Le Pigonnet - Esprit de France

The hotel is close to center of town (10-15 min walk) but far enough from the hustle and bustle. the grounds are idyllic. the rooms were very clean and well appointed. the linens and bedding was excellent— as were the toiletries. Our room had a view of the gardens and the pool. the restaurant was excellent— all be it a bit pricey— but worth it. Breakfasts were outdoors because of the outstanding weather. the food and choices were excellent and any special desires were met by a very engaged and professional staff. the pool was extremely comfortable with comfortable lounge chairs. it was easy to order a chilled bottle of wine (Roses were of course fabulous). there was also a garden bar for a pre or after dinner drink. parking was free and literally outside the front door. we traveled to a winery (Chateau La Coste), a lavender field (too early for all the beautiful buds but great relaxing site). the name was Terre Ugo— family owned and operated, and a few neighboring cities. all these were within 30-60 minutes and again the hotels location made getting on and off the highway simple. we did journey to Marseille one day— here we took the train from the center of town, walked the city and dined at the port. lovely! bottom line: a wonderful, relaxing, delicious and restful experience. cannot say enough about it and we will return!!

The breakfast was served in beautiful surrounds in the gardens, under the shelter of trees, and there was a nice selection of fresh food. The staff were exceptional - nothing was too much trouble. The concierge and receptionist were so warm and welcoming and made every effort to ensure my stay was perfect. All other staff too, from the people working by the pool or the bar, to the housekeepers - everyone was friendly and attentive. A true 5* service. The pool was exquisite too, clean, uncrowded and the perfect temperature to cool off in the hot sun, with refreshments delivered to your bed as and when you needed them, along with fresh towels.

Nothing worth mentioning! I had a minor issue with my original room (nothing wrong with the room itself, just a personal preference), and the receptionist moved me to a different one within 10 minutes! I really couldn't fault any part of my stay.

The room was spacious and clean. The furnishings, though modern, were stylish. The restaurant, especially for dinner had good food and and is set in an enchanting courtyard. The staff also helped arranged some fairly complicated shipping for us.

Nothing I can recall. It is about a 20 minute walk to the old town, so, after a day of walking, we often choose a taxi when we returned to the old town for dinner. Walking home after dinner was pleasant as it had cooled down and the boulivard was much quieter.

A beautiful and grand hotel, with very beautiful gardens but still very close to the centre of Aix - a real oasis of calm and tranquility. All of the staff are incredibly warm, efficient and thoughtful. Wonderful restaurant for dinners, and breakfast outstanding (especially the fruit salad and cappuccinos!) We were travelling with our labrador, and she was given as warm a welcome as we were, and provided with a cushion and bowls in our room. An absolutely lovely visit to Aix, thanks to Le Pigonnet.

Our third visit to Pigonnet (our Hotel of Choice in Aix!) As ever, beautiful garden, beautiful room, and without exception, your staff are so welcoming, attentive and kind. The bed for our dog was better than hers at home! We dined at the restaurant each night, and it was always wonderful (especially the mirabelle soufflé!) - you really have an outstanding chef, and all of the waiting staff were exceptiional. A beautiful selection for breakfast too. Another very relaxing and very happy stay with you - looking forward to the next time!

The only thing I could remark on, was that one of the basins in the bathroom (room 42) had some big cracks in the bottom of it - it just looked as though it should be replaced.

The hotel has beautiful gardens, the location is walking distance to city center, parking on site is free. We liked everything about our stay, but especially good were the hotel staff. Always very helpful, caring and giving great recommendations. We would like to especially thank Frederic, Emilio and Elvira. Mr Frederic gave us amazing recommendations around Luberon area and helped with booking restaurants, we really felt like special guests.

beautiful setting, with garden and pool, lovely outdoor restaurant and separate area for drinks in the garden. we stayed there a decade ago and it has been nicely refreshed without losing its character. Excellent breakfast buffet for which in nice weather you can then be seated out in the. garden. Le Pigonnet is not really central to Aix but a 10-15 minute walk gets you to the center. a very top-flight property.

not much bad to say. our room was considerably smaller than our previous one, but we had purposely selected a more standard room this time as we were staying only one night, and the desk clerk volunteered that we would have been upgraded but they were fully booked. Somehow our friends’ reservation was cancelled by the hotel, and when the hotel realized its error, they acknowledged it (so rare!) and found them a tiny room, for which they were not charged.

The garden area was stunning and having breakfast there every morning was quite heavenly. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.

The only fault was that we arrived with2 full cases as we were in France for 2 weeks and there wasn’t a lot of cupboard space but the hotel and the staff were so lovely that it made up for it.

The hotel ambience is great, just how I imagined a large French country house with an elegant garden. This is our second stay here and we all remember their beautiful large garden with lots of big, mature trees. There are lots of places to sit for drinks, meals or just read your books and enjoy the breeze. This time,colorful flowers are everywhere, It is a must to come outside to enjoy. The hotel was full the day we arrived, but the garden was very large and well laid out it can accommodate every groups without feeling crowded. I've booked the Family room which in fact is a lovely cottage separate from the main hotel building. It looks lovely with the roses climbing up the wall. There are two small bedrooms inside, one is opened to the large living area, two bathrooms, the whole unit is spacious. Breakfast was lovely and plenty, you can be seated inside or at the garden terrace. Staffs were attentive and all wore masks so we felt safe, it means the management are health-conscious and willing to provide extra care for guests though not required by the government. That, I find excellent. Location is ok, in a quiet area and within a walking distance to town, about 10 min to Cours Mirabeau.

The room decoration for our unit is still traditional which we don't mind but the bathrooms are rather old with some chips in the bathtub. The rooms are generally clean, but with white tile flooring for both bathrooms, we can see they don't clean well enough.

The service was exceptional from the moment we arrived. The valet and front desk person were super helpful and informative. The restaurant staff was top notch and the food was outstanding. We also loved the gardens and the view from our room overlooking the pool

The lights were a little bright in the restaurant but that is a small point. Everything else was just fantastic.
