Horizon Hotel

the Hotel is well located near Gaya Street, right in the middle beween KK waterfront, Jesselton Ferry Point and central as well as Night market; within short walking distance one can reach numerous food stalls selling exellent authentic food for great price, so there is absolutely no need to have breakfast at the Hotel; the Hotel also has a smart gym with basic cardio and strength Equipment if one wants to quickly Workout; the superior Room was very spaceous, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was really high standard for Asian conditions;

the one and only thing what I was bothered about, was that the aircon was quite loud, so one almost had to switch it off to get a sleep - several Hours later it was too warm again so you have to make it cool‘n‘loud again

Location is very convenient. Mini market and pharmacy are just across the road. Next to hotel is a shell station and nx to it is a Halal chinese seafood restaurant with live fish, prawn, crabs, lobters etc. The price is very reasonable and cheap. Behind the hotel is a long pedestrian walkway, straight to the fresh market. From here, about 5-10min walk to Filipino market and seafood bakar stalls. The Gaya night market is across the road, nx to the pharmacy. The room is excellent, room service and fresh towels everyday. Breakfast included only for two person. But for kids under 12, only rm10/person.

No teaspoon for condiments in room. But that's ok. Everything else is excellent!

The location is the best, right in the middle of everything. It's easier to plan things to do. There are marts everywhere. The breakfast was convenient. The staffs are attentive and friendly. The beds are comfortable. Worth the price!

There's nothing in the fridge! Not a problem considering the price and sop measures. Was hoping for at least a minibar option. At night, the area is swarmed with people so you have to be extra careful with the surroundings. Shops closed quite early so you might want to stack your food in the room early.

Breakfast was nice.... Room was nice. Bed was big. View was good. Nice overall!

Leaving the pool on the 6th floor, the staff came and said 'don't drip water, dry before going to the lift.' But the problem was they didn't provide any towels for a dry up. They ran out of towels! Before requesting hotel residents to dry up and not wet the place, make sure the amenities are available! Anyway, I told the staff off and told him to get towels before opening his mouth.

The location...surrounded with interesting activities, the Gaya St, night and morning market.

The parking validation's process, have to go down the lobby, coming up to your parking, might be at 2,3 or 4 floor, and drive to the 2nd floor to activate the ticket before exit. The hotel practice or claimed to be smoke free hotel, but staff are allowed to smoke.. understand if the hotel management that the non smoking rules only apply in room.

Parking ticket obtained upon entry of carpark must be stamped at reception and ticket exchanged to an exit card at the car park for every exit. We had many trips in/out of the hotel per day thus inconvenient. Hotel guests residing in the hotel should be assigned a parking card for entry/exit for the duration of the stay for convenience. The main doorway led sensor light spoiled, we were informed that the light was out of stock thus entry to the room is kinda dark.

Location was great. The hotel is one block from Gaya Street and the Sunday morning market. Bataras grocery store is one block away. Numerous restaurants and coffee shops are with 5-10 minutes walking. The Suria Mall is a 10 minute walk and the Jesselton Boat Terminal is 15 minutes. The staff were great especially housekeeping. They typically had my room cleaned while I was at breakfast. The pool is lap size. The bed was large and comfortable. The room had a good size wardrobe with a safe. The bathroom had a walk in shower and small wooden tub. There is a mini fridge in the room. I had a great water/sunset view from my room.

The breakfast buffet items were often cold. Highly recommend getting the cooked to order eggs. I received a call one afternoon asking me to move rooms. The new room was only two doors down but it would have been nice to receive more warning. They could have told me at breakfast. The pool itself is big but the area around the pool is small with only two loungers.

The hotel is right in the middle of Kota Kinabalu. The famous Kaya Street (for night time hot food markets on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6pm and for the Sun morning market) is just about a minute walk from the hotel, literally. There are lots of restaurants and cafes in the vicinity. The waterfront is also within walking distance, along with a few malls in the vicinity. One of the bigger malls Suria Sabah is within a few minutes of walk from the hotel.

There is really nothing we don’t like about the hotel. Well if I’m pressed for something I personally don’t like I will say the hotel restaurant on the ground floor that serves breakfast needs a better coffee machine :)

Everything. Location great near taxis and bus station. Staff very attentive and efficient. Views over sea. Pool (unheated ) runs length of building about 30 metred very refreshing to swim in. Marble everywhere so beautiful. Black marble in bathroom so lovely. Breakfast buffet terrific anything one could want: eggs omelets veges coffee tea toast baked beans , rice porridge, jams danish pastries croissants, chicken and beef curries Kway teow etc. At a reasonable price.

Only one thing. The Asian (in house) Restaurant messed up my order on the ONE night three times in succession. It was expensive and the food was soso. Little, cheap but good restaurants are nearby at 1/5 of the price.

clean and comfortable room, Nice window view on sea King size bed, fridge, electric kettle, A/C , pleasant room lighting, shower with hot water, pretty big flat screen TV, free WIFI, open swimming pool at 6th floor, gem , always smiling staff, good location (near Filipino food night market- 5min walk) , shops & restaurants around. Transfer from airport 9-11 MYR with Grab , 7MYR to Tanjung Aru Beach with Grab.

A little old furniture in the room, far away to sand beach, very slow WIFI , quite high price as for Asian conditions.
