Hotel Kastanienhof

Good location as we attended an event 200m away (was freezing cold at night). Not that many hotels that area. Breakfast was very good with lots of options. Rooms are large and clean. Nice ladies at front desk.

I did not expect for the rating and price we paid: (i) not fully sound proof. we were on 2nd floor and could hear the trains and people ; (ii) safe deposit box costs 1 Euro for every time you lock it; (iii) room has a kettle but you need to buy coffee bags at front desk (front desk lady did offer me one for free); (iii) no amenities in bathroom + 'one soap for all' dispensers.

The room was quiet, we were on the backside with a garden. There were many close restaurants, some that were open for breakfast. There was a grocery store, Lidl, around the corner. The main tram stop we used was just in front of the hotel and other trams going in different directions were within a 5-10 minute walk. The vibe of the neighborhood was local & tourist and very pleasant. A Rick Steves tour was there, which verified we chose well.

It’s a good budget choice in a nice area of Berlin. Everything works very well at the hotel, breakfast,cleaning, nice staff, good hotel parking. But it’s old fashion style and far from luxury and design hotel.

The noice from the tram cars disturbs if you have a room to the street and sensitive for noises.

Excellent location for sightseeing and felt safe at all times. Accommodation was spotless and very comfortable. Staff were very pleasant. Nice selection at breakfast.

Needs a more up to date hair dryer in bathroom.

The hotel is in a good location for exploring Berlin. The room was comfortable and breakfast was great.

There is a kettle and cups in the room, but there was no tea, coffee or milk left. We went to the local shop and brought some for our room

it’s a very good location, just around the corner from the Zionkirscheplatz and the Prenzlauer Berg neighborhood. There’s a fantastic neighborhood bakery nearby, Brot und mohr, that has great coffee and is open earlier than most everything.

it’s a bit dated

It was a very nice stay. Close to the city center and main amusements. We rented a bikes in Kastanienhof at decent prices and cycled around Berlin for two days. Rooms are kept tidy, decent prices in minibar, staff was helpful and we were able to easiuly communicate in english

Very practical, nice localisation in Prenzlauerberg, clean, everything you need, with a historical touch on the hotel and Berlin, you can only advise it!

Personnel could smile more, bed with 'double matelas' not very practical, no possibility to make a coffee in the room (whereas tea yes), breakfast very rich but not much flavor

The staff was extremely cooperative and helpful, the location was pergect for aspect to all transportation and walking distance of great restaurants, the rooms were clean with super comfortable beds. This will now be my regular place in Berlin!

I would have liked to stay longer!

Centrally located, Clean and well run hotel! Hosts are very friendly and helpful! Parking inhouse is truly a blessing! Great breakfast spread also...we will stay there again when in Berlin
