Two minutes later, the second and more senior waiter reappeared to say that my order will take a few minutes. I told him that I was just told the hotel do not offer toast. The senior waiter said not to worry and he has told the first waiter to place the order. All this took 10 minutes and the friends that I were meeting up with was watching this take place with amusement.

Excellent location in the city, nice atmosphere, modern setting, friendly and helpful front office staff

At first, the location was unhelpful. Because we were traveling with three expensive racing bikes, we wanted to be able to store them somewhere safe at night. Inquiries by e-mail were answered in 1 sentence with a “We do not have a room for bikes, just the parking”. Not very promising… However, when we arrived the doorman was waiting, who helped us to remove the bikes from the car, which he then took to the luggage room. Problem solved!

Just a min walk from station. We got a free upgrade to high floor with a panoramic view of the city. Spacious room with floor-to-ceiling window. Special remark to the automatic curtain which avoid the direct sunlight exposure when we wake up around noon. Exceptional and attentive services. Frontline staffs serve us chocolate and drinks when we do the check out!

The toilet seat is not in right position

Wonderful and clean. Convenient location. Helpful and attentive staff. Comfortable bed. Great of the city. Basel Card included free public transport and discounted experiences.

The head of the upstairs restaurant rudely suggested we might be more interested in the cheeseburgers in the lobby Bistro. Luckily, the staff downstairs were excellent, friendly, and served lovely food.

Everything from the location, breakfast buffet, room facilities, comfortable bed, parking lot. Everything! What I really appreciate and acknowledge so much is the baby cot with mattress. And how much the staff help us with the baby while the hotel looks more for a business traveler. That gives me chill. Get room 1101 for the best view!
