Hotel Sao Mamede

The location is excellent. Near the beach and central. Staff was very helpful and pleasant..The hotel is not new, but it is well kept.

Train station is near by and the surroundings can be a bit louder due to the central position.

Fairly easy to find, inexpensive parking nearby, comfortable room, heating fine, bed fine, nice view of sunrise over the roofs in the morning. Bathroom spacious and everything worked. Plugs for sinks, a bathtub, good shower, proper drainage, ventilation, shower curtain, towels. Helpful front-office staff w ice and a glass for the room and pkg info. TV and Wifi also worked well. Great location close to beach access although on a main road. Close to restos nearby and the boardwalk. Good value for money. Breakfast also fine-standard.

Pillows were a bit crunchy due to protective layering.

the place is perfect! I mean - it is close to the train station (3 min walking) and it's easy to catch train to Lisbon (25 min ride), it is close to the public beach (5 min walking), it is close to the bus station where you can take the bus to Sintra, it is 30 min walking by the coastal promenada to the Cascais. the hotel has very comfortable beds, hot water and good water running, it is clean. it has elevators if you need some after daytrip to Lisbon ;)

a bit noisy, but it is noisy everywhere here, as the place is very popular.

It was super nice to arrive to my cosy room and find out we had a wonderful view from the window and a little balcony to delight our mornings. I asked the receptionist for a room with Seaview and they told me they would try... My expectations were overtaken and more if I consider the price for the room... Very nice staff. The hotel is equipped with very good facilities: the elevators are big and well lighted, the stairs, reception and salons are big, comfortable and very clean... I was expecting a much poorer experience, since the reviews I read were very low and bad, but I can say first hand that they are completely wrong or they do not correspond to the same hotel I was staying. Very recommendable for couples. You have the beach close by and the location is perfect for a escape tour in Poetugal... do yourself a favor and book your room in this hotel

I didn't really find something I disliked

Great location, perfect for Travel from and to Lisbon Airport and to Cascais and Sintra.

The buildings around are derelict and therefore walking at night and in the dark was a bit concerning.

the hotel is situated just perfectly!!! it is 3 minutes from the lockal train station and bus station, so you easily get to Lisbon (train goes every 20 minutes - don't forget to validate your ticket) and by 418 bus to Sintra (you can buy a tourist day ticket from the driver and he gives you a map and describes how to use it. it is very convinient as Sintra has many palaces and they are situated quite in the distance from each other, and sometimes on different cliffs. also you can go to the Cabo da Roca with this ticket and come back to Cascais too!!!) the pass to the ocean shore is near the station, the beach is perfect (you may rent the stuff or come with your own), the beach for kids and disabled is just close to the place. it takes an hour of spectacular walk along the shore to the Cascais marina port. it is brightly enlited in the evening. there are small lockal restaurants and bars (usually work from 12 to 17), some beach clubs with pools and high quisine (require vaccine certificate). the Casino is near too. tennis courts, sport point - everything in the walk distance. I lived on the second floor, windows to the train station. it was ok, because the train goes through special half tunel and you hear it but it's not very annoying. but it gives you ocean and two historical villas view. the bed was just perfect, though I didn't like the pillow - too soft for me. my room had blankets if you feel cold in night. the room was not big, but comfortable. the bathroom was really big.

close to the hotel are the repairment works at the moment, they buld something... it was not problem - no noise in the early hours and they always finished till I came bach to the room. but on my last day the scaffolds were just in front of my windows, so I should keep the window shut and the curtains as well as the builders were walking just in an arm distance... as it is 2 star hotel, they don't have their own kitchen, though I never was hungry after their breakfast (croissants, bread of different kinds, sausage, cheese, fruits, yogurt, musli, sandvicher, coffee machine, juice)

The location is really close to a wonderful beach - a 5 minutes walk. The same goes for the bus to Sintra or the train to Lisbon. Perfect spot for visiting around, even Cascais, if you can manage a 20 minutes walk. Great experience!

Can't complain about much. We got a really cold night and we would have liked a second blanket. We had two beds but only one spare. I am sure we could have asked as the service is great, but were just lazy at night.

it was easy to get to and had a simple quality with very nice staff

There wasn’t anything about the property but unfortunately loud music was being on at 4 of the nights I was there at a local venue close to the property which was very disturbing and my Kate evening’s unpleasant as I couldn’t get to sleep properly. That’s the only negative thing about my stay there.
