Sabi River Sun Resort

Absolutely beautiful resort. Very well maintained and with plenty of amenities (golf course, pools, tennis ...). There are hippos in a river next to the golf course. Excellent breakfast. A special thanks to the guys who cooked our eggs. They were perfect. The dinner buffet was excellent. There were different offerings every evening and the waiters offered excellent service. Also, a special thanks to the barman who made excellent drinks. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The resort is a short drive to Phabeni Gate. It is also possible to visit the Blyde River Canyon but watch out for potholes in the road toward Graskop.

The hippos were amazing, seeing them up close and then getting out of the dam to go to the river every night l, truly special. The kids activities and entertainment keep them busy and happy. The food was good and tasty and nice variety. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Carl that moved our room to back of the hotel after experiencing noise in the front - he went out of his way to ensure we were happy and comfortable. It’s really close to Phabeni and Paul Kruger gate.

A warmer pool during winter would have been lovely as it’s hot days but pool water was freezing during these colder months.

Amazing staff- very friendly and helpful. Thought that the guy leading pool activities was great too. The massage therapists (I had two) were fantastic. The public grounds are beautiful. There's a nice looking golf course (I don't know play so I can't rate it), tennis courts, and a few other sport facilities.

At check in, I wish I had been told that tips are collected at checkout. I had given tips to servers constantly and then gave again at checkout because I didn't know. The bathroom is small. The hotel is a nice hotel as far as South African hotels go (in general I find that the South African hotels are a step down from USA hotels so a 4 star hotel in SA is more like a 3 star in the USA- my opinion only) but the rooms need an update. The public areas are beautiful and well kept. The convenience store is pathetic. I think it's owned by an outside company but it should be changed. Lastly, I loved my massages but didn't enjoy having to listen to conversations that some employees had right outside. I think they were from the office that is just opposite the salon.

Loved the place itself, so beautiful and serene. The staff was so friendly and the room was nice too and comfortable. We loved everything and had an amazing experience. Thank you so much, will definitely consider visiting again and recommending to others.

There's nothing negative to be honest. The only thing I'd say is more variety with the buffet esp on the protein side. Also, maybe consider adding an iron as part of the room items just like the hairdryer.

The facilities were clean, beautiful gardens and friendly staff. The general manager also accommodated us when we asked to have a family photoshoot done on their premises. Even drove us around with a golf cart looking at different options around the property.

The buffet wasn't as I hoped. Not a lot of options/variety on dinner. The one night they had pork and fish as the only meat. For someone who doesn't eat either of the two is left stranded. The bathroom in the room was also quite small. Wasn't expecting it to be that small.

The resort is extremely beautiful and has a lot of outdoor space around. The pool is a very good size and the rooms are spacious and very clean.

Our stay was half board and when we got to the restaurant in the evening to have dinner, we were told that it did not include certain meals and all drinks needed to be paid for including water! I have stayed at many hotels and usually water and soft drinks are included so this was quite a let down.

The hotel is located in a beautiful location on the banks of the Sabi River. Close to the gates of Kruger Park (10 km) and the panoramic route from the Grascope to the Blyde River Canyon. There is also an elephant nursery nearby, where you can interact closely with elephants. The hotel has a golf club and playgrounds for various games - tennis, volleyball, bowls and others. There is a walking trail along the river, where a herd of hippos lives.

The rooms have very poor sound insulation, so the noise from the corridor and neighboring rooms prevented you from sleeping peacefully. Also, electricity was cut off at night, which caused the air conditioner to make loud noises.

We loved the breakfast and dinner buffets. Delicious food, great service in the dining room. All the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was compact but had everything we needed. The beautiful gardens and golf course create space for peaceful walks. The dam has abundant bird life as well as hippos and crocs, which can be viewed from the hide. Be on the bridge over the dam at sunrise to see the hippos coming home, or at sunset to see them walking off to feed in the bush! I had an excellent back massage at the spa. We hope to return one day.

When booking the description by Booking.com was an understatement. A beautiful setting, outstanding staff and great rooms for a ridiculous price with breakfast and dinner included. Apart from that the half course is famed throughout the eorld as the home of th S African open with wild Hippos and crocodiles around the course. Service is always done with a beaming smile and nothing is too much trouble. Paradise.

The disappointing customer service by bookings.com that created an unpleasant check in process, and they do the blunder error of sending the booking with only mentioning 4 adults and not the 2 kids and the hotel been provided wrong info by them , when I made the booking for all 6 of us. Not enough the customer service agent who answered the call of the hotel was passing the blame game and to date bookings.com haven’t rectified their error, which made us having to pay more at the hotel for an error that bookings.com did. And they do not care what hassle the customer has to face for a error they do . And do not bother to even respond to customer service messages … says reply within 24hr but more than 48hrs still no response. Clearly ignores….
