NH La Avanzada

The room was functional and adequate. The aircon was working well, which is important given the high temperatures outside. The NH team cleaned every day and did a great job. There was hardly any noise outside (room facing the back, not the main road). The parking is an extra cost but comes in handy. Most of the reception NH staff were very helpful and kind.

The clientele seems to be on group holidays and mostly people on business. The breakfast - I walked past and gave it a miss as it did not look appealing by Spain's standards, or compared to the high value for money you can find in nearby Getxo, say. No dinner service in July/August - not an issue given all the options within 5km for those that know the area however with 4stars in the Basque Country you'd expect a stronger gastronomic focus during the peak seasons. I found from locals that the 'restaurant / bar' opposite the entrance appears to be in fact a sex worker night bar. Quite discrete however not the sort of vibe you'd like opposite your hotel. The plastic flora should have been a give away perhaps!

The hotel was very clean and comfortable . The area was in Leioa, a residential area , far from the center of Bilbao . You need a car for sure . In front of the hotel there are plenty of free parking areas. But also the hotel does have private parking at a cost of €7 ( per car ) per day for hotel guests. No need to book. Just decide when you arrive. Great air codition system . Great beds. Great bathrooms .

The breakfast was not included in the room . You can choose out of 3 options . But generally i found it very poor even the buffet option and expensive for what it is offered. There is a cafe very close so you can go on foot ..But remember, it is a residential area and you won't find a lot of shops around. And also there is a club opposite the entrance of the hotel , not very reputable i think , but that has nothing to do with the hotel and the general area, which is very safe .

Room was nice, Breakfast was excellent and the staff were helpful and pleasant to deal with. Always makes a stay anywhere great when the staff are good to deal with.

Restaurant and Bar were closed at the weekend and we were there on Saturday night. Reception gave us a map and marked out some local restaurants and tapas bars. Very helpful

We had a wedding in Getxo and this was a very comfortable accommodation for it specially if you’re coming by car. Room was very spacious and comfortable. Furniture was new and all was very clean.

Nothing to complain.

Super duper comfortable bed and pillows in a large room. Easy to get to from the main road.

Restaurant closed for 2 months and there are not many good options close by to eat. Breakfast was expensive for what they served.

Convenient and functional hotel, which has a good location to explore the Biscay coast near Bilbao. Despite being next to a motorway, no noise within the room was heard

The evening meal was substandard. Fruit was a choice for dessert. The waitress came over with a bowl of apples and oranges and said "choose"!!

Amazing service. Staff went above and beyond to meet our needs. They even found a special pillow to help me with my recovery as I was travelling for an operation. A great room; quiet which is what we asked for and so clean with items protected / removed for Covid reasons. Hand sanitizer everywhere, arrows telling you where to walk and no sharing of pens at reception with a used box to put them in. Very impressive.

Location isn’t great for lots of local restaurants and shops but we needed to be in that area for medical treatment. Just remember places don’t serve dinner until 8pm out there!

Very comfortable bed and specious room with excellent WiFi. It is a bit out of the way from the center but parking on site was very handy and the staff were very friendly.

Would be nice to have tea and coffee facilities in the room or in the reception area as there was nothing available.

Very friendly check-in, professional and fast. Good breakfast, nice rooms, easy with car. Always parking space in front or very near the hotel.
