Une escale en Berry

Due to shuttle disruptions we arrived tired and irritable just before 9pm :( We had messaged Noalle who offered us a very welcome cheese and salad plate, vegetable tart and a delicious cold rose/gris -perfect ! The buildings, courtyard and garden had obviously been brought back to life with huge care and love-a beautiful, peaceful haven. Breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious again. Being cows milk intolerant, Noalle made me her famous pancakes with coconut milk accompanied by fresh fruit, yogurt, (brebis for me), bread and local jams, much appreciated! A short drive from the autoroute brings you to this outstanding "escale". Thank you both and hope to return.

This is a converted farmhouse with ecclesiastical connections a few miles east of Vierzon. Beautifully renovated and very elegant. Our room is modern and very well equipped with an excellent bathroom. There is a 48 hour limit to reserve dinner but we overlooked that and instead ate a picnic beside the river in a nearby village as recommended by the wonderful hostess of the property. Breakfast however is a luxury experience. Everything on the table is either locally made or produced by the hostess ; the honey, jam,croissant, flapjacks and yogurt ;the list goes on. Foesy lies equidistant between the Haut Languedoc and Calais and makes for a perfect overnight stop. This is an top quality B&B.

Escale en Berry was a great find just off the beaten path (far enough from the highway to enjoy the quiet countryside and close enough to be very practical). The renovation work was very tastfully done offering very modern and comfortable facilities with a beautiful historical backdrop. Supper was good and very fairly priced. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. As very frequent travelers, many places leave us indifferent or disappointed. Escale en Berry was a great exception. We will be back.

We loved the atmosphere they have created there. The room was so clean and all the food home cooked or locally sourced. They gave us a warm welcome and the courtyard was such a lovely calm setting for our meal.

The area was great for a stop over going North to South but not sure we would go there for a week. No problem with the accommodation itself though. It is so tranquil and a lovely.

Was impressed with the room and the facilities provided. I think the very large double bed was exceptionally comfortable. The breakfast was good with tea or coffee, orange juice, bread and a choice of jams plus a plain yoghurt. The one disappointment was the lack of the traditional croissant.

Nothing really, however, some travellers may consider the lack of a TV a determinant factor against booking the venue. As far as we were concerned it was nice to escape the day to day news feed and enjoy the peace and quiet.

very pretty and quaint property within its own walled garden. rooms and facilities are top class, clean and very good sizes. the hosts are very good and nothing is too much trouble. the breakfast was home made and included many local produces such as honey and jams. would highly recommend.

Our room was very spacious, well equipped, and very comfortable. The location was great for our needs - quiet, yet easy to get to. It was great that we could order dinner when booking, saving ourselves the trouble of finding a place for dinner after a long day of travel. Our host was very friendly, and dinner and breakfast were excellent and we felt like being at home. We will certainly plan on returning.

A nice family run "gîte", in a beautifully refurbished farm house with all the amenities you would expect in a luxury hotel. A very quiet environment.

The price reflects the apparently big investment to turn this place into a comfortable abode. The location is somewhat off the beaten track.

Lovely rural setting, beautifully finished inside. Hosts very welcoming. Great choice of continental breakfast options. Lovely evening meal offered, complete with a goats cheese tasting board too! Perfect for a stopover (escale) on the journey up or down through France. Will definitely be using again in future.

Outstanding personal welcome, such a wonderful change from the grim chain hotel experience. We travel across France frequently and have suffered so many shabby and unmaintained Ibis (and similar) hotels. Thouroughly recommended!
