Honoring Dame Marie Saint Étienne de la Tour de Belleisle. The daughter, stepdaughter, daughter-in-law and wife of four French Royal governors of Acadia. In 1686, her house was near the back of the Bailey House property. This house was likely destroyed by the English in 1690 and another house, built approximately where the Bailey House is now. This newer building appears to have stood until at least 1753.
This room features the most historic furniture of the bedrooms, including items from the Tudor, Stuart and Louis XIII periods. The room features an elegant pencil post queen-sized bed. The paintings in the room are authentic 18th century French baroque.

The bright Princess Louise room has a seafront view and is beautifully appointed with golden walls accentuated by dark rich wood furnishings including a Stearns & Foster queen-sized sleigh bed. The furniture in the room are genuine 17th and 18th century antiques. The room honors HRH Prince Louise of the United Kingdom, after whom, the Province of Alberta is named. Princess Louise would have visited in 1880, but was badly hurt in a sleigh accident that year and had to cancel most of her public engagements. Fortunately, we were still able to host her husband, the Duke of Argyll.
The principal painting in Prince’s Louise’s room is an 1892 portrait by Rudolf Swoboda, one of Queen Victoria’s favorite artists. Swoboda's most famous subject was Abdul Karim whose story was told in the 2017 film Victoria and Abdul. Princess Louise would have known Swoboda’s work well as her childhood home, Osborne House on the Isle of Wight, has dozens of his works on display as part of the Royal Collection

The room is appointed with authentic Stuart, Georgian and Louis XIV furnishings. This room honors King George III of the United Kingdom, the reigning monarch when the Bailey House was built. The King had numerous titles, including Duke of Brunswick (German: Herzog von Braunschweig und Lüneburg) due to his holdings in Germany. The Province of New Brunswick was named after him. Prince Edward would have become Duke of Brunswick, had he become king, but instead the Brunswick title passed to King George III’s fourth son, Prince Ernest Augustus.
The Duke of Brunswick room is filled with genuine 17th, 18th and 19th century portraits of the many relations of the Duke of Brunswick. These include paintings of Prince William I of Orange, Count Henry Casimir of Nassau-Dietz and Margrave Frederick of Brandenburg-Bayreuth. We also have many original photographs of later members of the Brunswick family on display. The room has period furnishing with a nod to the Duke of Brunswick’s German and Dutch connections.
As with the other bedrooms, the room has its own ensuite, a custom-designed feather bed, down pillows and duvet, along with high quality luxurious linens. Your window includes a view over the enchanting English garden.
