The location is excellent and the breakfast is as many have commented extensive-actually more than one person can eat. If you are travelling without a car this is the place to stay. if you have a car there are issues

there is no onsite parking public or otherwise. what there is is a reserved space in a resident lot about 150 feet away. be sure you are shown the exact spot to park the places are not identified as far as I can see but the residents all know which space is theirs. If parking in the resident lot is not available I did not see any overnight parking nearby so check with the host

Maria's Guesthouse couldn't have been more charming. There was so much for the eyes to feast on. Lots of art, flowers, artifacts, beautiful textiles, etc. It had so much personality!! The location was perfect and parking was (after finding it) very close and easy. The room was spacious enough and immaculate! In the common area there were lots of little goodies laid out for the taking - yum! Most amazing was the breakfast. WOW, WOW, WOW. So much effort and love put into it. We did not need to eat for the rest of the day. Thank you for a lovely memory!

A bit too much air freshner (scents) in the room for our taste but that is a personal preferance I believe.

-This is the gem to discover in Beja and surroundings. -A most warm welcome. Thank you Paulo and Maria's (three of them) -It is like visiting your best friends. A minha casa é a sua casa ;-) -Perfect room with special touch and a great bed. -The breakfast...no words for!! Home made, fresh, abundant...and served with a smile.. -They even have a place to park your car -Central location -Nice cosy inside with living room, beautiful artifacts, kitchen with fridge filled with cool drinks and snacks. Complete bar,... -Nice small garden to chill.

We booked just one night. A mistake we won't make twice. ;-)

Maria's Guesthouse is the gem of Beja. Extremely clean, excellent breakfast and comfortable rooms. The location is central and parking close and very safe. Bedding and towels were high quality. The comfortable courtyard in the back is peaceful a great place to enjoy a glass of wine after a busy day. There is a set of narrow stairs so if you have mobility issues ask for a room on the ground floor. Thankyou Paulo we really enjoyed our stay.

Everything was great!

The place was very cute and well maintained. The bed was comfortable, the rooms were cozy and warm. Everything was very historic, the city itself was quite historic. The guesthouse is maintained by a women who was very friendly and helpful. The staff was very friendly.

The only problem that I faced was with the breakfast, as I am a vegetarian who don’t even eat eggs, so it was a bit difficult for them to serve me with more things and I had limited or no options. But they tried there best to serve me.

An exceptionally beautiful, small old house with rooms designed by the owner with a lot of care and very good taste. He showed us around all the different rooms - each one just beautiful, with carefully restored (large part by himself) furniture and decoration. The bed very comfortable, and the bathroom equally well designed and comfortable. Breakfast was exceptionally good, with many choices, much more than we could eat, and lovingly prepared. The owener and staff very friendly and helpful. Public parking at no cost is available within less than 150 m. Perfect location between castle and Praca da Republica. A highlight of our tour, which also included several Pousadas. We liked this place most. Highly recommended!

Nothing, everything just perfect.

The host Paulu greeted us outside, showed the parking area just around the corner and took our baggage to the room. Very helpful and friendly! He showed us the communal rooms, offered Easter sweets and his own brews to eat / drink as we wished, advised us on a restaurant for the evening meal and booked a table for us. The breakfast was truly a feast - freshly cooked and with an abundance of fresh fruit. The room was pleasant with an Arabian décor. Very clean. It was not a luxury hotel but was very homely and pleasant.

A larger room and bathroom would have helped but everything else made up for this.

Paulo and staff are very welcoming and gracious. The room is lovely and the queen bed very comfortable. It's super-convenient to things to see and numerous restaurants yet parking is also readily convenient. Breakfast is served in a lovely interior courtyard which is cool even on a hot summer day. Breakfast would be enough for 6 people for sure, anything you can want. They keep an iced herbal tea available in the evening, which is quite refreshing. Paulo has a very creative spirit that shows up in many ways, including the delicious food.

Dina was the perfect host, very welcoming and helpful. The owner Paulo responded to my emails very quickly and was very helpful and flexible. My room was lovely and designed to be full of character in the Moors style The bed was very comfortable. This was the icing on the cake. The highlight of my stay has to be the breakfast which was fabulous and all freshly prepared. It consisted of a wonderful selection of fresh fruit, meats and cheese, bread and croissant, eggs if wanted and even home made marmalade which was delicious.

There really wasn't anything not to like about the accommodation. Unfortunately the weather for my visit was not great, rain, which meant I could not make use of the properties garden / terrace.

A house with lots of heart and attention to detail! All rooms are furnished and decorated according to different personalities. You are welcomed with the words “the house is yours” and even as we had problems the house owner attended to them immediately! Perfect service, super cozy rooms and an incredible breakfast! Next time when we are in Beja we will for sure stay in Maria’s guesthouse again!
