BDX Hôtel - Gare Saint-Jean

I really liked the welcoming, when I arrived. The woman at reception was very polite, helpful and nice. The room was big enough, with amenities, and clean. The soaps and shampoo were luxurious, I think they were NUXE. For me for a great detail from their side. Location perfect and convenient for my purposes.

The only think that I missed was more plugs for the devices. The plug for the hairdryer at the bathroom did not work, so I have to use the one by the bed, maybe disturbing the other guest sleeping in the other room. Just one thing to have in mind: no elevator. I travelled just for few days and without really luggage, but maybe for others could be more problematic.

The hotel is very central with copious choices of public transport easily available. Althought central the room was quiet and clean and the bed comfortable. The bathroom had a large shower with an overhead shower head, which was unusually big considering the size of the room.

Unfortunately, the bedroom was a bit airless and stuffy, and even though there was a fan provided it was uncomfortable, and difficult to sleep. I would have appreciated a lighter duvet considering the summer heat.

Breakfast was hearty, with pancakes, pastries, bread, various types of French cheese and also sausages, bacon, eggs, fresh oranges, yogurt... Claudia prepared for us some Italian espresso and made sure we were provided with everything we needed for our stay in Bordeaux, such as hotspots, taxi and umbrellas too (it was a rainy weekend)! I would 100% recommend.

The immediate and very friendly welcome and as we had arrived before 2.00pm being able to leave our cases - and they were taken to our room ready for our return later. Our room, though on the small side (as expected) was most comfortable. The breakfast was superb; especially kind was the member of staff who took us into the breakfast room and happily explained how to find everything.

Not a problem - but the toilet roll holder was out of use. It was a stay of one night and there was nothing we disliked.

The location was great, near the train station, and tram. Very easy to navigate and get to places. A lot of food places that are affordable in the vicinity. Incredible staff, breakfast food and coffee was amazing

Despite being opposite the train station, my room was very quiet. Very comfortable bed and great shower. Good breakfast and very friendly staff. The location is good. It's about a 20 min walk to the centre, and there are buses and trams opposite, if you would rather not.

It gets quite hot in Bordeaux and although the fan was great, air conditioning might be something the hotel could consider investing in.

Nicely surprised with this hotel that I booked in the last moment because my train was cancelled. It's right next to the train station, clean, stylish, with tea/coffee station and drinking water in the room, comfortable bed, I like their pillows too, a good shower )) I checked in late and was welcomed by a professional staff who answered all my queries.

Nothing I can think about.

On arrival the staff went above and beyond from moving 1 of our groups rooms to the welcome pack and personal note which was so thoughtful. The breakfast buffet was excellent from cold meats to cooked breakfast and unlimited coffee. As for location it 2 min walk away from the train station and 5 min walk from the centre

Great location next to the train station and restaurants, about 20 minutes walking to city center. Very supportive and kind staff, always eager to help. Modern, clean rooms, but no elevator, which we did not mind at all, but someone might. Delicious breakfast with fresh orange juice, nice garden, we really enjoyed our stay here.

There was on couple at the breakfast and the man was clearly sick, coughing a lot. We also heard him coughing for hours in the evening and then also his wife. We know that there are other sicknesses than corona, but even if you have the flue, you should stay home, and if you get sick at a hotel, you should stay in your room and ask for breakfast there. Manager was notified, and they opened the windows, and luckily the couple left. It is obviously a delicate situation, however you as a guest should know and take responsibility.

This is a lovely hotel, would highly recommend for staff and design and cleanliness, the rooms were compact but perfect for what we needed. I would recommend this hotel for convenience and the staff for sure. The facilities are great and you really can’t knock the design of the hotel as it is beautifully finished!

General feeling a bit uncomfortable with the groups of men hanging around near the hotel, but was not approached or anything, just wouldn’t have liked to be by myself! Not sure if that would stop me from coming back as I think every big city the train station area can be a bit like that! There was also a bit of a loud scene outside our window in the early hours of the morning, but that couldn’t have been helped by the staff, if anything I think it’s the local police that need to be around there more…I would say that if you want a quiet relaxed stay then maybe this is not the best option but if you are looking for convenience it is perfect and the best in the area for sure!
