A great experience with a nice balcony view! Perfect location - on a main pedestrian street; near the sea; near the train station and the port.

1. There was no place in the bathroom where you could hang the large towels. 2. There was no soap holder, so the soap had to remain on the sink in the bathroom. 3. There was no cup or a place where one could keep a toothbrush in the bathroom. 4. The sewage in the shower cabin was clogged. Generally, the stay was very good with a few minor amenities missing, that you expect to see as basics in a 4-star hotel. 5. The breakfast was rather mediocre.

Hotel was in a great location, near both the train & ferry, on a main pedestrian street and near many restaurants. It was also about a 10min walk to the Duomo, the main tourist site. We were only there for 1 night, arriving on the ferry from Amalfi and leaving the next morning on a train to Sicily, so location was key. It was a newer, modern hotel with many amenities that you don't always find. We had a large room, big super comfortable bed, small sofa, good AC, mini fridge, tv that worked with many channel, tub wit a shower and full shower curtain so no worry about water on the floor, and an elevator. A decent breakfast was included in the price. Hotel staff also recommended several restaurants. We ate at Mamma Rosas, a family restaurant a few blocks away that was fantastic! Fabulous local food at great prices. We also got our photo taken with Mamma!

Room was spacious, but shower was a little small. Staff were incredibly helpful and informative and went above and beyond. Breakfast was good. Overall a very happy stay. Location was handy to train station and buses to Amalfi, Positano and beyond. I was very impressed with Salerno - such an interesting edgy city, great food etc. And very central for access to sites like Herculaneum, Paestum and destinations such as Naples, and Amalfi, Positano etc. Their Archaeological museum is one of the best I have ever visited.

There is not one thing I didn't like. Just a suggestion that the hotel may want to revise the description of distance from train station to hotel which mentions 7mins but is actually around twice that, which may leave guests wondering if they had missed it.

This is a great place to stay if you need a base to visit the Amalfi Coast. The location of the hotel is excellent - 7 mins walks from the train station (direct trains to Rome & Milan) and few minutes walk to the ferry pier (various stops to the Amalfi coast). Its also right in the middle of the high street which has lots of shops & restaurants and is always lively. The room was clean and very modern. Staff were lovely.

It's very basic so there are no facilities. It's very much like an inner city business hotel. You are there for a room only. The breakfast is super basic as well.

Location and staff are the main reasons why we picked this hotel. The reviews were extremely accurate. The staff at Reception were unfailingly polite and helpful as were the staff at the breakfast room, especially Chistina who always greeted us with a big smile. The rooms were a tad dated but spotless. We thoroughly enjoyed our four nights stay at Montestella.

The ever present noise from the street throughout the day and late into the night. However, closing the bathroom door proved a very effective solution to the problem.

The hotel is located in a pedestrian street in the center of Salerno, a 10-minute walk from the train station, 10 minutes from the cathedral and 5 minutes from the coast. Lot of shops around. I had a room with a terrace and there was a kettle with tea and coffee. The room was clean and tidy. There is a bidet in the bathroom. The breakfast was good.

Although the bathroom seems to have been renovated, there was a smell of sewage.

This was overall one of the best hotels we've stayed in. The location is amazing. It is on the main road to shopping, restaurants, historical sites, and much more. Within walking distance to the train station and ferries for day trips to Amalfi, Positano, and Capri. The well-staffed breakfast buffet consisted of everything from eggs, pastries, fruit, yogurts, and Italian meats and cheeses. Coffee orders are taken by the amazingly friendly staff and delivered to your table within minutes. The rooms were immaculately clean and spacious. The cleaning staff and reception were amazing and were available to accommodate anything we needed. I can't express how pleased we were with our nine-day stay at the Hotel Montestella and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Salerno.

Having to leave!!!

This was overall one of the best hotels we've stayed in. We were in Salerno for our son's wedding and the location of Hotel Montestella is amazing. It is on the main road to shopping, restaurants, historical sites, and much more. Within walking distance to the train station and ferries for day trips to Amalfi, Positano, and Capri. Everything was perfect. No complaints.

Hotel Montestella was an easy, short walk (level ground, 8-10 minutes) from the train station on the main road through the town. Our room was clean and comfortable and also offered a large balcony with a city view. The breakfast was good with many options including hot food choices. Don’t miss the Cathedral of Salerno dedicated to Saint Mathew with its elaborately decorated crypt dedicated to the saint.
