Red Lion Inn and Suites Victoria

The room was modern and clean, it had a full kitchen, the beds were comfortable, the TV was a good size, and laundry facilities were available. There was a vending machine for drinks, snacks, and laundry detergent. The staff was lovely and helpful. We stayed 3 nights.

Parking was mostly at the back of the large building, and there is no back entrance. You have to climb about 20 stairs and then walk around the building.. There is a liquor store and an authentic Chinese restaurant in the building. These make the building busy and the front door parking hard to come by.

Rooms look better in person! Comfy beds, front desk member was so brilliant. We had a ferry cancellation so couldn't make it for our first night. He amended the booking really quickly at no extra cost and ensured our room was prioritised for the next morning when we arrived. Very clean.

Location was a bit out of town, we had a car so didn't cause any problems.

Colourful decor (door colours). Cable TV, big TV. Good lighting at bed. Bedside clock-radio. WiFi worked well. On bus routes and the Galloping Goose Trail. Room/suite 204 includes dishes, two-burner stovetop, apartment-sized fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave. It's on the quiet side of the building, facing the Goose. I will happily use this hotel again, as its location is very good for my needs, and the price is reasonable. Note: $50 security deposit on credit card upon check-in.

Fridge needs attention (I reported it, and they were prompt to respond). Only 3 hangers provided. Only one large knife provided (no paring knife, no scissors, no stirring or lifting tools). Old, under-powered microwave oven. When guests next door are not speaking softly, they can be heard through the walls. Occasional other sounds from surrounding rooms - it depends on the guests, obviously.

Bright room with large window allowing for natural light. When the toaster stopped working, the housekeeping staff quickly replaced it with a new one. Desk and housekeeping staff were friendly & pleasant. We really appreciated the housekeeping staff offering to leave a broom & dustpan for the duration of our stay. Grocery stores & restaurants are close by.

The room was on the small side but was well designed. I would have appreciated a system for replacing dish cloths & tea towels on a daily basis. There is limited housekeeping staff so you have to fend for yourself when you book for a full week. Very busy street but it allows for frequent bus service. While the Galloping Goose trail is nearby, there didn't seem to be many options for a quiet, relaxing walk.

the remote for the tv wasnt working so we had to figure out how to turn on the tv manually which was also difficult as there was no obvious button. also the front lobby was clean but could use a little more curb appeal or TLC

We loved the helpful friendly staff. We really liked the room. It was clean. It had a kitchenette. It had a bathtub which I need. It was perfect for us seniors. We also liked the pool and used it every evening for winding down the day and retiring for the night. We loved the location as The Galloping Goose bike trail was adjacent to the hotel. One could bike to downtown Victoria for entertainment. It wasn’t too too expensive and it was affordable for us seniors.

Parking was a nightmare. Often the small hotel parking was full. As we were caught in a downpour while unloading and loading the car, we were soaked! The hotel could certainly do with a canopy for the loading and unloading of suitcases.

We found the beds to be super comfortable. The fridge / microwave in the room provide a convenience to have breakfast or snacks during stay. Save On Foods and WalMart are nearby for groceries. I will return to this hotel because it meets our needs and because of the comfort.

The hot water for the shower was very inconsistent and a few mornings our shower was very chilly (early bird gets the worm!) The noise from neighbouring rooms are somewhat annoying. One night at 9pm we (2ppl) had our TV on watching the news at a lower level of sound bc we were cogniscent, the front desk called our room saying there was a complaint that our music was too loud. I told him at from desk it wasn't our room and he apologized, but just shows the sounds from all around your room travel!

I was able to check into the room when I arrived around 130pm following the bus/ferry trip from Vancouver. Very friendly and helpful manager at the front desk. Rooms were clean and well appointed, good quality bathroom. Easy to take the bus downtown from the stop close to the hotel. Not far from the Uptown mall. There was a pizza shop nearby to get a meal for dinner.

The air conditioner was rather noisy, but I was able to turn it off when I went to sleep. There was no apparent option for breakfast and nothing close by either. All hotel accommodation in Victoria was very expensive, including the Red Lion, but at least I was able to check in early in the afternoon which was much appreciated otherwise I would not have been able to visit downtown Victoria in the afternoon.

Hotel is well located north of downtown Victoria providing easy access to the highways north and west. The room was clean, modern and comfortable. The rooms, despite proximity to the road, were quiet at night. The staff were were very helpful, accommodated our requests and made excellent recommendations for breakfast within walking distance. The hotel is very good value.

Much of the parking is on the lower level. It would be useful to have access to the hotel from that level. The access to parking at checkin is somewhat limited and adjacent to a narrow passage for other vehicles.

It was a 10 min drive to the ferry. Beds were comfortable. Had a kitchenette. Plenty of hot water. Bathtub was convenient. Better than most reviews posted. Would stay again. Price was fair.

Like every hotel with A/C, had to clean the air filter ourselves. Wish more hotels would pay attention to this small detail. The air conditioner for the room was not big enough to sustain the coolness. The 2nd bed was super close to the wall. Once again, there were no screens on the window when opening to the outside.
