Atenea Port Barcelona Mataró

The location is great, with a nice view over a large small boat habour. The public indoor areas which are nice and cool in summer are pleasant and the outdoor areas, i.e. part of the restaurant and then the pool, are pleasant. The (paid) garage has particularly wide parking spots, which is not the case everywhere in the area. We are approaching our tenth stay at this hotel over a period of some seven years, which means it is a favourite of ours....

...that said, the rooms and the common areas are not as fresh as they used to be anymore, but there are stains and cracks here and there on walls and on the floors. Nothing major, but having visited every year, one notices that a few fixes would soon be needed. The staff has always been, and remains, perfectly correct and polite, but never particulary friendly (the exception being the man of a certain age in the breakfast area who has character and whom we like).

One of the niciest hotel we've been to. The hotel have everything you need. The room is very big and comfortable, the bathroom is also very big and nice equiped. The balcony is exceptional and the view from balcony is on the pool area and on the port. We decided to stay in Mataro and to visit Barcelona. The hotel is right on the Mataro port and right on the beach. Along the beach, next to the hotel, there's a lot of restaurants and bars where you can enjoy. The swimming beach is 5 min away from the hotel. The hotel is next to the train station, and you can get to Barcelona ( center of Barcelona) in 40minutes. You are traveling with the train along the beaches, and it's very beautiful trip to see. You can get from the train on every station and you are right on the beach. We also visit and Mataro city and it's very nice Spanish small city. There's a lot of free parking next to the hotel, but sometimes is crowded so you'll need to wait for the place. The hotel also have their private parking. We recommend this hotel and we will be back for sure.

Since 2017 my family and I have stayed for 3-4 days at this hotel every summer...which probably makes it clear that we really like it. As I have written in previous years... the seaside rooms have a very nice view over the Mataro small boats port and the sea. The outdoor pool is nice, the rooms fairly spacious and clean, and in general the hotel gives a fresh impression. The parkling spaces i the garage (extra charge but well worth it) are unusually wide for Spain (or anywhere else in Europe for that matter).

The staff is perfectly correct but not particularly friendly. The breakfast offer is a matter of taste and preference of course. My wife really likes it, whereas I would prefer a better choice of vegetables and a proper fruit salad. Still, it is alright.

The bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows very hard. Breakfast you had a good choice and was self service. We had a meal in the restaurant which had be warmed up and not fresh and we complained to reception and they did not charge us for the meal.

The beds could have been better. Had difficulty sleeping as it was hard and they had a rubber sheet under the sheet which made you sweat. There needs to be an improvement in the restaurant as the food was not good at all.

The hotel is located on the Port and our view was really interesting. We were also over the pool. Breakfast was excellent . The beds are comfy and the air conditioning is very quiet.

The outside drinks area could be a little noisy especially if your room is directly over it .It is a lovely area to have a drink and people were really enjoying it.

The staff was extremely nice and helpful, from the front desk staff being flexible and friendly, the manager of breakfast being attentive and pleasantly quirky, and the cleaning staff going above and beyond to meet and anticipate our needs. I truly enjoyed almost every aspect of our stay. The location is perfect and provides access to a variety of dining choices, a convenience store within 5 minutes walking, and a metro station with reliable service 5 minutes away. The beaches within walking distance are the reason we never used the pool. The sand is ideal for me, the beaches not too crowded even on Saturday and the water clean and fairly clear. If you get a chance, walk a bit into Mataró and find the Arepas shop!

The one issue is that the rooms are not exactly soundproofed as advertised when the doors are closed. Similarly, if you have loud neighbors, the balcony loses it’s appeal. The shower in room 229 leaks in a strange way, with water pooling on the floor of the far side of the sink as you shower. This might be something that can be fixed.

This has been a favourite hotel of ours and we have have returned here six years in a row. It is still nice and we shall return for another stay in August...

...though some saving measures seem to have been introduced, like equipping rooms with smaller and cheaper TV screens (unless I am mistaken) and replacing the small bottles with shampoo, conditioner and some similar bottle with one large bottle of "all in one" placed in the shower cabin

All over it's okay and the place is nicely situated close to the centre of Mataro. It's a relaxing relative quiet place although it's in the harbour and close train, its not noice.

The patatas bravas are the wurst ever. Its by far not up to the standard. The woman serving on the terras, nervous, like she was scared we run away without paying, short memory of asking for room number all the time, wanted us to remove, we were there already over an hour ordering food and drinks and as another group, arrived and wanted our place. There were plenty of the same places empty.

The hotel is very comfortable with easy parking at €9 / day Nice restaurant and easy access to port and mataro beaches. The only downside for us was the dry dock engineering works adjacent to the swimming pool. On one day an especially toxic old diesel engine from the dry dock was spewing diesel fumes over the whole pool area. We accept we were unlucky with the breeze direction that day but it was very unpleasant.

Great breakfast. Wonderful view from balcony. Lovely pool. Staff friendly. Good selection of bars and restaurants close by plus short walk to train for Barcelona (West) and Costa Brava (East).

When it was raining it would have been good to be able to go to the inside rather than outside bar! Although the lovely Irena was very helpful and had a good sense of humour.
