Gerlóczy Boutique Hotel

The location was fantastic. Next to the center of the city but in a quiet square. Close to the main attractions and with many nice restaurants nearby. We both loved the decoration. I am glad the breakfast was not a buffet, you could choose between delicious sweet or salty options from the menu.

The bathtub looked nice but it was not practical at all. As there was no screen or separation, water ended up on the floor (making it quite slippery). However, the worst part was that the separation between the bathroom and the room was not properly sealed. Therefore, the water from the bathroom leaked through the floor of the room. In short, each time we went to the bathroom or bed, water appeared again. We told that to the staff but nothing changed. Although we understand it is not so quick to fix, I do not think we have been the first couple to experience this. We also thought the individual duvets were not the best option for a double bed.

This hotel really took us by surprise, in a good way. Our room was large, comfortable and the decor stunning - real old world charm and unlike any other hotel on our trip, it felt a step above. Location was central but extremely quiet, no noise from traffic or nightlife whatsoever and we appreciated that we could open the windows. We particularly enjoyed the restaurant/cafe downstairs - convenient for meals or just a relaxing drink outside. The food was wonderful, some of the best on our trip, well- priced and plenty of options. Would not hesitate to recommend.

The entrance is not easy to find! There is no hotel sign at the front door and we ended up dragging our luggage through the cafe to find the front desk after ascertaining we must surely be in the right location. We could have used a bit more shelving in the room and bathroom. We’re used to living out of our suitcases but ended up stowing things on the floor, including toiletry bags in the bathroom, as there was limited shelving.

This hotel was magnificent. This was my first time to Budapest and it was close to essentially everything that I wanted to see and do. It is also super close to all modes of transportation including bus/tram stops as well as the hop on hop off bus location, which I was extremely thankful for and there is even a spot to rent bikes directly in front of the hotel. The room was clean and smelled amazing.

The only thing to be aware of when booking, the room I originally got had a beautiful clawfoot tub, but no shower curtain and it was necessary to hold the shower head to wash. If you're a bath taker, it is perfect for you. If you take showers I would advise against that particular room. I asked the front desk if I could have a room with a shower and they graciously accommodated.

The building was beautiful, the staff at the reception and in the cafe were all very kind and helpful. I was sick during my stay, and I felt safe and was able to change rooms at my request from a room with a bath to one with a shower. The location is great, central but quiet.

The only thing I would improve is that the bedding could be nicer and more cosy. The bed itself was excellent and very comfortable. The blankets were a little thin, and the pillows were not the best quality and slightly lumpy, but that is just me being picky. Overall, it was a great stay.

The location is really great! I was in Budapest for watching operas, it's a really conveniet place that metro and buses are close by. Can walk to most of tourist locations. I especially their tradional decorations and the restaurant. Foods were really tasty with pofessional and friendly staffs. The room i was staying with two big windows, the a/c is really warm.

The bathroom is bit of small, the shower and toilet is in a narrow place. The shower is fixed on the wall could not take off to use. The reception is not at the groud floor, you need help to get your heavy luggages up the stairs.

A beautiful hotel in amazing location, like stepping back in time but with all the comforts of today. Lovely high ceilings and beautiful bathroom. Quiet but very central location with 10min walk to St. Stephen's Basilica, 5 min to river and 7 min to nearest tube station. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay extra special, they are the best hotel and restaurant staff we have encountered for a very long time. Breakfast amazing and we had dinner a couple of times in hotel which was delicious too. I can highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again when back in Budapest.

The mattress was quite hard for me, but that's just me. My husband found it very comfortable. Maybe the option of a mattress topper would be a good way to solve this. However, the mattress would not stop me from going back.

This is a very nice and classy hotel! The interior is really elegant. The hotel is located in the heart of the city, all the bigger tourist places are within walking distance. Public transportation (basically all metro lines and several trams and buses) plus the 100E airport shuttle bus is within 5 minutes walking distance. The staff, both at the reception and at the restaurant was very friendly and kind. The breakfast was really nice with a great selection of food and drinks. The facilities were satisfying. The bed was firm and comfortable, the room was clean. I really liked the fact that the shades on the windows perfectly sealed the light and the room became pitch black during the night. In general, the room was really quiet (except on some occasions, see below). We got a nice Christmas present from the staff.

The shower cabin was leaking a little bit and a small puddle formed in front of the shower cabin. Sometimes the water pressure in the shower cabin suddenly dropped and the warm water disappeared. In the mornings, typically around 7:30, I could hear someone (probably the staff) filling up a bucket with water next to our room. It was loud, so I always woke up when I heard it. There were not too many channels on the TV, and the majority of the available channels were in German language.

Location was superb., Quiet at night but very close to great bars and restaurants in all directions Room was tastefully decorated, high ceilings, balcony furnishings. Nice bathroom with good products. Able to check in early and leave the suitcases after checking out.

Air conditioning was behind the curtain so could not cool effectively Lack of drawer storage for underwear and t-shirts Balcony seats were uncomfortable, need some cushions Fridge was full of very expensive minibar items, so we couldn't use it properly without having to remove the minibar items. There's a perfectly good shop opposite the hotel so the minibar is not necessary

It’s classic Eastern European but very comfortable. If you want a cultural experience and not just a bland international hotel chain - this is definitely for you. Breakfast package allows you to eat everything on the menu multiple times over at no extra cost. The coffee, Fresh orange, Hungarian scrambled eggs and the super fresh croissants were to die for. Staff were super helpful and friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble. Great location and easy walking to all of the attractions

Dinner menu was not inspiring but as with most food in Hungary it is very bland. If you like seasoning, spice and stronger flavours you need to look elsewhere. Don’t get me wrong it was well cooked and beautifully presented - it just had very little flavour

The location of this hotel was perfect for us. We were able to walk to most areas that we wanted to visit, or take a short walk to the bus and tram stops. We chose a Deluxe Double room as we wanted a bit more space, and the comfort of the beds was wonderful. The addition of tea/coffee making facilities was brilliant after a day of sightseeing. This is a beautiful and traditional hotel that has both charm and comfort

The bathroom was lovely, however the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor everytime we used it so that was a bit of nuisance. One suggestion from my partner was to have more choice of UK TV channels. Breakfast choices were a little limited, however the quality of the food was excellent and good value for money
