Pousada Palacio de Estoi – Small Luxury Hotels of the World

The hotel was very unique with a mix of new and old. Our hotel room was a good size with much needed air con. The breakfast was a mix of different foods to match the tastes of all the guests from different countries. The swimming pool had a beautiful view, particularly sun set. Each sun bed had a fresh towel and a parasol.

Amazing place. Large rooms. Comfortable bed. high pressure shower. Great building, lobby, gardens, swimming pool.

Breakfast had awful coffee from powder like in the automatic machines you have in hospitals and train stations. The orange juice was not fresh and sweetened. We couldn’t get any fresh juice, which is odd when it comes to a 5 stars hotel. The gym was hot and there was no AC. There were no towels and no water. We asked for water which never arrived.

The staff were lovely and really helpful. Breakfasts were good and there was a lot of choice. Comfortable sitting area in the main building and on the verandah.

We were put in one of the furtherest rooms on the 1st floor and the walk from the room to the main part of the hotel was a long way for us. For the price we also felt that there should have been coffee/tea facilities in the room. A observation on the pool area -we felt that more could be done to make it more pleasant ie the use of plants in pots to soften the landscape.

The grounds and property are magnificent, beautiful views all around, great sense of history, quaint village but not much to see

The rooms need a serious upgrade of furniture and decor They are spacious but need refurbishment Mattress very hard and springs coming through Common areas like patio, pool deck and restaurant patio are beautiful Pool is very shallow all over so that is bizarre Palacio areas are old and need upkeep/refresh and renovations even if historical Access to and from the hotel to any other destination is a little convoluted and can be dangerous in night Uber is relatively cheap (approx 15euros) to Faro or Loulé and better option for evening outings

I booked Pousada Palacio de Estoi for a single night because we arrived in Faro on a flight a day earlier than a villa stay started, to avoid airport strikes. I was just looking for a comfortable stop over for me and my family. Based on the price and the photos on Booking.com I wasn't expecting anything particularly special. However Pousada Palacio de Estoi delivered a luxury experience and level of surface that really exceeded my expectations. The photos don't do the hotel justice - it's a mix of modern and historic and both feel very well kept and upscale. I was impressed by the staff - at the front desk, pool side and at breakfast - who delivered the kind of professional and attentive service you'd expect from a hotel charging double. We requested a late checkout. The hotel couldn't accommodate that but let us use the facilities - like the wonderful pool area - for as long as we wanted on checkout day.

This hotel was indeed luxurious, beautiful and stunning. The view alone blows your breath away. The staff were amazing. The people there we very friendly. It is in a weird location but it's safe and comfortable. The Gardens there were gorgeous. You get 3 experiences in 1 history luxury and royalty. The food was excellent as well. I would definitely recommend. I went for my birthday with my partner and child, but there was a variety of age groups there. The staff did make it extra special.

Just the initial outside and the road as you approach could do with a little improvement.

marvelous property that has been beautifully redone. it combines modern and historical elements. The rooms are spacious. The staff is very friendly and pay great attention to customers. Very nice breakfast! There’s a bar at the pool, offering hot and cold beverages, ice cream and even burgers and soups. we used the hotel as a base for visiting Algarve but you can easily spend a few days here.

we stayed 5 nights and on our first evening, we found garbage on the property and told the reception about it. When we left, the garbage was still there. For a 5star hotel, this should not be tolerated. In the parking garage, there was one garbage bin that was already full when we arrived and it wasn’t emptied until we left (the other was, though).
