Hotel De Berne

It's a typical "old fashion hotel" but recently completely refurbished. Quite close to Nice central station (at walking distance roughly 300 m) - at the tram (line n°2) station. 2 tram stations to reach Promenade des Anglais or somehow 15 mn walking. Excellent and crazily cheap place to discover Nice or to come few days for work like I did. Everything was clean and nice and finally for such a low price I cannot find any reason for complaining.

Excellent location in the heart of Nice and in close proximity to the Train main Station Nice-Ville. Very easy to reach on foot are all the main attractions of the city, namely you step immediately into the pedestrian area Avenue Medecin and Place Massena with all shopping centers and plenty of Cafes/Restaurants. Also reaching the Promenade des Anglais and the beach is quite easy and at walking distance from the Hotel. Good ratio quality/price, courtesy of the staff and amicable welcoming. Renovated structures inside the facilities with all services well functioning in the room (heating, potent wifi connection, efficient cleaning).

Requiring a prior deposit of € 50 before entering the room looks a little bit old-fashioned, considering one books the room online in advance, leaving his/her credit card credentials.

Lovely friendly staff, breakfast is provided for €5. Large room on the top floor, comfortable beds. Walking distance to the main shopping area and right across from the main train station.

The sloped ceilings over the bed and in the bathroom was a bit inconvenient. The water in the bathroom seemed to always have air in it and spit every time you turn the tap on. The shower completely stopped working while I was in it and I had to wait a few minutes for it to come back on. The hairdryer didn’t work and lots of light bulbs needed replacing in the room.

Conveniently located to major locations such as the train station - 2 minutes, Promenade des Anglais - 15 minutes, tram line √2 for easy and quick access to/from the airport and Porto, which is conveniently connected by bus √607 to Monaco, and the tram ticket is 1.50 euros is also suitable for paying for the bus to Monaco, 45 minutes. The room is cleaned of garbage every day, there is an electric kettle, disposable tea and coffee bags, a hairdryer, a disposable set (soap, shampoo-gel for the body), toilet paper, TV, towels, wifi works perfectly. Comfortable enough to stay for a day or two.

Among the unpleasant moments, there is a €50 deposit, in addition to the room price, which is returned after departure, paper cups instead of glass ones for tea and coffee, lack of breakfast, and for an additional fee of €5 they offer coffee with a croissant. Also, construction work is still underway nearby, which, most likely, will not be finished until the end of the year. The rooms are all non-smoking, but the fire alarm may go off at any time in the middle of the night or in the morning. For such a price, you can book a three-star hotel with better conditions and breakfast in Cannes.

My particular room 501 was absolutely perfect for myself. The light coming through the window tunnel is beautiful every morning. The aircon was very powerful! Perfect for the hot summer days. Room was very clean. If I come back to Nice, I’m going to try get this same room! Staff were always very helpful. Pretty quiet as well, I was able to sleep well every night.

20-25min walk from the beach but it’s a beautiful walk so I didn’t mind. The shower curtain was a little stinky, time for a new one?

I stayed in Nice for 3 nights in a standard double room. My room was very spacious, with a double bed and a big bathroom. The hotel is conveniently located to cafes and a very short walk to Nice Ville train station. All amenities were working including an electronic safe.

The cost was relatively high (600 euros for 3 nights) but this was probably due to staying over the Monaco GP weekend. The hotel only provided a few very small satchels of combined body and hair wash; this made it very difficult to adequately clean myself. There was no door hanger so I could not put a "Do Not Disturb" sign on my door. A fridge would have been nice.

Great location next to train station and number 1 tram line. Helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable bed.

Shower curtain broken and doesn't close properly, looks like it's just been poorly repaired instead of replaced. Currently a new shopping mall is being built across the road so there is loud construction noises from 7am on weekdays. Alright if you wake up early I guess. Construction should be finished soon though. The hotel can't do anything about it so not their fault.

Great location for those making Nice their base while they explore the area - just steps away from the train station and tram, and still walking distance from Old Nice and the beach! No frills, but comfortable and clean, and enough space - definitely worth the price. Highly appreciated my three nights here. They also provided me with a plug adapter for free and let me store my things the day of check out.

The train is quite loud until about midnight when they stop running. For light sleepers/people who need some early nights, this may be an issue. But for me the convenience was far worth the bit of noise!

The place is very quickly and conveniently accessible when traveling from the airport (I used the tram - the ticket cost 1.5 EUR), the check-in procedure was quick and easy. The room had everything you need for a short stay, including tea and coffee. I really liked the fact that the bed had four pillows. The bed itself is soft, perfect for comfort.

The only downside is the thin walls. Since the room was next to the elevator, you could hear the movement of other people. There is also construction going on in front of the hotel and it makes extra noise. In cold weather, when the windows are closed, it does not cause much discomfort, but more sensitive sleepers may be awakened.
